Top 10 Most Expensive SUVs to Insure for 2009

One factor to consider as you shop for a new SUV is insurance expense — rates can vary wildly from model to model. With this in mind, we've compiled a list of the 10 most expensive SUVs to insure. As you'd expect, this list is dominated by luxury models — manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover are represented. Perhaps the real story here, though, has to do with the luxury models that aren't represented. Surprisingly, models manufactured by BMW and Audi are nowhere to be found — definitely something to keep in mind if you're shopping in this segment.

We arrived at our rankings using five-year projections of the Edmunds.com True Cost to Own^SM (TCO) pricing system. Only one appearance per model was allowed. Rankings reflect that of the trim level with the steepest projected insurance expense.
