What is the 911?
The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic nameplates in the automotive world. It's been honed, whittled down, and crafted into Porsche's most versatile and coveted model throughout the years. For 2024, we expect the 911 will get a major change with the introduction of a hybrid system to the 911's powertrain. That will mean more power and efficiency but hopefully no reduction in soul. These batteries do come with a weight penalty, but we know Porsche will likely do its best to maintain the driver focus that pervades the 911.
Based on spy shots all over the internet, we are also anticipating a new look to the 911's exterior, with fresh headlight and taillight designs as well as new fascias for the front and rear ends. Expect new tech for the interior and a massaged interior layout too. This wouldn't be an entirely new model but a face-lift of the current one. The core models like the Carrera, Carrera S, 4, 4S and Turbo models will likely all get the changes first, with changes to more specialized variants like the GTS, GT3 and GT3 RS coming later.
Expect a small bump in the starting price as well as some changes to available equipment and the discontinuation of special models like the Sport Classic, 911 Dakar and the Porsche Design edition of the 911 Targa.
