2015 Chevrolet Spark EV Tops 2015 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars List

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV tops the 2015 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars List published by the EPA on Thursday.
The Spark EV, an electric car, returns a combined 119 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent).

The 2015 Fiat 500e, Volkswagen e-Golf and Nissan Leaf also made the list, along with the Ford C-Max Hybrid, Kia Soul Electric, Toyota Prius V and Smart Fortwo Electric Drive convertible and coupe.

The EPA rolled out the 2015 Most and Least Fuel-Efficient Vehicles list as part of the release of the 2015 Fuel Economy Guide.

The 2015 Bugatti Veyron is the least fuel-efficient car, returning a combined 10 mpg.

The EPA said in comparison to previous years, the 2015 models include a greater number of fuel-efficient and low-emissions vehicles in a broader range of classes and sizes.

"Automakers' innovation is thriving and Americans are benefiting from new consumer choices that limit carbon emissions and slow the effects of climate change," said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy in a statement. "This year's guide is not just about how the latest models compare with one another; it's about providing people with an excellent tool so that they can make informed decisions affecting their pocketbooks and the planet."

The online version of the guide gives car shoppers a personalized fuel cost estimate based on local gas prices and their personal driving habits.

The EPA also helps consumers with tips for more fuel-efficient driving.

Edmunds says: If you're doing your homework before heading to the local dealership, the EPA's 2015 Fuel Economy Guide will be an indispensable tool.
