2016 Chrysler 200 Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2016 Chrysler 200 midsize sedan earned the top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at Chrysler dealerships, the 2016 Chrysler 200 received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to the front-wheel-drive version of the Chrysler 200.

Chrysler's 2016 200 with all-wheel drive received a partial rating at this point, but no overall rating. The Chrysler 200 with all-wheel drive received five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

Standard safety equipment on the Chrysler 200 includes eight airbags, including driver and passenger knee airbags, electronic stability control, antilock brakes, traction control and brake assist.

A rearview camera is now standard on 2016 Chrysler 200 Limited and S models. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection are options on the Limited model.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2016 Chrysler 200 a 2016 Top Safety Pick+ honor, saying the car earned "good" scores in all crash tests.

Key competitors to the Chrysler 200 include the Chevrolet Malibu, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Honda Accord and Toyota Camry also received the top five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu has not been rated.
