As its alphanumeric name would suggest, the Q5 is the middle child in Audi's lineup of SUVs situated between the smaller Q3 and larger three-row Q7. The Q5 offers comfortable seating for five and sophisticated styling and is very well put together. Now entering its sixth year of this current generation, we've been wondering when Audi was going to give us an all-new Q5 and we finally have our answer. Spy photos have confirmed fairly complete examples of the next-generation Q5 are already circulating, and we expect Audi to unveil the new version of this popular SUV sometime in the summer of 2024.
Edmunds spotlight: Right in the middle
More than just being in the middle of Audi's own lineup, the Q5 also finds itself holding down the middle ground in the compact luxury segment. While it is very well rounded, it doesn't particularly stand out in any one category, making it somewhat easy to overlook. We're hoping the 2025 model moves the Q5 out from the middle of the pack, giving it something class-leading to hang its hat on.
Competitors to consider
There's no wanting for choice in the compact luxury SUV segment. Vehicles like the Acura RDX and Genesis GV70 offer a lot of luxury features for the money, while the Mercedes-Benz GLC combines tech, traditional luxury, efficiency and performance all in a stylish package. And an all-new X3 from BMW is coming for 2024.
