Overview

Even as midsize sedan sales continue to fall, the 2026 Honda Accord will be around for those who remain uninterested in boarding the good ship SUV. Considering Honda's usual product cycle, we anticipate the 2026 Accord will receive a mild midlife update (it was last totally redesigned for 2023). This refreshing should include subtle styling updates and updates to the interior. It's also possible that some of the appealing tech features that are currently exclusive to the top trim level will trickle down to lower trims, and we wouldn't be surprised if the hybrid powertrain becomes more widely available. The Toyota Camry, for instance, now exclusively comes as a hybrid. Honda could certainly follow suit for 2026.
Edmunds spotlight: Google-based infotainment
One of the most noteworthy features of the current-generation Honda Accord is an available Google-based touchscreen infotainment system. Not only does it have the biggest screen available in the lineup at 12.3 inches, it also has a more user-friendly interface and various integrated Google functions including Google Maps, Google Assistant voice controls, and apps from the Google Play Store. It's all good stuff, but it's restricted to the top Touring trim level. That just seems like unnecessary gatekeeping. We hope its availability changes with the 2026 Honda Accord.
Competitors to consider
The Accord's old nemesis, the Toyota Camry, is still kicking and boasts a compelling hybrid-only lineup available in different dynamic/style flavors for different tastes. It's our top-rated choice for a midsize sedan. The boldly styled Hyundai Sonata, like the Accord, is available in gas-only and hybrid powertrains, and it offers great value for the money, especially in terms of technology. We also recommend checking out the Honda Civic. It's a bit louder on the highway and not quite as nice of a car overall, but it's less expensive and has pretty much the same features and space as the Accord.
Edmunds Expert Rating

Performance
Comfort
With 19-inch wheels, our test car displayed a wonderful ride quality. It soaked up major bumps and bruises without issue and kept its composure through our time with it. We'd wager that the EX-L trim, and its smaller wheels, would be even better.
Interior
The view from the driver's seat is unhampered by any big blind spots thanks to thin windshield pillars and a huge rear window. However, we found it difficult to see the full gauge cluster if we raised the driver's seat too high — this might be a problem for shorter drivers.
Technology
The Honda Sensing suite of driving aids is pretty well sorted. The lane keeping system can be overly intrusive at times, but when everything is working at once, things are great. We also appreciate how easy it is to activate the adaptive cruise control with a simple button press on the steering wheel.
Storage
The rear seats are spacious enough to fit multiple car seats, and the LATCH points are easy to see without anything covering them up. The only potential headache with installation is the low roofline.
Fuel Economy
Value
Honda's warranty is pretty typical with three-year/36,000-mile basic and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage. Roadside assistance is standard for the life of the basic warranty. Beyond that, a number of service packages are available for purchase, though other automakers offer more free benefits.

2026 Honda Accord trim level differences
[Editor's note: The following unofficial information is based on last year's Accord. We expect the 2026 model will have a similar lineup and we'll update this section once we have complete information.] The Honda Accord is available in six trim levels: LX, SE, Sport, EX-L, Sport-L and Touring. The LX and SE are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) sends that power to the front wheels. The remaining trim levels all upgrade to a hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter non-turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Total system output is 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. It is also front-wheel-drive.
Which Accord trim does Edmunds recommend?
Honda hasn't released official information on the 2026 Accord as of this writing. We'll update our recommendation if anything changes, but based on last year's Accord, the top-of-the-line Touring Hybrid offers the space and many of the features of a luxury sedan for significantly less than the average new car costs. For something less spendy, check out the EX-L Hybrid, which still has leather seats — heated in front — as well as smaller wheels that help it achieve an EPA-estimated 48 mpg combined.
