CHERRY HILL, New Jersey — The 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Special Edition compact SUV arrives at Subaru dealerships in June, priced at $26,445, including an $850 destination charge.

The special model, which features a "Pure Red" exterior color, debuted in February at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.

The Crosstrek Special Edition is spun off the Crosstrek 2.0i Premium model, with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, body-colored mirrors with integrated turn signals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Special Edition adds red stitching on the steering wheel, shift lever and door panels, along with red interior ambient lighting.

Other details include an All-Weather package that bundles heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer, plus a power moonroof, blind-spot detection and keyless access with push-button start.

The standard Subaru Starlink infotainment system features a 6.2-inch touchscreen, HD radio, CD player, Bluetooth connectivity and a four-month free trial to SiriusXM All-Access satellite radio.

The Subaru 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine produces 148 horsepower and in the Crosstrek Special Edition is mated to a standard continuously variable transmission.

Key Crosstrek compact and subcompact SUV competitors include the Chevrolet Trax, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Juke.

Edmunds says: This red-hot Crosstrek Special Edition will spice up Subaru showrooms as we head into the busy summer selling season.
