Overview
The 2024 Pacifica isn't just Chrysler's versatile minivan; it's also the only model in this American brand's portfolio now that the 300 sedan has been discontinued. This single-vehicle lineup might be an unfortunate reality for Chrysler dealers but there's still a lot to like about the Pacifica. It's available with all-wheel drive and has a plug-in hybrid version that can drive about 32 miles on battery power alone. It's the only 2024 minivan to offer a plug-in powertrain that can really help you save on gas if you frequently charge up your van. Non-hybrid models also get the handy Stow 'n Go seating feature, which allows the second-row seats to disappear into the floor and open up the cabin for just about any cargo you can throw in it.

EPA Estimated Electric Range
The Pacifica will automatically switch to gas when the electric battery is low.Electric cars typically experience 1-2% of range loss per year with slightly faster degradation over the first 50,000 miles as the car settles into its long term state, according to Recurrent's study of 15,000 EVs.
Estimated range mapThis map is a visual representation of the possible one-way and round-trips by this vehicle (on a full charge) from the geometric center of Ashburn, Virginia. The depicted ranges are based on the estimated new vehicle range value provided by the EPA, rounded down to miles for one-way and miles for round-trip. Actual range will vary depending on the condition of this vehicle’s battery pack, how you drive, driving conditions and other factors.

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica typically seats seven but can accommodate up to eight people with the optional second-row bench seat on Touring L trims. Storage space inside the van is plentiful, with cubbies, trays and other thoughtful storage solutions spread throughout the cabin. When the middle seats are in use, the floor wells they fold into for Stow 'n Go double as hidden cargo compartments. But it's for carrying cargo where the Pacifica makes its strongest case. On non-hybrid models the second row easily folds into the floor, and so does the third, creating 140.5 cubic feet of cargo space, all with a very flat floor that doesn't require wrestling heavy seats out of the van. It makes the Pacifica a strong consideration for anybody who regularly needs to haul larger loads.
Competitors to consider
The Chrysler Pacifica competes with other minivans on the market, including the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival. Soon, the Pacifica will also compete with the all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, an EV that harkens back to the original VW Microbus made popular in the 1960s and '70s. Check out our test team's Expert Rating below to find out how the Pacifica stacks up to its competitors.

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid comes packed with all the latest technology and has the usual minivan traits including copious amounts of passenger and cargo space. But its secret weapon is its plug-in hybrid powertrain that provides smooth and punchy acceleration plus an EPA-estimated 32 miles of range without burning a drop of gasoline.
Charge up the hybrid batteries often and you may not see the gas station for months. The fuel savings plus the available tax credits make the Pacifica Hybrid potentially the best value in its class.
How does the Pacifica Hybrid drive? As a plug-in hybrid, this Pacifica is the only minivan with the ability to run purely on electric propulsion. When in EV mode, instant torque moves the van sharply and smoothly, though a heavy foot can quickly deplete the battery of its potential range.
When operating in hybrid mode, running on both gas and electricity, the transmission response can get out of step with your inputs if you ask for a lot at once. It likes moderate acceleration but will oblige if you need a little midrange punch. Ultimately, if you plug in often you'll enjoy it more.
Braking is progressive and predictable. The brake quirks we experienced in the Toyota Sienna Hybrid do not apply to this van. It's not as nimble as the Honda Odyssey or the Sienna, and the turning radius feels noticeably larger.
Comfort
8/10
How comfortable is the Pacifica Hybrid? The front seat padding is firm, but ultimately we found the seats comfortable for long drives. The available heating and cooling for the front seats work great too. The Hybrid's second-row seats provide superior comfort and legroom compared to the Stow 'n Go seats that come in the standard Pacifica. Third-row comfort is acceptable.
The ride is compliant and generally smooth across varying road surfaces. There is body lean when the road starts to twist, but in this respect it's pretty comparable to other modern minivans. The Pacifica Hybrid is pretty quiet, too, as long as you're in EV mode. The V6 engine is surprisingly noisy once it fires up.
Interior
9/10
How’s the interior? The controls in the Pacifica are easy to use. The knobs for the radio and climate control are well placed and within easy reach of the driver. Chrysler's additional radio volume and tuning controls on the back of the steering wheel make a lot of sense to us too.
It's easy to step in and out of the Pacifica Hybrid thanks to its low doorsills, large door openings, tall roofline and well-positioned seats. There's a lot of adjustable range from the driver's seat and steering wheel. Legroom is abundant up front, and large windows all around provide great visibility and limit blind spots. The optional 360-degree camera system makes maneuvering in tight spots even easier.
The second and third rows are also comfortable and provide adequate legroom. Second-row captain's chairs slide and recline far enough to adjust to the needs of their occupants. Even adults should be able to tolerate the third row for shorter drives.

How’s the tech? The Pacifica Hybrid's Uconnect infotainment system excels in ease of use, features and smartphone integration. It's highlighted by a large touchscreen with crisp graphics and prompt touch and voice response. It offers Bluetooth and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration systems. Multiple USB ports are also on hand for your devices. Available mobile web connections include Alexa pairing and the Uconnect app that allows you to control some van functions via your phone. An optional seatback video system can stream media to the van as well.
Advanced driver aids are plentiful and standard, including forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise (it will stop and go without additional driver input) and lane keeping assistance, to name a few. The optional 360-degree camera is a worthy add-on.
Storage
9/10
How’s the storage? As 18th-century English poet and minivan connoisseur Alexander Pope once said, "To utility is minivan." Erm, or something like that. The Pacifica PHEV, like its peers, has a deep well for storage behind the third-row seat. The third row manually folds into the floor when not used. The second-row seats slide forward or can be removed completely, requiring external storage, for a max cargo space of 140.5 cubic feet. There are also pockets, cupholders and cubbies for every cherished keepsake your kids find on the ground.
Speaking of junior humans, car seat accommodation in the Pacifica Hybrid is great. The LATCH anchors are easily accessed. Sliding second-row chairs allow extra space for rear-facing child seats and parent access. And buckles are kid-friendly for those in boosters.

Fuel Economy
10/10
How economical is the Pacifica Hybrid? The EPA estimates the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid can drive 32 miles using all-electric power. After that, the gas V6 switches on and you can expect to get 30 mpg in combined city/highway driving. Fully recharging a depleted battery takes about two hours using a Level 2-style 220-volt power source.
The Pacifica Hybrid is at its best when you maximize the electric battery. Take our experience on the 115-mile Edmunds evaluation route, for example. We returned a whopping 44.1 mpg on our route, a figure matched only by the 2021 Sienna Hybrid. But there is a caveat. That included a full battery charge. But even if you ignore the electric range, the Pacifica still returned a remarkable 31.9 mpg as a traditional hybrid.
Value
8/10
Is the Pacifica Hybrid a good value? The Pacifica Hybrid is a strong value. It costs more to start than the regular Pacifica, but potential federal and state tax credits or incentives can effectively blunt that initial hit and make the Pacifica Hybrid a rather intriguing value.
On the downside, the van's interior isn't quite as nice in person as it looks in photos. Overall fit and finish wasn't especially impressive, and our test van had some electrical gremlins. But Chrysler does offer a lengthy warranty on hybrid components and the battery, as well as five years of roadside assistance.
Wildcard
7.5/10
It's one thing to say the Pacifica looks attractive among minivans. But we think Chrysler gave it just enough style to rank it above some SUVs out there. It's not particularly fun to drive, but there is satisfaction to be derived from driving a big people mover like this and not using any gasoline.
Which Pacifica does Edmunds recommend?
The midlevel Touring L trim level represents the best value for the regular Pacifica. It gets you a number of extra features for not that much more money than the base model. If you're buying a Pacifica Hybrid, go with the Select trim.

Not ready to make the jump to a fully electric car just yet but want something more efficient and eco-friendly than a regular gas car? Not to worry: There are plenty of hybrid and plug-in hybrids on the market for you to choose from, and we’ve narrowed it down to the best in each category. Join Edmunds’ Lauren McCay as she walks you through the best hybrid and plug-in… hybrid vehicles on the market in the video above!
82 MPGeMPGe is the official metric that the EPA uses to measure the efficiency of alternative-fuel (including electric) vehicles. Just like regular MPG shows how far a car will travel on one gallon of gas, MPGe shows how far a vehicle will drive on 33.7kWh of electricity - the energy equivalent of one gallon of gasoline. Combined MPGe is the combined total of 45% city MPGe + 55% highway MPGe.
The Sienna sets itself apart from its competitors by offering standard hybrid power. Front-wheel-drive Siennas deliver an impressive EPA-estimated 36 mpg combined, and those with all-wheel drive aren't far behind at 35 mpg combined. But that stellar fuel economy comes at the cost of performance. The Sienna's four-cylinder hybrid system struggles to get up to highway speed, needing an extra second to reach 60 mph compared to other minivans in the class. Find out what the Sienna is like to live with by reading our long-term road test.
The Honda Odyssey is one of our favorite minivans currently available thanks to its comfortable cabin, handy standard and available features, and surprisingly nimble driving dynamics. The Odyssey should be at the top of your list if you want a non-hybrid minivan, but if you want an electrified people mover, you'll need to look elsewhere as the Honda only offers a conventional V6. The Odyssey also lacks an all-wheel-drive option, so the Pacifica has the advantage if you need all-weather capability. Check out our yearlong road test to get an idea what it's like to live with the Odyssey day to day.
The Kia Carnival is stylish and generously equipped. It's also priced considerably lower than its minivan competitors, including the Pacifica. Some of its high points include its comfortable, well-designed interior and available tech features. Where it falls short, unfortunately, is the driving experience. Its lazy steering feel and subpar handling don't live up to the sporty expectations the van's sleek exterior promises. Like the Odyssey, the Carnival doesn't offer all-wheel drive or a hybrid option. Still, if you need the practicality of a minivan but don't want to spend loaded-minivan money, there's a lot to like about the Carnival.
The Chrysler Pacifica is one of just three models in the brand's small-but-focused lineup. While we don't expect any major changes for this family hauler in 2024, Chrysler has improved the Pacifica over the years to be more with the times. Recent changes to the cabin include the addition of Amazon Fire TV to the rear seat entertainment and dual-phone Bluetooth connectivity.
The Pacifica has a trio of competitors: the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival. While each of the aforementioned models is newer than the aging Chrysler, the Pacifica remains popular because of its ultra-configurable interior. For some shoppers, sacrificing a few luxuries will be worth it for the gains in utility.
Edmunds says
The Pacifica has always been a strong choice in the minivan segment because of its easy-to-configure interior and impressive suite of family-friendly features. It's older than some of its competitors but remains an Edmunds favorite because of how well it nails the practicality game.
