2016 Hyundai Tucson Recalled to Update Transmission-Control Module Software

WASHINGTON — Hyundai Motor America is recalling 41,000 2016 Hyundai Tucson SUVs to update the transmission control module software, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a seven-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission.

"Certain driving conditions and high temperatures may cause the vehicle to not move if the accelerator pedal is pressed and released repeatedly," the NHTSA said in its recall summary. "Inability to move the vehicle while in traffic may increase the risk of a crash."

No accidents or injuries are linked to the recall, Hyundai told federal safety regulators.

The affected Tucson SUVs were built from May 20, 2015, through May 31, 2016.

Hyundai dealers will update the software. The recall is expected to begin on October 28. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460.

Edmunds says: Owners of these vehicles should schedule a service appointment with their Hyundai dealer once they receive their official recall notice. Those with an immediate concern should contact their dealer now.
