Top 10 Trucks with the Best Residual Value for 2004

Want to buy a minivan, SUV or pickup that really holds its value? If resale value is important to you, these are the trucks likely to depreciate the least during the ownership period. Below is the percentage of its original value that each vehicle is likely to retain after five years with an annual mileage of 15,000. Keep in mind that the residual value percentages are based on the national True Market Value® (TMV) price, plus typical options and destination charge. A quick scan of the list suggests that the import brands — Toyota, in particular — fare particularly well in the minivan, compact pickup and small and midsize SUV categories. The domestics dominate the full-size truck arena, as heavy-duty series pickups hold onto their value especially well. However, when it comes to the half-ton pickups that most consumers buy, you'll note that this year's import-brand upstart, the Nissan Titan, edged out the best-selling Ford F-150.
