I bought a new Highlander in 2007 from Barry I. It was a good experience so when I wanted to buy a 2013 Highlander, I went back to Barry. Another good experience. Barry, I hope to see you in about 2019 or so.

I involved in a car accident, and needed a new truck to drive to work. However, I didn't have a car to drive to AutoNation Dealer to shop for my car. All I did was just seating at home and call Jesse J. He provided me all truck-information, prices through email. I then negotiated the truck on the phone with him. Finally, I got a my dream Tacoma truck with great price. Jesse is wonderful salesman and I definitely trust him when shopping online. He did what he promised and the truck is so great. My wife and my son love it too. If you are looking for a car, then AutoNation Toyota is the great dealer. Call Jesse to get a great car and price. Thang Le
    • Thank you for telling us about your experience with Jesse. He is such an asset to our team, especially with people in situations similar to yours. I hope your Tacoma is treating you well!

  • Good experience buying new car

I had researched online and used Edmunds to request an online quote from this dealer; therefore I had a good idea before going in about reasonable prices. The salesman showed me two hybrid models, my first choice, but ultimately they would not meet my overall needs. Finally I replaced my 2002 Corolla with--a 2013 Corolla. The salesman was patient throughout, didn't push, and expressed appreciation that I didn't want to "walk the lot". I had come prepared and was willing to use his desktop to review the options. While I was disappointed with the trade-in offer for my good condition 2002 Corolla, overall I felt that I got good value for the overall purchase. The financing portion went OK, though as expected I was offered additional warranties etc. It turns out that paying in full doesn't make the process much shorter than borrowing; at least it wasn't for me that day. I appreciate the experience because I was clear from the start what I wanted, what was and was not important to me, and we all saved time by going directly to the right vehicle for me.
    • Good morning, atxdriver! Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at our dealership. As the General Manager of AutoNation Toyota South Austin, I am so happy to hear that you are happy with your overall purchase. I understand how frustrating it can be to be offered additional warranties, etc during the finance portion of a purchase, and we try to keep that as minimal as possible. If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call or stop on by! We love to see familiar faces. Have a great day! Dennis Annabelli General Manager

My Toyota Highlander buying experience from this dealer was outstanding. Right price, minimum hassle, fast paperwork, excellent delivery, and friendly people. My sales rep, Mr Jim L., handled this transaction perfectly.
  • They've Earned A Long-Term Customer

When I read a lot of raving reviews about Jim L., I wasn't convinced those folks hadn't just fallen for sales tactics, but when I contacted AutoNation Toyota online and Jim was the one who called me, I got to see that Jim really was everything everyone said he was. I'm in the sales industry and told him I wanted a straight-forward deal, which he said is how he does business. I shopped and haggled with with 3 other Toyota dealerships (online/phone) and no one would go as low as Jim's initial offer--he gave me the best price right upfront (I should have believed him when he told me that he had, haha). He also was the only salesperson at any of the dealerships that offered to find the car with the exact features I wanted--he found it elsewhere and got it to their lot. Everyone else just offered me what they already had on their lot, which had additional features I didn't want enough to pay extra for. Jim quoted me a price, including all fees, and that's what it was when I went to sign the papers--there were no surprises with additional fees. And on that note, Nick in financing was awesome, too. He kept the paperwork process from being a snore, set up my financing exactly how I wanted it, and totally hooked me up; I walked out of there 110% happy! I did a ridiculous--and I mean ridiculous--amount of research (it was my first time to lease, plus I'm very detail-oriented), so I feel completely confident that I got a fantastic deal. As long as I'm on Toyotas (which I expect will be for a while), AutoNation and Jim + Nick will be my go-to guys. It's really fantastic to not feel screwed by the car-buying process and to, in fact, have a really smooth and pleasant experience.
    • When writing this review, it didn't ask me all the questions listed at the end of the review. The correct answers are Jim L. responded extremely quickly to all my email inquiries and I did feel that they used my time well--they set me up so that while financing was doing their thing, I was being shown the car and when I came back, I only had to wait a few minutes before wrapping things up and driving outa there.

I've purchased 7 cars in the last 15 years and this was, by far, the most straight forward, honest and easy transaction I've ever had. Jim L. is a fantastic salesman who shoots straight and gets you in and out quick. He got me on a waiting list for a new FR-S, kept in constant contact on when mine should be in and followed up several times after the purchase to make sure all was AOK and to my liking. The whole process, from start to finish, was actually enjoyable. If you're in the market for a new Toyota or Scion in Austin, go here ASAP.
  • Great experience @ AutoNation & with Trey H.

Wow! We had a great experience with the Autonation group and with our sales rep Trey H. Trey provided us with a lot of information via phone before we got to the dealership. When we got there he knew the cars in our budget and had the keys ready to test drive. The sales group was very helpful and gave us several pricing/budget scenarios where we picked the one that suited us the best! The finance and delivery departments were fantastic, providing us with the information we need. I want to send my family here now!
  • Pretends not to know Edmunds Direct

Having previously purchased a vehicle from Champion Toyota in Austin, using internet sales, I was very satisfied. This time, the experience was completely different. I submitted my request through Edmunds Direct, and then received an e-mail from salesman Jesse Jiminez asking me what I was looking for. When I referred him to my Edmunds request, he claimed he never received anything. Then, in response to my question, "Then how did you get my e-mail?!" he says, oh yeah, got that, but no other info (riiiiight). So I proceed to explain in detail what I'm looking for (gave him a specific inventory number and specific options preferred) and his manager sends me a ridicuolus quote on the vehicle with a few hundred bucks off (several thousand above Edmunds TMV). Obviously, this dealership is gaming the Edmunds Direct system and trying to avoid dealing with the website. Not exactly what I would call much integrity with regard to an "internet sales" department.
  • Extremely Bad!!

My husband had bought a 1999 Avalon in 2005. When he bought it we were not told that it had a oil sludge problem. Champion Toyota would not fix it without charging us, even tho there was a class action suit. We did not find out until the time had expired. Now there is a recall on my 2008 Corolla. I called the service department to get it fit and got the run around. I asked to speak to the manager. Keith Hennessy told me I could bring it in or not. He made it very clear he didn't really care, it was my problem. Champion Toyota has the worst service department in Austin. There maybe good rating for the sales department, because they will tell you anything to sell the car. But beware if you need to go to their service department.

After 6 months of researching vehicles we decided to go with Toyota. We purchased a 2010 Venza and a 2012 Camry SE and are loving them both. The Venza is luxurious. Not great on gas but we were downsizing from a mini-van and still needed space so it was a good compromise. The Camry is sporty and fun to drive. The best part was our salesman, Stephen R. He was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure everything we wanted was taken care of. The atmosphere is family friendly and staff are engaing, no pressure tactics. Will definitely be referring friends and family who are in the market for a new car.

Purchased a 2012 Highlander FWD SE V6 from Champion Toyota in September. Worked with Jon P. Easy, straightforward, no BS buying experience. Beat the deal I was offered by a competitor. No pressure to buy an extended warranty - one no thanks was enough. In and out with my car in 90 minutes. Outstanding!
  • 2012 Prius Three

    updated 05/26/2025

Purchased a 2012 Prius Three about two weeks ago and now have 1100 miles on it. The Prius is comfortable and gets 51 mpg. It is a little slow on start but it has adequate power at all speeds. The seats are comfortable and the visability is wide and open. Great car and you will really like it when you get gas. Champion Toyota did a good job and I have now purchased 4 cars form them. Nancy E. did a excellent job helping with the sale and delivery of the Prius.
    • Our #1 goal is for all our customers to feel satisfied when they drive away so we're thrilled you found Nancy so helpful and knowledgeable. If there is anything else we can do for you, please give us a call. Happy driving!

I used the Edmunds dealer contact to get a few quotes on a Sienna and Odyssey. This dealer is closest to me so I stopped by just to get a test drive in and make sure I wasn't wasting my time looking for prices. Jim L. was a refreshing no pressure salesman and respected my wishes to look at the Sienna without making a decision that day. He pulled one around for me, gave me the keys, and left me alone encouraging me to take my time. Fast forward a week and quotes had come in from a few other dealers in the area. Prices were close and AutoNation was including a promo for lifetime oil changes (full synthetic as I had always done my own with Mobil1). Jim sent me one more offer for an additional $500 off which brought the price below Edmunds TMV. Since a couple other dealers insisted on sending me msrp quotes with a promise of not being beat, I told Jim I'd be in to deal next day. From time of Edmunds request to test drive was 1 week. 1 more week to driving out since I like to shop my options and take my time. Straight forward through the paper signing with no surprises or add-ons. Financing 0%/5yr through Toyota was simple and quick (wife and I are both over 800 so I guess it made it easier). Car was nicely displayed inside new car garage for us to check out for final inspection before signing. I would give 4.5 stars since the deal included those stupid options like uber fabric protection or vip sales follow-up but the price was still good and added service (oil, extended toyota care at this dealership, etc) made it well worth it.

Let me tell you...The selling part was great. But the service after the sale stinks. Bought a new 2013 Highlander SE. Drove to Austin to pick it up. Upon reaching Midland, Texas I realized the back up camera did not work. Called AutoNation and they said take it to the Toyota dealership in Midland. Once the vehicle was in the shop in Midland 4 days after the sale and I needed a rental vehicle the salesman Jim L. basically said "deal with it yourself". The service manager Kevin C. at Toyota of Midland did the work that Jim L. should have done and was able to get me a rental vehicle through the warranty.

REVIEWS: I cannot say enough about the amazing service from Laura D. and Autonation Toyota South. After a more than stressful moving experience, I finally made it to Austin minus a vehicle. I had been looking around for a new car for about two weeks and was getting tired of the dealership haggle and hustle. I stopped in at Autonation South, thinking I'd probably end up with a used Toyota, but saw a white Mazda 6 online for sale there too. Upon arriving, Laura promptly greeted me and was happy to answer my questions and take me out on some test drives. There was no pressure ever and she was easy to talk to about my concerns with purchasing a newer used vehicle with slightly higher miles. Ultimately, it was within my range and drove great so I decided to go ahead and speak with finance before someone else scooped up this deal. The process overall was pretty easy, Mike in finance was able to make some deals for extra coverage and 3 years of maintenance, oil changes, extended warranty etc. He also explained everything so it was clear and easy to understand. Fast forward about a week- I ended up having to bring the car back in for a few things, the breaks made this AWFUL sound, and they were happy to put better pads on it (the old ones had glazed or something?). The folks at Autonation bent over backwards to help me out and even lent me a vehicle while mine got fixed. Then- just my luck, not too much later, I go to start my car and nothing! Ugh- very frustrating considering it wasn't even two weeks out of the dealership. Now, something like this, more often than not is not covered- it's a battery, they go sometimes. My blatant dismay and frustration was difficult to contain and I was upset that after the original debacle I was now having issues with this car too. Laura said to bring it in and we will get things figured out. This type of situation is not usually covered, but because it was so soon after purchase, and I had bought extended warranties etc, they were nice enough to replace the battery for me as well. All in all I cannot say enough thanks to Laura D. and the crew at Autonation South, they truly helped me out in ways that go beyond explanation. So grateful for them.. 5 stars isnt' enough! The only thing I'm kind of regretting purchasing was the windshield protectant coverage.. it wasn't that expensive, but made the glass kinda blurry (even with a second application) and there are already 2 small chips in it, which isn't supposed to happen. Once things are more settled I'll file a claim and imagine it won't be an issue, but possibly an 'upgrade' that wasn't really worth it.
    • Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for your recommendation. Laura is just wonderful and I'm thrilled to hear how much she helped you find just what you needed!

Barry I. took the time he needed and delivered what I was looking for in a complete and efficient manner. I was looking for a base model RAV4 at a great price. I wound up buying slightly above what I had budgeted for my bottom line, no haggle price. The reason for paying extra - Barry helped me find the right model with the right features worth the difference. I wound up with the XLE at a great price and a great trade in value for my '06 Tundra.

I recently purchased a 2013 Toyota Highlander and Laura D. was the salesperson. Thanks to Laura, this was probably the best sales experience I have had in buying a new car. Laura was very knowledgeable and explained things to me in a manner that I could easily understand. If she did not know an answer to a question she quickly found the answer and got right back to me. She kept in contact with me throughout the process and if I had questions she made arrangements with the correct person (e.g., finance or service) to answer my questions. She is a very upbeat and positive person which made sales part of the car buying process very pleasant.
