HERNDON, Virginia — The new 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Limited Edition model arrives at Volkswagen dealerships in late March, priced at $25,815, including an $820 destination charge.

The midrange model is "positioned in the sweet spot of the Golf SportWagen lineup, Volkswagen said in a statement on Thursday.

The base 2016 Golf SportWagen is priced at $22,445, including shipping.

The SportWagen Limited Edition adds several standard driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, forward-collision warning and autonomous emergency braking.

Exterior upgrades include 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, chrome window trim and "Limited" badging.

The cabin features standard leatherette seating surfaces, keyless access with push-button start and heated front seats.

The SportWagen Limited Edition is equipped with a 170-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Key competitors include the Subaru Outback wagon and Toyota Prius V wagon.

Edmunds says: This new addition to the Golf SportWagen lineup will appeal to value-minded car shoppers.
