The Cascada is scheduled to begin arriving at Buick dealers within the next few weeks, priced from $33,990, including a $925 destination charge. It competes against such models as the Audi A3 convertible, BMW 2 Series convertible and 2015 Lexus IS 250 C.
In the first spot, Kemper is standing on a city street next to the new Cascada when a handsome stranger compliments the car. Although it's clearly not hers, she plays along, clambering over the locked door and launching into an imagination sequence.
In her mind, she drives a Regal and flirts with the same man, now riding a motorcycle; shops for an Encore in a Buick showroom, where he's the salesman; and finally rides in an Enclave with him and their five imaginary children.
Brought back to reality, Kemper goes off to have pancakes with her new friend as the Cascada's true owner returns, looking appropriately perplexed.
The spot concludes with the campaign's signature tagline: "Imagine Yourself in the New Buick."
"Our Ellie Kemper series invites viewers to join her in discovering the new Cascada and today's modern, approachable Buick brand," said Duncan Aldred, Buick's U.S. vice president of sales, service and marketing, in a statement.
A Buick spokesperson told Edmunds that the Super Bowl spot will not feature Ellie Kemper and would not divulge the content of the ad, but it's likely to feature the Cascada as well as Buick's other new models.
Kemper is a good fit for the Buick brand as it tries to reshape its image to appeal to a younger demographic.
Known for the films 21 Jump Street and Bridesmaids, in addition to television's The Office, the 35-year-old actress most recently landed the title role in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which debuted on Netflix last year.
Edmunds says: Shoppers in the market for a luxury convertible should contact their local Buick dealer to check on the arrival of the 2016 Cascada.
