2026 Nissan Armada

If you're looking for a full-size three-row SUV but don't want one of the usual suspects from Ford or Chevy, the 2026 Nissan Armada might be just right. An all-new version was introduced for 2025. It retains the body-on-frame construction and four-wheel drive capability that make this a traditional SUV that's well suited for towing or occasional off-roading. The latest Armada has a turbocharged V6 that actually has more power than the vehicle's old V8. The third row is on the small side for adults but fine for kids; just note that cargo space is compromised when the third-row seatbacks are up. The Armada was all-new last year and gets one significant update this year: a Nismo model.

Nissan's motorsports division (hence Nis-mo) has gotten its hands on the Armada for 2026. While it's a little difficult to equate a huge body-on-frame SUV and high performance, the Armada Nismo does make meaningful changes. There is more power from the turbocharged V6 (up from 425 horsepower to 460 hp, as long as you use premium fuel), a retuned steering rack for better road feel, and stickier tires, which should help both in the corners and the Armada's overall braking distances. It's also got a far more aggressive body kit — which you'll either love or hate — that Nissan says helps with the car's aerodynamics. The interior also gets some sportier touches like more heavily bolstered seats and red accenting. Whether you need more performance from a behemoth SUV like the Armada is up to you, but we're glad that Nissan did more than just tack on a body kit for the Nismo.

The main alternatives to the 2026 Armada are the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition. All three are capable three-row SUVs that have an established pedigree and loyal followers. Another alternative is the Toyota Sequoia, which was recently redesigned. If off-road capability and towing aren't necessary, check out any number of three-row midsize SUVs, like the Kia Telluride, Toyota Grand Highlander or Nissan's own Pathfinder.

Every Armada has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine (425 horsepower, 516 lb-ft of torque) and a nine-speed automatic transmission.
