Audi has just replaced its aging Q5 with an all-new generation. The redesign brings new looks, a heck of a lot more tech (up to four displays in the interior), a new transmission in the form of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and more power. The result is a bit of a mixed bag. The Q5 is now much better to drive thanks to some suspension tweaks and a much snappier new transmission, making the engine feel even more potent. We also love the view out of all sides thanks to how much glass Audi's used, the interior feels spacious, and it's supremely quiet inside with a very refined ride.

2026 Audi Q5 Review

Edmunds spotlight: A tech lover's dream, but …
Step inside the Q5 and you are absolutely blasted with screen after screen — it's like a Best Buy in there. The digital instrument cluster measures 11.9 inches and features new graphics, but it isn't anywhere near as customizable as before. The Prestige model also comes with a head-up display, a 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger, and an absolutely enormous 14.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. All of them are bright, easy to read, quick to react, and feature great color contrast with deep blacks. You can even see the HUD with polarized sunglasses (just not as well as without them). It's great that the screens are nice to look at, but Audi has still sinned.
All of the climate controls have been moved to the center display. There's a dedicated section at the bottom of the screen for them and a nice shelf for your hand to rest on as you change temperature and fan speed, but, as always, these should be physical. You can change the climate with the new Q5's voice commands, but that's not for everyone. In fact, this interior is so dizzyingly tech-forward that it might keep some from considering the Q5 entirely. We like that the new car is better to drive than ever before and more comfortable to boot, but the reliance on screens and touch-sensitive buttons will be a drawback for some.
Competitors to consider
If you're considering an Audi Q5, you have a nice selection of competitors to weigh it against. The Mercedes GLC was overhauled recently and is arguably the most luxurious-feeling option in the segment. The BMW X3 was also new for 2025 and sports a completely new tech setup, just like the Q5. And don't sleep on the Genesis GV70; though the automaker doesn't have as much brand cachet as others in the segment, the GV70 is a superb vehicle and has a warranty that's far superior to that of any rivals.
Edmunds says
Audi has been in need of a brand reset for a while, and the new Q5 is a helpful step to get things moving in the right direction.
