The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is one of the best SUVs we've ever driven. Acceleration, braking and handling are all world-class, and the sport-tuned suspension doesn't punish you on the street. The interior is comfortable and reasonably spacious, and the Cayenne's tech and storage have been improved thanks to a mild interior refresh.Read full review

Cons
- That customization isn't cheap
- Gloss-black interior panels show dust and smudges
- Poor visibility to the rear through the rearview mirror

- Retuned suspension for more precise handling and ride comfort
- Part of the third Cayenne generation introduced for 2019
Overview
The Cayenne Coupe is the fastback version of the regular Cayenne, Porsche's largest SUV. The midsize SUV was developed for performance and driver engagement. But this Porsche also offers plenty of tech and luxury features, provides excellent ride quality and offers lots of customization. It basically offers almost anything you're looking for in an SUV except for a third row and a large cargo area because of its sloping roofline. However, its high starting price puts it out of reach of many SUV shoppers. For 2024, the Cayenne Coupe and the separately reviewed Cayenne received a host of changes and upgrades.

Edmunds spotlight: All of the Cayenne Coupe's changes for 2024
Porsche refreshed the Cayenne Coupe's exterior and loaded it with new standard features including blind-spot warning, a wireless smartphone charger, LED adaptive headlights, and an adaptive suspension that's been tuned to deliver improved ride comfort and handling. Drivers will enjoy the new 12.6-inch digital gauge cluster and redesigned center console. The 12.3-inch center touchscreen now displays Porsche's latest infotainment system and there's a new optional 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. The Cayenne Coupe also has a revamped lineup that includes three plug-in hybrid models that boast larger battery packs for longer all-electric driving ranges. All models now make more power, most notably the Cayenne S Coupe, which now sports a 468-horsepower turbocharged V8.
Competitors to consider
The Cayenne Coupe offers even more for 2024, but if that high price tag has you on the fence, consider some of its rivals. The Porsche competes against other sporty coupe-like SUVs including the Audi Q8, the BMW X6, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the new Genesis GV80 Coupe. Like the Cayenne Coupe, each has performance versions but lacks a plug-in hybrid model. There's also the smaller Porsche Macan SUV, with a lower starting price, to consider. As for all-electric rivals, check out the Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron.

Great
8.4
out of 10
We drove the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Performance
9/10
How does the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT drive? With a 0-60 mph time of just 3.2 seconds, the Cayenne Turbo GT outgunned vehicles like the Lamborghini Urus and BMW XM at our test track to become one of the quickest SUVs we've ever tested. Acceleration from the turbocharged V8 is both brutal and thrilling, with exhaust wailing and barking on every upshift. The transmission is smooth and quick and always seems to know which gear to be in, and the V8's output means there's always power when you need it.
Braking is impressive, too. In our testing, the Turbo GT needed just 106 feet to stop from 60 to 0 mph, which is right in the mix with the best we've seen from an SUV. Our test vehicle had the optional carbon-ceramic brakes, and we found they held up to multiple braking tests without any fade or diminished performance.
But what's a Porsche without world-class handling? We're happy to report that the Turbo GT delights in corners. It pulled an outlandish 1.08 g on our skidpad, which is again right at the top for the best SUVs we've tested. You can really flog the Turbo GT on the track, where it feels much more like a tall sedan than a lowered SUV. You feel the Cayenne's weight, but it's well balanced and tight thanks to a retuned suspension, torque-vectoring system and rear-axle steering.

Comfort
8.5/10
How comfortable is the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT? The Cayenne Turbo GT offers either eight- or 18-way power-adjustable front seats as standard equipment, depending on your choice of upholstery. Our test vehicle had the 18-way seats with full leather. The padding is firm but comfortable, and we appreciated being able to tighten the bolstering in a vehicle that corners as fast as this one does. This one was set up in the 2+2 configuration with rear bucket seats; an optional bench seat is available. Ride comfort is good thanks to the standard air suspension. You feel the road, but the Cayenne does a good job of soaking up most imperfections.
The three-zone climate control (four-zone is optional) system is easy to use, though the temperature display can wash out if you're looking at it with polarized sunglasses. It blows cold, though the AC cuts out if the engine is off because of the stop-start system. Not great on a hot day. There's a mild amount of wind and road noise on the highway, and the engine is only really loud in Sport and Sport Plus modes.

Interior
8/10

All Porsches are meant to be driver's cars, so it's no surprise that there's a lot of adjustment for the wheel and seat. You can sit low to feel more like a hatchback or higher for a more traditional SUV seating position. Getting in and out is relatively easy, though the sleek roofline on the Cayenne Coupe means dipping your head a bit. There's plenty of space inside, even with the low roof. Adults should be comfortable in either row. For visibility, the Cayenne's seating position affords a good view out of the front, but the view to the side and rear is limited by narrow windows. We also had some intermittent issues with the backup camera.

Technology
8/10
How’s the tech? The Cayenne is available with lots of in-car tech and driver aids, though few features are standard. Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration is standard. The infotainment screen is clear and responsive, and we didn't have any issues with connectivity or lag. The map is easy to read, and the available voice commands will allow you to input an address or adjust other things like the climate control. Our vehicle was also fitted with the optional Bose audio system. It's good, but most of our staff thought the audio quality didn't fully match the price.
While blind-spot warning is now standard, features like adaptive cruise control must be added as options. That's a shame when you get these same driver aids as standard equipment in rivals.

Storage
7.5/10
How’s the storage? Porsche offers the Cayenne in two body styles: the standard SUV and the sleek-looking Coupe. The Turbo GT is only available with the Cayenne Coupe. That means less cargo capacity than the regular Cayenne. But hey, with 20 cubic feet behind the second row and 52 cubic feet with the seats folded down, it's still a lot better than a 911's storage space. The cargo space is wide and flat, though the rear window does cut into the cargo area.
Storage in the cabin for small items is decent. The center console bin is still a bit small, but the door pockets are useful and offer enough space for tall water bottles. Getting a car seat inside is mostly easy, though that roofline means you have to duck a bit more to reach inside. There's plenty of space for a large rear-facing seat, and the anchors are easy to see and access. Note that the 2+2 configuration lacks a middle seat in the rear.

Fuel Economy
7.5/10
How economical is the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT? On our real-world mixed-driving evaluation route, we saw 19.0 mpg overall, bettering the EPA's 16 mpg estimate. We don't expect an SUV with a hopped-up twin-turbo V8 to be great for fuel economy, but overall the Cayenne Turbo GT seems to be sufficiently efficient in routine driving.
Value
7.5/10
Is the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT a good value? The interior is handsome and well appointed, with nice leather and premium materials on most surfaces, though it's not quite as nice inside as a Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, Lamborghini Urus or Audi RS Q8. We also noticed some minor build quality issues, with some occasional buzzing from the door panel and headliner. It's surprising as most Porsches we test are built like bank vaults.
And it's not cheap either. The Turbo GT is the most expensive Cayenne in the lineup. It comes better equipped than other Cayennes, though it's still missing some driver aids like adaptive cruise control that we expect to be included.
Porsche includes a four-year/50,000-mile basic and powertrain warranty. It also includes four years/50,000 miles of roadside assistance and one year of service visits. Those are all about average for the class.

Wildcard
10/10
It doesn't get much better than this when it comes to pure fun behind the wheel. Simply put, the Cayenne Turbo GT doesn't drive like an SUV. It's large and heavy, sure, but the Cayenne is tuned so well that you can really push it on a winding road or tight circuit. There's power everywhere, whether you need to quickly get away from a stoplight or pass a slow-moving vehicle at highway speeds.
Some may decry the Turbo GT for looking too much like other Cayennes, especially given the price. That's fair, though we think the subtle design changes make it a bit of a sleeper and way less attention-grabbing than something like a Lamborghini Urus or Aston Martin DBX. It's sporty and purposeful without losing the clean lines that make the Cayenne Coupe such a looker.

2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe trim level differences
The 2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is a performance-oriented midsize luxury SUV with standard seating for four passengers, but you can get a fifth seat at no extra charge. Six models are available: a base version plus the E-Hybrid, S, S E-Hybrid, Turbo E-Hybrid and Turbo GT. Compare the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe trim levels in-depth.
Which Cayenne Coupe trim does Edmunds recommend?
As tempting as a 729-hp plug-in hybrid luxury SUV sounds, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe's high price tag will likely make you reconsider. And plugging it in every day might not be ideal for you. With its new 468-hp turbocharged V8, the Cayenne S Coupe offers the most performance for the money. However, if you want the superior efficiency of a plug-in hybrid and don't mind plugging in at home, the similarly priced Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe offers comparable performance.
