  • Worst salespeople I ever dealt with

    1 out of 5 starsby someone3 on 10/25/2008

I first came to Showcase after getting an email that they are lowering the price of a vehicle by $6,000. When I left, the director (Chris Dao) call me afterwards saying that they are lowering the price by $3,000 more. So I came back the next day, hoping I can get the car right away. How wrong I was! when I got there, they said that the $3,000 is already part of the $6,000 discount. Then they try to lowball me on my trade which is worth $7000 and offered less than $3K. Eventually, one of the managers offered me an amount I think is still high considering the "huge discounts" they were luring me in. I said that I will think about it because I have to consult me wife on the price because it was higher than what we expected. Now comes in the owner and the general manager, offering me to take the vehicle home overnight to see if I could sway my wife to buy it. I still declined. The following day, I was ready to accept the offer. When I came back the next day, the manager I talked to had a day-off and when I mentioned the amount to Chris Dao, he went ballistic because the amount extended by the manager and owner was too low for him to believe. I explained that is exactly what they offered and asked me to come back if I wanted to purchase the vehicle. At this point, Dao was shouting already, explaining the price was not possible and offered an amount $2500 higher. What a [violative content deleted]! Then one of the salespeople (Deneen) insulted me by not being "man" enough to make a decision. Just because I have to confer with my wife, does it make me less of a "man?" Again, what the hell was that? Why must they insult their customers? Unbelievable set of people!

  • Dishonest & Arrogant

    1.2 out of 5 starsby john_nash on 08/08/2008

"There is no smoke without fire" - and so are the reviews here. I intended to purchase a Civic LX Sedan and got the dealership contacts through Edmunds. One female from Showcase Honda contacted me and offered me an unofficial quote after taking some basic information from me. She also had a discount applied to the so-called MSRP because I work for XYZ. And then, when I go in person to the dealership, they show me a Civic that has a slight dent at the rear. And ofcourse, the lady that I had spoken to earlier that day wasn't there to assist me. Isn't this a common feature throughout these reviews? I made my budget very clear on the phone to the lady that I'd spoken earlier that day. And now this new 'salesman' who comes to assist me has no clue on the price that this lady had quoted to me. And they start from scratch again. Very dishonest business process. And it is purely intentional. And what's more, they were almost bullying me to make a commitment right there at 8:45PM. I wasn't comfortable and lucked out without making any commitment that night. The next day I call this lady and tell her that the price (though slightly higher than my budget) is OK with me but I'd like purchase a car without a dent and was enquiring about another Civic and then she is like "I can't switch the cars now. The price was reduced because the car has a dent." So, the lady knew the car had a dent and that's the reason the price was reduced but never mentioned that to me. And she was outrightly arrogant. Double standards are abundant here. I would not recommend this dealership. I wish there were some -ve ratings.
    • I agree, the sales lady did nothing except exactly what she was told from her management. The management at Showcase is pathetic. If you decide to purchase a vehicle here, you deserve the problems. I feel you should always trust your instincts, if it feels bad just leave. There are great Honda dealerships. My husband and I bought vehicles from both San Tan Honda and Tempe. We went to Showcase first because of the pricing on our last vehicle, but left quickly when the BS started. We ended up at San Tan, and they were amazing. 2 years ago we bought at Tempe after a bad experiance with Showcase. Its amazing the difference you feel as soon as you walk in the door.

    • It's amazing how many people try to blame salespeople for their own inability to conduct a sales negotiation. I purchased a vehicle from Showcase and will probably purchase another in the next few months. We have sent several friends to Showcase and they have also purchased vehicles. Each of us has received a fair price and Showcase has followed through on all of their commitments stated verbally and in writing. Purchasing a vehicle is never painless. There is stress involved and it causes some rash emotional decisions and viewpoints. Do your homework, get everything in writing, follow through when you make a commitment. I am not a salesman, just a consumer and longtime Edmunds member that wants other members to get the best deal they can.

    • The person in the above review has been sent an apology email from the female employee for her "arrogance" as he described today. She also says in her response " He did not recieve a price quote. He was emailed a price coupon only. I did not discuss the price with him over the phone because he was in a meeting and could not talk to me. He told me he could come in and discuss the price at the dealership. No prices were agreed to over the phone. The mentioned budget was not discussed. It was only mentioned. The Civic LX that has a dent in it was offered to be repaired and delivered in perfect condition. The Civic was not pre-selected by us to sell to him. It was picked out at the time he went out and looked at the inventory. The Fleet Director offered to sell him the 2008 Civic LX Sedan Automatic Transmission with the dent fixed for $16,700.00 to wind up being $18,800.00 out the door. He passed on that deal. Chris Dao the Fleet Manager even gave him a ride home in the rain. He called the next day to say he will agree to the same price on another Civic coming in off the delivery truck.

  • HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

    1.8 out of 5 starsby mz_gina on 05/23/2008

On May 8th I purchased a 2009 Toyota Camry CE at Showcase Honda on 14th Street and Camelback Road in Phoenix. I went to Showcase instead of a Toyota dealership because I had purchased a car from them before and was very satisfied, and was assured by the sales rep, Kenneth Smith (Kenny) that they could get me the vehicle that I wanted. I am extremely unhappy with how business was handled, however, and have more than a couple of complaints about Showcase’s sales team, and their unprofessional business practices. I understand how lengthy the process can be, including the financing, but when everything was completed my salesman, Kenny, told me to go to the dealership to pick up my new car. This was completely pointless, though, because after I had waited there for about forty minutes Kenny told me they didn't have the car yet and that I would have to return the next day. There was absolutely no communication between salesman and customer; he did not contact me to let me know that car was not available yet or that I shouldn't waste my time and gasoline to return there that day. I understand that a salesman may do his best to get you into the car you want, but he is trying to sell you a car. I went to the dealership prepared to hear salesman-talk, but blatant lying is another thing. I specifically told Kenny, that I was only interested in buying a car with keyless entry. Kenny said this one did come with it when he was showing me the car and that he would get me that key with remote on Monday, May 12th because the car was not paid off at Camelback Toyota yet, therefore I was only given a valet key. When I returned again on Monday, May 12th, the keys/remote were still not available and I was told by the sales manager that I should return that Friday, May 16th, so I felt that I was given the run around. When I returned to Showcase May 16th, I was then told that Camelback Toyota had lost the keys and that Camelback Toyota would provide copies to me the following morning. My dad went to Camelback Toyota, on my behalf, to pick up the keys/remote on Saturday, May 17th and was told by them that this Camry model does not come with keyless entry! When my dad then went back to Showcase, Kenny claimed that he had informed me that the car did not come with keyless entry. I was very upset! I was misled and purposefully lied to. I phoned Showcase and spoke with the Sales Manager Martin Peters. After I explained the situation, Martin offered to have keyless entry put in at their service department. I agreed that would satisfy the situation, but that I would not return there myself, so he offered to have someone pick up my car at work, which I accepted. At that point I was satisfied that my problem had been resolved. Fifteen minutes later, I receive a call from Martin, telling me that Kenny, the salesman, stated that he did inform me that the car did not come with keyless entry, basically calling me a liar. Martin said he had Kenny in front of him and proceeded to hand the phone to Kenny for me to confront him myself and tell him how I was feeling. I did talk to him to let him know that I was extremely dissatisfied with his service, reminded him how I specifically had asked for the Camry that came with keyless entry. He did not deny that fact, but just said that he informed me that the Camry did not come with power features, such as power seats. This did not seem to be a logical answer to me on the subject. Just because Kenny had previously said that this vehicle didn’t have power seats did not mean to me that I should assume that it did not have the keyless entry feature when I specifically asked for a car with that feature. Additionally, it was an extremely unprofessional move for the Sales Manager to throw me back to the salesman who I was complaining about and did not want to deal with anymore. For Martin to just pass the phone to Kenny was very disrespectful to me. It was Kenny’s word against mine, an

  • Horrible Fleet Dealer Experience

1.7 out of 5 starsby dawnleto on 12/09/2007

I thought the point of going through the fleet dealer was that you could get your price over the phone and avoid haggling when you went in to the dealership to purchase your car. I was really wrong. I agreed to a price with the fleet salesman over the phone and told him when I would be in to test drive the car. I even made it a point to specifically ask him if there were any other charges I should know about and he said no, that was final price. Here's what happened when arrived for my appt to buy the car: First, the salesman I spoke to over the phone was conveniently busy when I showed up at the agreed upon time so they gave me to someone else. Then the car wasn't on the lot (even though I was told he would have it pulled up and ready to go for me). So we had to drive to another lot and hunt around for the car. We finally went for our test drive and liked the car so we were ready to get the deal done. Once we sat down though, she started tacking on all these extra charges for "options" that were already on the car. How is it an "option" if it is already on the car? That doesn't make it too optional. I explained that when I called and agreed to the price, he checked his inventory and he knew what car he was quoting me a price on. He knew the options were already on the car and if there were extra charges he should have told me. Then she proceeded to show me their "invoice" cost of the car which I knew wasn't accurate because of my research on Edmunds. The whole time she spoke to me as condescendingly as she possibly could. The bottom line was that they wanted about $1,000 more than what I was quoted over the phone She said she couldn't sell it for less than that. Now I knew why the salesman I had spoken to over the phone was busy, it was so I couldn't hold him to what he quoted me. At that point we walked out. It was a very frustrating experience and very disappointing. I'll never visit Showcase Honda again.
    • I am not shocked, if you have ever been in a more respectable dealership, you would immediatley see the differences. I shopped over the internet and I left my phone number on all of the information sheets. These people called me sometimes 5 times a day. I finally went in and they were insane. I felt like I stepped back into the 1980's. Showcase needs to move with the time. This old school way of dealing with customers doesn't work. they usto be the number one Honda dealership in Arizona. That changed, because the people who were tricked into buying there first vehicle here, will never come back. Its the old fool me once theory. You can tell by there unprofessional sales staff, and there management looks like they couldn't get a job at any respectful dealership. I was literally grossed out by the whole situation.Shop at Tempe or San Tan.

      by rwilliams1122 on 12/06/2010

    • unfortunately, they refuse to negotiate by email at all. I tried numerous times even asking why, if it is an internet sales department, they can not negotiate over the internet. All I was told was that they will only negotiate in person. I will be making another visit to the dealership to try and negotiate the price however it goes I will report back here and leave a review.

      by lealla on 12/06/2010

    • I read your comment about your horrible Fleet experience and I saw that you mentioned the salesperson was a "she" in the Fleet Department. I recently purchased my 2008 Honda Civic from Trinity Durant at Showcase Honda. Trinity was prompt to get back with me in email communication. Her price was upfront and she disclosed the options on the Civic and told me the related costs involved. I walked in and the Civic was already cleaned up and she walked me right into the finance manager's office ( Matt Laroussa ) who was also informative and helpful. I would recommend Trinity because she was honest, easy to deal with and knowledgeable. It would be a surprise to me if you are speaking of the same person that was very professional in her dealings with me.

    • next time, use e-mail, not the phone that way you have it in writing. You can also record your conversation because you are making a contract and it is not illegal to do so in AZ.

      by lja364 on 12/06/2010

    • I wrote the positive review here and am really surprised that your experience was so dissimilar. I also went through the Edmunds site for pricing. It took a lot of negotiating by email to get the price we wanted. We agreed on an out the door price and when we showed up at the dealership there was no haggling or handoff to another salesperson. We did have to go to the second lot to look at the vehicle, but it was right around the corner and is used for staging all of their new vehicles. You should complain to the general manager for the way you were treated. He was very complimentary of our salesperson for making us happy customers, so he should hear what you have to say.

  • Showcase Experience

5 out of 5 starsby beebow on 11/27/2007

We recently purchased a new Honda Odyssey through Showcase Honda and had a very pleasant experience. Our sales person Trinity Durant did exactly what she said she would in a professional and competent manner. She made the purchase stress and hassle free. We will recommend her, and Showcase, to friends and family.

The sales tactics that I was exposed to can only be described as sleazy. As soon as I arrived on the lot, the salesmen swarmed me like a pack of dingos spotting fresh meat. I was ushered into the office, asked to hand over my carkeys and license--which weren't returned until an hour later at the end of my visit. Hmmm--and led through introductory paperwork that pushed trading in and financing (ka-ching!), even though I said at the outset that I wasn't interested in either one. During the test drive, the salesman immediately cranked up the radio and talked so fast and so loud I couldn't think, much less hear road noise (And they thought I couldn't see through this?) Back at the office, the games really began. The salesman input rudimentary data into the computer, and with a flair, asked "And how would you like your name to appear on the title?" I pointed out that we weren't even close to that, but he asked again for good measure. It reminded me of the Publishers Clearing House ruse of asking for directions to your house. Gawd! The salesman then opened the negotiation with a laughable figure, which I calmly declined. He cranked up the pressure. Repeat process 10 more times. This guy was completely wasting my time (at one point, asking me, "Are you my friend??"), so I got up to leave and was swarmed again by the The Manager (who so reeked of cigarette smoke that I almost fell backwards), The Trade-In Expert and few extras. They ganged up to convince me a final time that my low-mileage luxury trade-in was a complete [violative content deleted]--so maybe I should just donate it to them? My self-esteem has nothing to do with my car, but this posse was doing its best to beat both of us down. It was insulting. Finally, as a last ditch effort, the salesman produced a final offer that was within reason. I asked him to write it down, which he did. A few days later the Internet Manager called, and I told her the written offer I had already received. She said that offer had to be rescinded because the showroom salesman was clueless (she got that right!) and had lied to me--the "real" offer stood at $2K more. Enough! I don't expect car-buying to be enjoyable or even pleasant, but to endure salepeople who are slimy, insulting, and beyond unprofessional is asking too much. I did end up buying a Honda--at Honda of Tempe, where I was treated like an intelligent human being AND got a good deal.

  • Great Decision to go to Showcase Honda

I was going from dealer to dealer and I wish I would have just saved the time and gone to Showcase Honda first. I know Hondas have a great reputation and the resale value is important. Lisa was super and did not pressure me at all. She really cared if the Accord was right for me and my budget, then found a way to make it work for me. Everybody there treated me really nicely. Even the music at Showcase Honda was much better than the music playing at other dealerships. I strongly recommend checking them out, even if you were not considering a Honda.

I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with my buying experience through Showcase Honda. They were tripping over themselves to provide the best possible service from the minute I contacted them online to the moment I drove out of their lot with my new 2013 Honda CR-V. I was very apprehensive about working with a car dealership because I am a woman and know nothing about cars (when it comes to under the hood stuff). I was paired with Brandy, who couldn't have been more straightforward, honest and easy to work with. I was also pleased with the finance team. I have had other experiences where they try to sell you things you don't want/need or they try to "slip in" costs and hope you won't notice. No shenanigans at this dealership. Very honest and clearly wanted to make sure I was happy with not only my purchase but also the buying experience. Sorry if I sound overzealous in my review, but I'm just so pleased that no one tried to mess with me and just sold me a car at a fair price. It's the little things. :)

I bought an Odyssey from Showcase. The sales rep and finance & insurance person intentionally and artificially inflated the out of the door price by $537.03 more than what I agreed on pricing agreement that I initially signed and initialed after which shows the OTD price of $36,198.88, Interest Rate of 2.99%, Term of 60 months and Down Payment of $7,000. The finance & insurance person also lied about the true cost of the extra warranty. After I got into a room to sign all documents, the finance & insurance person told me that “the monthly payment on the car alone was $570 and if I want the extra warranty, it would cost me only $4.43”. Based on what were agreed earlier and how low the additional monthly payment on the extra warranty was, I signed all the documents. I have become responsible for the monthly payment of $574.43. But, after I got out and pulled my laptop out to do my own calculations, I later found out that the payment should have been only $525 for the car alone instead of $570. So, the payment on the car is intentionally and falsely inflated by $45. The finance & insurance person exploited my inexperience for his own benefit. He used this to fool me that I could buy the extra warranty at the unbelievably cheap price of only $4.43 per month. But, the falsely inflated out of the door price and the majority of the extra warranty is already imbedded in $570.

I purchased a "certified" 2010 Honda Pilot. The salesman knew less about the car than I did. It took more than a month (and several return visits) to get a full set of keys, proof of extended warranty, an owner's manual, a correct navigation DVD, and the navigation manual. Some "certified" car, huh! All the people at the dealership were friendly, just not helpful or knowledgeable. Oh, by the way, they also created an extra $2,000 in paperwork and prep costs after arriving at an agreed price. Avoid this dealer!

After contacting several dealerships, Showcase Honda was the most attentive, and the nicest. They were all about having a great buying experience and that is truly what I got from the beginning to end. Danielle R greeted us when we arrived, and she was nice, attentive and walked us through the whole buying process with ease. I never felt pressure to buy anything I didn't want, or to get upgrades that I didn't want. I would highly recommend Danielle and Showcase Honda. My 2013 CR-V is great and I love it. You can't go wrong with this dealership. They will beat any competitors price, and they want to make sure you are a part of the Showcase family. It didn't just feel like a sale, it felt like I was building a friendship.

He help me choose the perfect Van for our family and got me an excellent price. I was surprise on his knowledge and he made our experience smooth and stress free. I decided to get extra accessories and he even got me a special price on them. I was thinking on buying a hybrid for my wife and after checking the final deal I got on the Odyssey I am getting one from Showcase and from Peter. He made my car buying experience an awesome one. I am recommending Showcase to all my friends and family members. Corey

Instead of trying to sell me a car he actually listen! and understood I wanted to lower payment. He found a beautiful Element for us and was able to lower my payment and get me a newer car. I am very happy with Showcase Honda. I have a Honda Fit and when I am ready to trade it and going to Showcase and Peter by far the best experience I had getting cars. Charon

Sent a request via Edmunds and also stopped by this dealer. This was the worst dealer we had contact with (out of 20+ dealerships). In short, they wasted our time and are dishonest. Got the hard sell on the lot (from Tom F) and it was hard to get the information we were asking for. We also got different (inaccurate/untrue) answers regarding dealer packages, etc. And then the calls started. We told them we didn't want calls. And we told them that if they called us too often, they would lose our business. And that we were serious. There was a call at least every other day, sometimes even calls 3 days in a row, with one day even having multiple calls. With the Edmunds request, I started a dialogue with Aleksander I. I also got e-mails from Matt La when Alex was not in. I told them exactly what we wanted and asked for an OTD price. They never could give me this, even when I pointed out where they included (or left out) what we requested. Along with this, Alex scheduled a "test drive" appointment. This led to even more e-mails and telephone calls to remind me of an appointment that I never made. The number of people we dealt with this dealership makes me believe that it's not just a bad salesman, but a problem with the dealership as a whole. In total, easily over 10 calls over a two week period, along with 11 e-mails back and forth to never get straight answers or what we asked for.

I bought two vehicles here in the past. They were pushy and liked to add in things I didn't agree to, but they were conveniently located and I persisted enough to get an okay deal. This time I went because they had advertised a used vehicle for a very good price. I called to verify and they tell me yes, it's in stock. When I get there they say that it just sold, but they have many others (not nearly as well priced) they'd like to work with me on. I left and bought from a different dealership that was an absolute pleasure in comparison. When I got home I noticed that Showcase had just relisted on Craigslist the exact same phantom vehicle that they drew me in with in the morning. I guess it's a nice ruse to get people in the door, but this will be the last time I even consider shopping there.

Before moving to AZ, I had dealt with the same car dealer for nearly 20 years. I found another Honda dealer in Phoenix right away but was extremely disappointed with their business practices and after over a year of dealing with them, needed to find someone new. I was referred to Showcase by a friend. I was immediately impressed by Deneen at Showcase. I explained to her what happened with the other dealer, I told her what I was looking for and I told her what I was willing to pay (which was a price i wasnt even sure she could get to). Within a week, I was driving home in my dream car that I had purchased at my dream price. Deneen and the people at Showcase were awesome!!! They were straightforward, honest and made me feel that I was the only customer they had (even though the showroom and lot were full of other customers). I have definately found a dealer for the next 20 years. I highly recommend Showcase Honda if you are looking for a top quality car at a great price and superior customer service that leaves you knowing how much your business is appreciated!

I went to an autoshow and liked the CRV. I went to Showcase on Camelback afterwards to make a purchase but wanted to test drive first. I wanted to make a purchase but the manager treated me like I was just a dumb female, so I left. Unfortunately they had my phone number and called me at least 3 times a week for over 2 yrs. I worked graveyard so it really made me mad having them awaken me. Even after I told them I already bought from another dealer, it didn't stop. I complained to their front office, the calls continued. I finally called the main Honda headquarters in Colorado, they were able to get the calls to stop. I tell everyone I meet about their tactics. I would never advise anyone of using this dealership.

I recommend avoiding this dealership, they are dishonest, will blatantly lie, pull your credit without authorization and Mr. Lechner will avoid calling you back. Mr. Lechner I believe is in charge of there financing/accounting. Tom I believe is the manager. Tom's assistant will call and try and smooth things over but do not expect anything. I went into the dealership already approved through Honda financing and knew what I wanted. I will skip the sales person except to say that do not give any personal information out. After the deal was done a couple days later I get a call from my bank inquiring about a loan I was applying for which I had not. What was going on was Showcase was trying to sale out the loan and pulled my credit without authorization. I already was financed through Honda financing corp. so there was no need to have pulled my credit or send it to other creditors, all they were trying to do was better there bottom line and they got caught. Tom the manager was the one I got to talk to and supposedly he talked to his staff about it. I take that with a grain of salt. Anyway after I told him that it was approved and I had a letter from honda finance that they better not try anything else. So on to the next part of the story, 3 weeks later I get a call from the finance company on my previous vehicle which had a balance owing on it and said I had missed a payment, I informed them that it had been traded in and that it should have been paid off by showcase honda. I then called showcase and put in touch with Mr Lechner who informed me that they do not pay off the trade-in till funding comes in. Well I called Honda financing and they informed me that they will not fund the vehicle until they have proof of payoff. I believe Honda Financing over showcase, Search for other reviews, I am not the first they have messed with or played games with. I called Mr Lechner back 3 times and he never returned a call, I guess if you get caught doing something you should not you just try avoiding the problem like he did. Rita who is Tom's assistant called later and we had a discussion, and I asked to find out why he did not call back, she said she would look into it, never heard back again. What a great place to do business with a place that deceives and will not handle problems. My loan on old vehicle all of a sudden got taken care of --- amazing ---. I had in the contract when I purchased the vehicle work to be performed by the service department , but after the experience with the sales and buying, I am leery of ever letting them near my vehicle. There is a lot more to this, but I am trying to keep it short, the next stop is the attorney general and lot more detail. If you catch them doing dishonest business send a letter to the AG, maybe they will get there licence pulled and put out of business, one can only hope that a dishonest business such as Showcase Honda in Phoenix, AZ will be gone soon. PS - Honda Financing did great and no problems with them, just Showcase. Member Comments: Would never recommend to anyone Showcase Honda, avoid at all costs, read and believe other reviews not only here but on other sites.
