Online Contests Help Briggs Auto Group Mine Potential Customers

MANHATTAN, Kansas — With the help of social media, Briggs Auto Group has found a way to bolster its customer database.

The Buick, GMC, Nissan and Super Center dealerships are hosting a Facebook giveaway in January offering Kansas State University basketball tickets.

That contest comes on the heels of fruitful online giveaways that let participants visit the auto group's contest page during late November and early December to register for the chance to drive a new 2014 GMC Yukon for the night and enjoy a visit to the Texas Roadhouse with a $200 gift card to the restaurant.

"We expect the winner, Davina Parrish, a 2010 Nissan Sentra owner, will get the keys, love the Yukon so much and decide to drive around all night, saving the gift card for another time," Michelle Clark, Briggs Auto's marketing manager, told Edmunds.

More than 220 people registered, leaving their contact information and giving the salespeople plenty of leads to follow.

"It also is part of our effort to reach out to our community and give back," Clark said.

It won't be the last time either.

"It was our first contest with this dinner-and-test-drive giveaway and we will definitely do it again," Clark said.

Edmunds says: Updating a database through a clever contest is a sure-fire way to sell cars.
