Edmunds Named One of the Best Workplaces for Women

Edmunds has been named one of the Best Workplaces for Women in the U.S. by research and consulting firm Great Place to Work and business information provider Fortune.

The rankings were based on surveys of more than 400,000 employees from hundreds of businesses in all sectors of the economy. And the final list took into account women staff members' assessment of their organization's culture, leadership, equality and other elements employees find important for an outstanding work environment.

Edmunds ranked No. 74 out of 100 companies on the list and was the only organization recognized as a best workplace for women in the Los Angeles metro area.

"At Edmunds, we believe in upholding an employee-first work environment that fosters innovation, collaboration and diversity of thought," said Edmunds CEO Avi Steinlauf. "This award is a great honor for our company and truly highlights the dedication of our Employment and Workplace Experience teams toward making Edmunds a great place to work for everyone."

Consistently cited as a great place to work in the L.A. area, Edmunds has also been ranked as a Best Workplace for Millennials and a Best Workplace in Technology in the small and medium-sized businesses category in 2017, and a Best Workplace for Asian Americans, a Best Workplace for Diversity and a Best Medium Workplace in 2016.

"Our unique company culture has spurred the rollout of innovative policies over the years, including extended parental leave, flexible work hours and robust development programs," said Edmunds Chief People Officer Julie Merges. "We have been and will continue to remain dedicated to empowering not only our women, but all of our employees with both work-life balance and the opportunity to grow and advance in their careers."

As Merges noted, one standout reason for the accolades is that Edmunds offers a Results-Only Work Environment, where employees are given the flexibility to manage their personal and professional lives as long as they deliver results for the company. Edmunds also provides a number of unique perks, such as in-home parent coaching to support new parents, family-friendly events, including a summer picnic and holiday party, and office holidays that mirror school time off. In addition, the company offers cash toward vacations, subsidized gym memberships, on-site massages and yoga, and unique internal recognition programs.

Employees based in Santa Monica enjoy working at EdQuarters, the company's award-winning 143,000-square-foot office located two miles from the beach. The facility features amenities that include free breakfasts and lunches, a mother's room with a hospital-grade breast pump, and bright, colorful, open workspaces and informal meeting places that encourage collaboration.

Research from Great Place to Work has shown that women are five times more likely to plan a long-term future with an organization when they're treated as full members of the team, regardless of position. Ninety-five percent of women at the Best Workplaces for Women say their work environment is friendly, and they're proud to tell others where they work.

"The Best Workplaces for Women deserve recognition for crafting environments where men and women alike can bring their best selves to work each day," said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work.
