TORRANCE, California — Toyota Motor Sales USA is recalling approximately 5,000 2016 Lexus RX 350 and Lexus RX 450h luxury SUVs because the driver's knee airbag module may not have been properly manufactured, the automaker said on Wednesday.
"This could affect the performance of the airbag and increase the risk of injury in a crash," Toyota said in a statement.
There are no injuries related to the recall, Toyota spokeswoman Cindy Knight told Edmunds.
Takata is not the airbag supplier.
No information about the recall has been posted on the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S.
Edmunds says: Owners of these vehicles should wait for their official recall notice and then schedule a service appointment with their dealer. But if you have an immediate concern, it's best to contact your dealer now.
