Worst new truck buying experience !!!
by imwatchingyou on 10/19/2015I should have heeded the warnings of the reviews but against my better judgement i decided to give them an opportunity to prove them wrong; BIG MISTAKE. I was looking for a '15 F150 King Ranch which I found in their online inventory. After… several emails back/forth with the junior salesmen I decided to wait and go the Conroe dealership the next day. A couple hours later one of the "managers' phoned me and assured me he would give me the 'best deal' possible and top dollar for my trade in since it is in high demand. I mentioned to him the other dealerships offer for my trade and after a few minutes of discussion and against my better judgement I decided to take the hour drive over there. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by the manager and I handed him my keys to start the appraisal. After looking for several minutes they finally found the truck I came to look at and went to go bring it up front for a look and test drive. They said as soon as I completed the test drive they would have my trade in appraisal done and we'd look at some numbers. All seemed to be going well. I walked outside to look at the truck and this vehicle was in the worse condition I've ever seen on a dealers lot. The vehicle was so filthy it was impossible to inspect the exterior. They said the truck was on their storage lot but at this time it's been 3 hours at least since I spoke with the manager that knew I was coming to look at this specific vehicle. The truck interior and test drive was as expected and it performed well. We returned to the dealership and went back to the salesman's desk we were at prior to the test drive. I sat down and the salesman said he was going to get the appraisal. 45 minutes later I flagged him down to ask him what was going on and he said they just started the appraisal! An hour later he finally appeared with the appraisal and offer for my trade. Bear in mind they knew what the other dealership offered me, their offer was $1,500 less. I couldn't believe they were so audacious to offer me less than my other offer. I was immediately irritated and asked the junior salesman to get my keys as I was not going to play games. He asked what it would take to get my business and I told him add $2500 to my trade and few other odds/ends for the one I was buying and we have a deal. I was really expecting them to not meet my requests. He came back in just a few minutes and said they have agreed to my terms. So we start on the initial paperwork and only later finding out he couldn't save any of the documentation. Also he asked me about some of these "dealer options" that were possible to install on the vehicle. I told him no thank you and that I wasn't interested in their added options; he said ok. When i finally got to the point of seeing the finance person they told me that I couldn't get all of the rebates I was originally told were available if choosing 0% interest. There was suddenly $1000 difference they were expecting me to pick up. After more irritation I told them I would split it with them and the general manager agreed to this. Then when sitting with the finance person going over the paperwork he showed me all of the costs which included all the dealer added options that I told the salesman I wasn't interested in, I told him the same thing and that we'd need to remove these items from the invoice as iI wasn't interested in them. He excused himself briefly only to return with another one of the managers who explained that these options were pre-installed and the junior salesman said I agreed to...shocked I told him that was an outright lie evidenced by the fact I refused to sign his document for these extras. He apologized and said this must be a lack in the new saleman's training and he could reduce some of the cost but I had to choke up another $600 or something. Unbelievable, the people are [non-permissible content removed] and extremely UNETHICAL. Heed the review warnings that I failed to and STAY AWAY !!!Dishonest Sales Staff
by timberman1 on 09/18/2015I bought a truck from this dealer on a Saturday in August. I had visited the dealership several times and finally decided on a truck, only they did not have the execat color and needed to order it. They gave me what I wanted for my trade… in, and though we haggled for a while, I felt like I was getting a fair deal. I signed everything you sign when you buy and finance a truck, and was told to expect delivery the following Tuesday. As of 5:00 pm on Tuesday, I had not recieved a call so I began to call. When the salesman finnally returned my call, he explained that they had sold the truck they ahd ordered and did not have a suitable replacement for the price we had agreed on. I was clearly made and headed to the dealership. At the dealership, the new car and truck manager came out to explain that everything was still fine but I needed to pick a different color.... long story short I stay up there 2 more hours and left with their word that we had a few to choose form that we could lock up within business hours the following day. The following day they call me with a truck---- but a big catch... they wanted $1,800 more AND the truck they were offering had a $750.00 cheaper MSRP. They said they mis-appraised my trade in STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE! I have bought a lot of cars and trucks, and visited a lot of dealerships. There are some dealerships you just cant get a deal with- but they are still good people...that was not the case here. The people I dealt with at Planet Ford are the most dishonest people I have ever delt with in the car business.Good Experience
by cmsmith1001 on 08/30/2015We recently bought an F150 and were very pleased with the salesperson, Hilda Garza and the Finance Manager was pleasant as well."Worst Pre-owned sales team"
by rodrigo3 on 08/20/2015I would never recommend buying a pre-owned car from this dealer. They dont know how to keep their word. They change their mind every 15 minutes by increasing the price. I doesnt matter if they wrote it down, was verbal, by phone... I had a… deal with Richard Ramon, then he regret and "sold" the car... the following day I got a call from Juan Ariza, he wanted me to drive from Sugarland to Humble to buy a car, he knew the price Richard and I agreed. So I showed up and the price went up 1,000 USD and Richard had a day off.Sad Beginnig but Hapy Ending
by Lolegend on 12/31/2014Our bad credit put us in a lower position to purchase a vehicle but we felt like we had a chance with Planet Ford's Pre Owned special Finance dept. At times we felt like we were being over looked but with determination and keeping options… open, we felt like we could be successful in getting a deal. Ben worked hard and we know he did but on the day of the deal, we felt forgotten because the follow up calls were made by us and not the salesperson. We came to realize that he was very busy selling cars that day and could not call us as we may have wanted. We just wanted to be kept in the loop on whether or not we had a new car. My wife was disappointed in that because she thought that we had made a connection on our previous visit, since we had spent all day with him. With no calls, she and I both had already thought that the deal was dead and was ready to just be let down again. But he and the sales manager got it done for us and we were overall happy in the end. Thanks to all, that had something to do with getting us this vehicle. Stuart was great, we would love to work with him again. He was very patient and understanding, an asset to the dealership. He was like an excellent closer. So in the end I want to apologize for our mixed emotions while working with Ben on that day. We were excited but really did not show it because of what had occurred above. That was not fair to Ben but still it was just hard for us to quickly get over not being called. We do want to thank him for his efforts. For we know that our credit situation and down payment amount limited him with various options. The next time we come, we will be more prepared. We hope that we can come back in a year and make another purchase with you guys. Only this time I want to buy a Beautiful F150 truck!! That is what I hope to get on my next visit. Thanks again and have a great HolidaySHADY SHADY SHADY
by embee1784 on 12/11/2009Saw a USED car on eBay and decided it would be great to trade my car in to lower my note. They pulled up my credit report from 2 months ago, told me my car wasn't worth anything, said i had really bad credit (since when is 735 bad?),… wanted a co-signer, the sticker on the car was 25000 and they said the best they could do was 23500.... this place is a joke and it's full of [violative content deleted]. Don't ever do business with these people because you will only leave the place pissed off.Typical Try to Rip You Off Dealership
by lhurt31 on 11/14/2009I came in to see how much I could get for my truck with their National Buyback Event. They immediately tried to sell me another car and took little interest in my truck. I did see an expediton I liked and asked them what the price was. They… told me the expedition was 24,995. I told them that that was too expensive for me, the sales person told me to wait and he would do his "best". The came back with the figures 22,000 for the expedition 3500 for my truck and 3000 cash down. I told him no then went back to the little enclosed glass area to do his "best". (I was already another deal with a dealership with same expediton/trim just different color for 19000, 5500 trade in and 2000 cash down). When i told the salesman if he could beat that deal i would buy today. He went back and forth or about an hour and a half telling me each time that that was the lowest but I declined because of my better deal elsewhere. Finally they came down to 19000 after every excuse in the book ( "we are losing money""your credit is bad"(I was already approved for financing)"the other dealership is bad"). But they would not beat the trade in. I asked for my keys 3 times to leave but they would not give them to me so they could do their "best". Finally the sales person called me where the manager (bald guy) was in the glass enclosed place and he started giving me every reason why I couldnt get more for my trade (kbb, nada, edmunds dont sell cars). I had printout from 3 appraisal companies kbb, edmunds, nada and all were 7500 for a rough trade in. My truck was not rough. When I started telling the manager that I was not comfortable and my trade in was worth more the person next to him started laughing. I demanded my keys from him and left. He asked me if I wanted my appraisal printouts but kind of in a condesending manner while more of the staff laughed. The whole evxperience was frustrating and unprofessional. They tried there hardest with every stupid car salesman trick/excuse to screw me out of some money. I will never go to this dealership again or recommend to anyone. You should make a complaint on Ford.com
Great Deal
by n_avi8tor on 05/17/2009I purchased a 2006 F150 SuperCrew from them several weeks ago. We planned to purchase a vehicle at the end of the month when most dealerships are trying to meet their quota, but we weren't in a hurry to buy. This gave us the leverage of… being able to walk away from the table at any time if the deal wasn't good enough. We did just that! We walked away from the table twice and the salesperson came out to our car before we got in to leave and told us they would be able to give us a better deal. They lost the keys to the truck we were interested in and the front tire had a nail in it, however I used this to my advantage to get new tires on the truck and knock the price down another $200 because 1) I couldn't test drive it that day and 2) when they cut new keys for the truck they weren't going to give me new remotes (I later bought two off ebay for $20 each). When we went back to test drive it and ultimately purchase it, I showed them other deals I found online and told them I was ready to walk away from the deal if they couldn't match the price. In the end they got a sale and I walked away happy with a great deal (talked them down $4000 from the original price). If you want to deal with them here are my suggestions: 1) Don't be afraid to walk away from the table (after all, this is Houston, TX there are hundreds of great deals to choose from) 2) DO NOT finance with them!!! They offered me 9.95% but my bank offered me almost half that interest rate. (I was pre-approved from my bank but I wanted to see if they would negotiate the interest rate as well...they didn't even offer a better rate when I told them my bank gave me a great rate.) They wanted me to sign a deal that day even though I wouldn't be able to test drive the vehicle until they cut the new keys for it. I refused to sign a deal. I did get upset with the salesman because they never negotiated the trade-in value for my car. They let the finance dept put it in the contract that they wanted me to sign. I took the contract to the salesman and told him I was upset about the fact that they didn't even negotiate this part of the deal with me. Truthfully, I should have asked them up front before they sent us to the finance dept but I saw this as an opportunity to get a great trade-in value for my car. After bringing this to their attention (in front of other customers) and telling them I thought it was underhanded and dishonest they re-negotiated this part of the deal with me. Keep in mind you are not actually negotiating with the salseperson. You are negotiating with their manager so don't get upset with the salesperson about the deal (unless you are doing it strategically). Just walk away! It took us 4 hours of negotitating to finally get the deal I wanted because the salseman had to go to his manager every time I counteroffered. Overall the dealership was pretty good about dealing. We went to lunch at one point and they told us to take one of their vehicles. They also gave us another truck to drive for the weekend because they were putting new tires and a bed liner on the truck I was going to purchase. Is this really a business???
by mysterynii on 05/07/2009I don't know how this place can stay in business with the scamming and unlawful practices! First all you sign a contract for a car, thinking you have a done deal and 3 days they call you back asking for more money down or bring back the car… and you will get your downpayment pay...wrong!!! I had to wait 38 days and my phones went unanswered...I talked to the so called general manager who was cluess! I had to report this place to the BBB, Akins Army, and the Attorney General before I could get anything out of this people everyone lies there I mean everyone! You don't get all of your money back! Because I had the car that they asked for back. PLEASE PEOPLE READ THE REVIEWS ABOUT A PLACE BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!Terrible Customer Service
by gtn1 on 01/11/2009Advertisments are a scam. Would not listen to what was asked. Would not acknowledge my concerns. Extremely pushy and annoying. Director (RUBEN) did not help the situation, just tried to cover up for the salesman (SAMMY). I Had to… continuously repeat myself. Treated me like I wouldn't know any better than to believe their every word. Would surely not recommend this dealership to anyone. Advise: Be informed on as much as possible before walking into a dealership, it will let you have the upper hand.Ruben must have either been posing as the director or he has been demoted since then. When we went to Planet Ford on I-45 in Dec. of 2009 he was working as a salesperson. We went to look at an 02 lincoln ls that was on Planet Ford's website. We called ahead of time to make sure the car was still there. When we got to the dealership Ruben told us that the person we had talked to on the phone was busy, but he could help us. He also informed us that the car we were looking for had been sold that morning, and asked if there were any other cars that we might be interested in looking at. We told him the other makes and models of cars, and price range that we were interested in. He then spent about two hours showing us what we didn't want at prices well above our price range. This comment should not be considered a hit just on Ruben because we've gone to this dealership before looking for a used car and got the same results. A big waste of time looking at cars we did not want to pay for.
Bait and switch
by TXDefender on 11/25/2008Found a mustang online and called to see if the car was still in stock. Told the manager I lived about 2 hours away and to make sure the car was there, she told me it would be ready and we agreed on a price. Drove all the way to the dealer… in Humble and when I got there they sat me down and attempted to start a contract. I told them I needed to see and test drive the vehicle first. They then told me they sold the car over the weekend but had a newer, more expensive vehicle available. I told them I called ahead and was told the vehicle was ON the lot! Drove home another 2 hours empty handed. I was taken by the old bait and switch. If this is how they are going to do business I will never buy from any of the Planet Ford dealers ever! I recommend you stay away from them.Never believe the internet ads
by kimberkimi on 06/24/2008My husband did some research online to find trucks he was interested in. On Saturday, we are shopping for cars. He asked me to call Planet Ford about this sweet used Ford F250 4x4 Super Duty he really liked. Spoke with a really nice sales… guy that sounded like he was looking in the computer to see if the truck was still available. I told him we were in Katy, TX and please double check this truck was still there because the dealership was in Humble. "Yes ma'am, truck is still here waiting on you guys to come and buy it." We drove almost an hour to get to this dealership for the guy to say I'm sorry, that truck was sold days ago. Not only that but all their used trucks were $7000-10000 more than all the other dealerships in town!Great Experience
by michwolv on 06/04/2014updated 06/02/2025Over the past 2 weeks, I visited at least 4 other dealerships to test drive similar vehicles. Planet Ford had the nicest salesmen. They were relatively low pressure and very friendly. I wound up getting an incredible deal on a truck.Easy

by haglpop on 06/08/2012updated 06/02/2025If you value honor and integrity stay away. If you are sooo rich and don't care about your money or your dealers honor and integrity this is the place to go. I suggest you heed the warnings in all the comments posted. Everyone is a director… at all Randall Reeds dealerships so do not be flattered when they mention they are a director. I guarantee that you will be dealt each comment under these postings and probably some that are not. Zac Menard the internet sales director stated to me when promising to put a spray on cargo liner on my truck "I have to add the price to some idiots car or truck to be able to do that for you". Well it turns out that Zac is [non-permissible content removed] because I have already cost the dealership 10 new sales and will continue to cost them sales til I reach 1000. Now for a mere $2000, they lost at least $50,000 in profit. Also I now take my truck to Lone Star Ford for service. Since I know that Randall Reed does not care about his dealerships. I gave this Randall Reed a one star rating because there is no minus ratings and I was forced to give them that to post this comment. Of all the deals I have made, I have encountered hard sales, pressured sales, and silly priced sales. But all of them honored all commitments and prices. They stuck by their name, honor and integrity. I will do all my business now with Lone Star Ford because I know they use hard sales but when I say no to an issue they respect it. Nor do they call me an idiot for going to their dealership. To be fair to Mr. Randall Reed I tried contacting him personally about my issues. Of course no response. First timeI tried calling he was on his private airplane between Denver and his home, next time he was touring Europe for 3 months. I called when he was supposed to have returned. Well he was somewhere else on vacation. This is a person whom apparently happily enjoys seeing his name tarnished. Every one is someone when his name is good standing and honors all commitments for the sake of preserving his name. Since he apparently is a nobody without honor or integrity one can only agree that he does not care about his name. It might as well be mud. I am thrilled that he is soo rich that he can afford to lose potential and repeat customers. I will sure do my best to cost him plenty of customers. 10 customers down and 990 to go.get everything in writing
by horn38 on 11/05/2011updated 06/02/2025They change the numbers and slide you the paper to sign..... read the paper before you sign it!Same mode of operation, even after the Manager was notified. This is the way they have and are doing business. Its just like the bad representation of used car salesmen in the 1950s. This is what they live for everyday at this place, try to cheat their customers with a $450 "Consumer's Benefits Package". LMAO, they meant "Customer Fleecing Package" RUN AWAY
You had better read everything. They charge more than what Ford Motor company charges for the same thing. The service warranties they sell are by the most part worthless. Not to mention expensive. I can guarantee they tack on at least $400 more than fords cost for 5yr 60k mile warranty.

DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF....YOU HAVE BEEN… WARNED Randall Reed Planet Dealerships will not stick to the deals they agree to and will try to slip in hidden charges. Mr. Cramer (MANAGER), 11-29-2011 Your employees do not stick to there agreements. I drove 100 miles all the way from Katy to your Humble store only to not be told the truth and almost paid a hidden charge of about $1200 more than agreed. Someone over there should be fired. Your staff is awful. The bad sales people are Musa Zayid, Kirk Dudley, someone named Zach(played like he was a sales manager) and one of your managers...maybe Billy Harvey(not sure) ALL these guys made me a promise to sell me : VIN # 3FAHP0HA7CR224386 for a competitive matched price of $18595 +$295 +TTL including adding backup sensors. ALL three of the bad salesmen above swore to me, on the phone, before I drove 100 miles that we had a deal and that there would be no further price discussion. Before I went to the dealership, I called the main number after Musa Zayid said it was a deal at $18890, and he agreed he would include the additional backup sensors and I asked to speak to the Sales Manager to confirm the deal. Musa Zayid put someone on the line who said he was the sales manager ( most likely Zach) and he confirmed the deal. When I got there and sat down with Dudley, he started with a 18755 price? and then said the TTL + documentation fee of 149 total additional would be $2651(should have been closer to $1487), and wanted me to sign a blank piece of paper agreeing with a total of $21406. He got upset when I ask him how he got the additional $2651 and he said "That was the deal" I told him to show me how he got that $2651 and he said I would see it on the papers when they were drawn up after I signed his paper. They tried to add on and hide the additional $1164 saying it was standard fees!! Shame on Randall Reed Ford in Humble Texas. This is their work culture of trying to slip in hidden charges. They had no intention of doing the deal they agreed to before I ever left home. I talked to the Manager the next day and he agreed they have problems. They cannot meet their sales quotas because customers that are paying attention are wise to their inflating the drive out final cost and walk away. Do not be one of their victims. All their dealerships in the Greater Metro Houston area have horrible reviews all over the internet. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time at Randall Reed car dealerships....this has been going on for at least a decade and hasn't changed in 2011.It happens exactly to me at Planet Ford I-45 too, I even had a copy of the printed email with quoted price. My sales person was Mrs. Lauren Forgie (Internet Director). After wasting 3 hours my time in the dealership she came to me with an innocent face and claiming she made a mistake in her quote and I ended up paying $900 more than written internet quote. I JUST CALL THEM [violative content deleted]. What you call this?
See this website BEFORE you buy.....http://planetford.yolasite.com/
This is typical Randall Reed sales tactics. Randall Reed teaches his salesmen/women to renege or mistake every quote possible. Thats because his dad probably never taught him what the word honorable means. A buyer would have to deal with an honorable dealership that know what the word honor and reputation mean. Since Randall Reed evidently does not know or even care what they mean.
