TORRANCE, California — American Honda is recalling approximately 374,000 vehicles in the U.S., including the 2003-'04 Honda Odyssey and 2003 Acura MDX, to fix a problem that could cause inadvertent airbag deployment.
Honda said it has received "a small but increasing number of complaints" in recent months of inadvertent airbag deployment in these vehicles.
The company said it is recalling the vehicles "to address potential malfunctions of the supplemental restraint system (SRS) airbag system due to electrical interference."
"To prevent malfunction, an electrical noise filter will be installed adjacent to the SRS control unit," it said.
"No crashes have been reported to Honda related to this issue," the company said. The recall affects 318,000 Odysseys and 56,000 MDXs.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S., had not posted any information about this latest Honda recall as of Thursday morning.
The recall will begin in late October. Owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 or by going online to www.recalls.honda.com or www.recalls.acura.com.
Edmunds says: There is a bit of a delay to the start of this recall. If you are experiencing a problem with your vehicle, it's best to get it into the dealership immediately.
