2015 Mitsubishi Mirage Earns Four-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Five stars is the highest rating.

The 2015 Mirage, which is on sale now at Mitsubishi dealerships, received four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 Mirage includes antilock brakes, stability control, traction control and seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2015 Mirage a "poor" rating in the small-overlap front crash test and "good" scores in all other crash tests. The small-overlap test is designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.

Key Mirage competitors include the Chevrolet Spark, Fiat 500 and Ford Fiesta.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Chevrolet Spark, Fiat 500 and Ford Fiesta also earned a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
