Preston Auto Group To Showcase Local Heroes During Big Game


PRESTON, Maryland — With the help of social media, Preston Auto Group reached out to the community for material for its Super Bowl ads.

The group, with Ford, Hyundai, Lincoln, Mazda and Nissan dealerships, is running three 30-second local ads in the battle for the Vince Lombardi trophy on Sunday.

The theme of each commercial is a big "thank you" to the dealer group's customers in the Delmarva area, where Delaware, Maryland and Virginia converge, Preston Auto Vice President Dave Wilson Jr. told Edmunds.

One commercial contains photos of local first responders and military heroes that come to life with an original song by area country artist Eric Karge. Preston put out a plea Monday on Facebook seeking photos from those groups.

Another shows many of the signs and banners the Preston Auto Group's dealerships have displayed over the years that demonstrate their care for the entire community. One says, "Good luck All-Stars!," another congratulates the teacher of the year, while another pleads, "Pray for Grant."

A third spot revisits many of the community events it's hosted or participated in, including a March of Dimes fundraiser and a Big Foot Monster Truck Rally.

All three introduce the audience to a new Web site the company created to highlight its community outreach effort, PrestonCares.com.

President Dave Wilson Sr. underscored that caring for the community has been a consistent theme.

"No matter what (economic) cycle we went through, we never cut the budget for what we do for our community because we really, really believe in giving back," Wilson Sr. said.
