WASHINGTON — The 2015 Buick Verano sedan earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Scores for the 2015 Verano include five stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The 2015 Verano is expected to arrive at dealerships later this summer.

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 Verano includes 10 airbags and a rearview camera. Side blind zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Verano 1SG, 1SL and 1ST.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2015 Verano.

Key competitors to the Verano include the 2014-'15 Acura ILX, 2015 Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score may want to note that the 2015 Acura ILX also earned the top five-star rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class have not been rated.
