Cadillac announced last year that it would build a hybrid coupe called the ELR, and now our latest spy footage reveals how it's shaping up. Caught during hot weather testing in Death Valley, the production Cadillac ELR looks as though it will arrive with a size and shape very similar to the Converj concept on which it's based.
Even with the heavy camouflage, the dramatic wedge shape of the ELR is easy to make out, as is the very Volt-like grille up front. It's also obvious that the production ELR will retain the compact proportions of the Converj.
That's a good thing, too, as GM confirmed this week that it will get a modified version of the Chevy Volt's drivetrain. That means it'll need all the help it can get to deliver the performance to back up its looks.
