The 2025 Honda Accord is one of the best midsize sedans you can buy. It offers roomy seating, a comfortable ride and a pleasant driving experience. There's plenty of room in the trunk for suitcases and, if you opt for the hybrid powertrain, you'll also get excellent fuel economy. Honda made rear air vents and USB-C standard features for 2025, which is a nice quality of live improvement.

Edmunds spotlight: A sound choice for a family sedan

The Accord was redesigned for 2023 to kick off its 11th generation, and as part of the redesign, the upper trim levels use a standard hybrid powertrain. But that's actually a good thing. The hybrid powertrain offers a total output of 204 hp and an impressive 44 combined mpg (48 mpg combined in the EX-L Hybrid). In addition, the Accord offers a spacious interior, comfortable seats, and a refined suite of driving aids. All in all, the Accord is a well-rounded family car.

Competitors to consider

The Accord is surely a smart choice. However, it's not your only option for a midsize sedan. The Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5 and Toyota Camry are all excellent choices as well. How does the Honda Accord drive? The Accord Sport-L, with its hybrid powertrain, maximizes fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance. In our testing, the Accord-L dashed from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds, about 1 second quicker than most rival midsize hybrids. The continuously variable transmission is cleverly programmed to feel like a traditional automatic, while handling and steering deliver a respectably grippy and invigorating experience. Still, today's Accord is bigger than before and lacks the natural athleticism that earlier Accords were known for. Our test car came with 19-inch wheels yet still offered a wonderful and comfortable ride, easily soaking up major bumps and bruises without issue. The EX-L trim, with its smaller wheels, should be even better. Thin windshield pillars and a huge rear window offer plenty of visibility and add to driver confidence.

The Honda Sensing suite of driving aids is well sorted, although the lane keeping system can be overly intrusive at times. We appreciated the ease of activating adaptive cruise control with just a simple press of a button on the steering wheel.

How comfortable is the Honda Accord? The Accord's big door openings make getting in and out a breeze, although taller rear passengers may need to duck slightly to clear the sloping roofline. Passenger space in both rows is fantastic, including generous legroom. The Accord's driver's seat could use more padding, but it offers enough adjustability for nearly anyone to get comfortable behind the wheel.

The Accord's back-to-basics interior features a simple center stack with big no-nonsense buttons and knobs, and the climate control system is more than adequate to heat and cool the car. Ample insulation does a good job of keeping unwanted noise out of the cabin, and you'll rarely hear the engine except when pushed hard. For car seats, LATCH anchors are near the rear seat surface, located under clearly marked flaps. The rear bench is wide and spacious enough to accommodate multiple seats.

How’s the tech? Our test car had the available 12.3-inch touchscreen, which looks sharp and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Honda also offers Google voice assistant and services integration, but only on the top Touring trim. That feels like unnecessary gatekeeping since it's a helpful tech feature that could really improve the ownership experience for people who buy less expensive Accords.
