Shady [non-permissible content removed]---Steer Clear!!!
by Ripped_off on 01/19/2018Used dealership seemed nice, but they did a song and dance and added all the extras at the last minute, saying they were refundable (Service Contract, GAP insurance). It's 5 months later---the bank has a copy of the letter that I hand… delivered to their front desk canceling the contract, but they have not refunded the amount. Bait and switch, then hold onto the money, making it almost impossible to get back. Infuriating! Plus, they tried to guilt me into keeping these "extras" that are by law refundable.Beware of buying used cars, even dealer certified

Great Sales experience
by SalwaKozman on 08/06/2017I had been to many dealers searching for a new car, but had no luck until I came here. The sales employee I had, Sam Beshay, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and excellent in making sure that I got the best possible deal for my car. I would… definitely recommend coming here. Thanks for this great review! I am so pleased to hear that you had an excellent experience with Sam. Your compliments will be passed along to him, and I hope that we can take care of you again soon!
Friendly people but beware of "mandatory" option packages.
by jeffyb on 06/06/2017I recently visited Honda of Princeton with the idea of buying a new CRV. The salesperson was friendly & helpful with the test drive, but then quickly informed me that all the Hondas they sell here come with a mandatory $1000 "protection… package" (aka a bunch of dealer add-ons to boost their profit). I started having flashbacks to the early 80's. What?? I confirmed this with the sales manager, who gave me a bunch of BS about how valuable all this stuff is (to HIS profit, not to my purchase, of course). I was so turned off that I went straight to my local Mazda dealer, test drove and purchased a new CX-5. No hard sell, no mandatory add-ons. When I add this recent experience to my poor past experience with this dealer's service dept, I would recommend you seek another Honda dealer, unless you enjoy being "taken for a ride" of a different kind.We appreciate your time in sharing this feedback, but we are disappointed to hear that you felt that the protection package was not helpful. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction, and we aim to make every experience at Honda of Princeton an excellent one. While we wish we could have come to a deal with you, we are glad you found a vehicle to suit your needs. Please give me a call on my personal cell phone (848-448-4726) if there is anything else we can do for you. -Barry Magnus, General Manager
Best Sales Experience Ever!
by SBrinkman on 03/02/2017Julie Davis was my sales person at Honda of Princeton. I had visited 3 other dealerships before I came to Princeton. I have to tell you that the atmosphere was totally different there. It was calm and no one attacked me as I walked through… the door. It was the 28th of February and that means that sales people had to hassle for the end of the month, however it didn't seem chaotic at all in the dealership. The receptionist called Julie to come and take care of me since they do take turns getting customers that walk through the door. Julie was pleasant and well put together. I told her what I wanted and that I had been at 3 other dealerships before coming to them. She took me on a test drive and then we came in to talk price. I came to the dealership that day with a number that I wanted to pay for the car and asked Julie to give me her bottom, out the door number, on the HR-V that I selected. She gave me a number on the car which happened to be really close to the number that I wanted to pay. I asked her to give me a better deal and after speaking to Joe Bruno, the sales manager, she did just that. I got the exact car I wanted for the price I wanted. The transaction was great. Even the finance guy, Chris, was patient with me and my family (who had to verify all my numbers before I signed any papers, thank god for them). The sales staff is a breath of fresh air and I am sending my dad there next month to bring in his CRV for end of lease and buy a new one. Thank you for not being like the [non-permissible content removed] in Phillipsburg!Internet prices are a lie. Big bag of trouble.
by MrMCondition on 09/06/2016So very disappointed in Honda Of Princeton. We're from Virginia, but we found what seemed to be a good deal on an Odyssey here through USAA and TrueCar. Called them and asked for ALL the fees and extras and final price. We were given a good… price, and told what the dealer fees were. Asked several times "And that's it? No extras, right?" Mike said that was it, all inclusive. So we drove up to Princeton from Virginia. We walked in, he gave us the keys and we had a great test drive. When we got back to the dealership it all blew up. When he put together the numbers sheet there was nearly $1000 of extra cost we werent told of. These were extras that we didnt ask for but were told we put that on all the cars. Really? So then they should have been able to disclose that when we asked. Mike kept saying, I apologize, but theres nothing I can do, I guess they figured with the sunk cost of the trip wed just take it. But we got up to walk out. Thats when we got the let me see what I can do. A long while later, he came back willing to knock off one of the extras, but not another, (again, nothing I can do) and then told us that the problem was he had made an offer that his managers wouldnt accept. Must have used the, Im going to get fired for this about a dozen times. Finally threw in a if you sign before 1PM, Ill give you a $200 gift card. Oh and did I mention that they insisted we use their financing, even though we had a pre-approved check from USAA ready to go? We were trying to be flexible, I realize that mistakes happen and thats OK, but at some point THEY made the mistake and its now costing _ME_ money. So when they couldnt get their finance people to agree to beat the USAA loan terms (no one ever can, its really exceptional), they basically just said, "No deal". Four hour drive each way, four hours in the dealership, and nothing. We even offered to go back to the straight price as listed online, rather than the deal we had worked out (gave them a few hundred more). Nope. We walked away with nothing. At least Princeton is a beautiful town and we enjoyed most of our time there. Ive since learned it is not uncommon for this dealership to have prices on the internet that they have no intention of honoring. I would caution anyone who intends to deal with this place to carefully consider. They seem to make a habit of last minute changes and charges. Obviously, being from Virginia means I will never need to deal with them again, so my only recourse for the time and money they wasted is to inform others about our problems and hope to save them from a similar experience.Honda of Princeton - excellent
by sandeepaich on 01/28/2016Worked with Uma Ramamoorthy and Robert Horsey and bought a new Honda Odyssey. Raza Rind helped me with the financing. No pressure sales and got an excellent price. Then worked with Corey Dahl for all accessory installs as well as… service for my other older Honda. Very polite, prompt and competent service. Very impressed. Will definitely be there for all my car needsGreat Service and Positive Experience
by HondaZac on 01/20/2016My old car recently quit on me and I had to find a new car quickly. I had visited a few other dealerships but wasn't as impressed as I was with Honda of Princeton. Uma was my salesperson and she was very enthusiastic, helpful and… knowledgeable. She has a great emphasis on customer service and was a great help in making a decision (Honda Civic). I felt like she really understood what I wanted and really did a great job in making everything come together. Chris helped with finance and also explaining our options for Honda services related to the car's maintenance. I thought that he was very friendly, clear and helpful. Management even came out to make sure that I had a positive experience and that I had touched all of the bases that I needed to. Overall a very positive experience and I would recommend visiting them if you are shopping for a car. It was one of my first experiences buying a car and I really felt taken care of.Doing the right thing
by happyhonda14 on 12/15/2015I recently purchased a 2004 Honda Accord V6, I did the research and saw the price was about average. I asked if I could bring the car to my mechanic to have it checked out. My mechanic found a few wear and tear items, and I major repair… that was needed. Honda or Princeton agreed to fix everything, even though the car was listed as is. They even though in a few hundred off the price of the car. I walked away feeling like I was getting a reliable car that had been fully inspected. Dalton, the used car sales manager was amazing, always smiling and making the buying experience a pleasure. I would definitely recommend them to anyone, its nice to purchase a used car from someone you can trust.Great, laid-back sale
by toyota444 on 08/21/2008updated 12/03/2015I made a reasonable offer for a ne car over the phone, and they accomodated me. Also gave me VERY reasonable price for my trade-in. Wonderful experience, no stress at all, very happy customer.GREAT DEALERSHIP!!
by mispence65 on 09/27/2008updated 12/03/2015I went with my friend today to buy a honda accord 2009, but first did a little research to find a "NO HASSLE" dealership. I'm happy to say, that when we went into this dealership everyone was pleasant, and there were no annoying sales… person attacking us!! They offered us a price below the average selling price here on Edmunds, then we countered and they lowered it even more. ( this could of been because it's so close to the end of the month or because we commented that we researched their dealer ratings first) Anyway, we were very pleased with the price that we end up paying and left with a new car and a promise to write a very favorable review.Let the Games Begin - Go Eleswhere
by kanadakid on 08/12/2009updated 12/03/2015Expect all sorts of sales games sales tactics. You will have to pay full price for your car under the clunker program and wait for Princeton Honda to send you a check if you want to take your new car purchase immediately. This of… course was shared with us only after we agreed on pricing and shared our bank information with the Sales Manager. Oh, by the way................... This was not shared with us through the 2 days of communication we had with the dealer, sales manager. As a matter of fact here is what the sales quoation stated and committed to: " As long as your Dodge Conversion van qualifies for the 'cash for clunkers' program, you simply subtract the cash value that the gov't allows for your vehicle from the total price of the sale." They of course did not stand behind what they put to writing. There was one other option offered under the clunker program at Princeton. Pay for the car minus the rebate, we will hold it until the Government send us the money. There are no other dealers I spoke with who are handling the Clunkers program the way Princeton is handling this. We wond up buying our car at a different dealer in Pennsylvania. They were straight up, we saved about 500 vs the Princeton offer, drove the car home that night and got the 4500 for our clunker. I hope this saves someone else the frustration of going though the slick "old school" sales games played on this car lot.2011 Odyssey Touring Smokey Topaz
by london67 on 05/29/2011updated 12/03/2015By far, the best and smoothest new vehicle purchase have I ever experienced, stress-free. Prior to driving 50+miles to the dealer, I requested an internet quote, which was a little higher than my local dealership. Honda of Princeton… willingly matched the competitors price, via our telephone conservation. In addition, they matched the competitors value for my trade after a very brief negotiation. I paid about $500, before my trade, over Edmunds TMV. Kudos to the Honda of Princeton team - Tom T., Bob K., and Evan P.Great Experience
by london67 on 06/13/2011updated 12/03/2015This was by far, the best new vehicle purchase experience I've ever had. The whole process was stress free and professional, with very little haggling. We actually purchased two vehicles, at two different dealership within 24hrs. The second… dealership did not meet the bar set by Honda of Princeton. We kept comparing the other dealership to this one, and kept commenting on how much better our experience was at Honda of Princeton. We would definitely recommend this dealership.Best Dealership
by Terry1961 on 06/06/2013updated 12/03/2015I have bought 2 new cars from this dealership and 1 used one for my son. Each time the experience was the best, hassle free, no gimmicks sale. All of the employees make you feel at home and are very friendly and not fake about anything just… to make a sale. Everyone wants you to be happy with your purchase. They don't want to sell you anything you don't want which is a stress free sale and everyone walks away happy! I would never go anywhere else for my next Honda! They tried to rip me off
by dsalis on 10/13/2013updated 12/03/2015Got a call from Mike saying they were selling Odyssey 2014 at invoice or below. Explained I had a 2011 lease with 6 months remaining but with 8,000 miles in my favor so I wanted to take share that equity with them and to be applied as a… down-payment and they agreed. So Saturday morning went there, met with Matt who reviewed my current lease and validated that the payoff was $ 24,000. Similar certified used vehicles were advertised above $ 29,000. However, the sales man told me that he had good news: they were going to let me get out of my 2011 lease by charging me only $ 500. So basically they were going to pay Honda Financial Services $ 24,000 for the vehicle, collect $ 500 from me and made a profit selling it at about $ 28,500 ($ 29,000 revenue after maybe $ 24,500 cost for buying it from HFS plus car wash and certification). So he was taking my equity and presenting the deal as making me a favor. When I mentioned that he was wrong and that with my previous lease another dealer accepted to share the equity, Joe, the Sales Manager said that it was illegal to sell a car owned by someone else, something that really pissed me off as he was treating me as a delinquent or as a retarded (or both). When I explained to him that what he said was BS as the car was purchased from HFS before selling it, he said OK, but if we do this for you (give you the equity you have on your current lease) would you be willing to pay MSRP?. The only reason I went that day to the dealership was because I received the call from them saying they were selling the car below invoice. This experience was very unprofessional.Easy if educated
by Laura67uga on 03/22/2014updated 12/03/2015I went in with a TRUECAR value for the vehicle I wanted asked them to match that price and they did and worked with me on a few extras. They earned my business! They offered oil changes for the life of the car I purchased and were very… nice. I got my vehicle below invoice, they charge a low document fee and were very accommodating. It really was a win win because i did my homework. I don't expect a dealer to give me their best price without a little work on my part, you have to know the bottom line.I'll never go back there
by sirtuba on 10/22/2014updated 12/03/2015My husband and I have both purchased and leased a car from Honda of Princeton. Our experiences purchasing our Odyssey and leasing our Civic were excellent, and thought we would never buy a car anywhere else.....until last year. We went… back to discuss an offer on our Odyssey we received in the mail only to find it was not at all what they said or discussed on the phone. We left the dealership very dissatisfied, and no one ever called to follow up. We continued to receive the letters on that offer for the next year. So I called and spoke to Kerri Villani who was at first very apologetic, and was going to get back to me. Of course she never did. Now the lease on my husband's car is almost up and we get another call and e-mail from her. At this point it is laughable to think we will do business with them again, but I would have expected some kind of sincere apology, which did not happen. She made excuses and she suggested that she take us off her list. Their website states customer service is their promise and their passion - not in our experience! Whatever new management has taken over, I am sad to see a dealership I had respect for doing business this way.best honda dealership in NJ
by hottamale1807 on 11/11/2014updated 12/03/2015recieved special price promise which was way lower than everyone else, took it into Honda of Princeton and made the deal, it was a very simple and pleasant buying experience I would recommend them to family friends and co workers !!!EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE
by tij1 on 01/23/2015updated 12/03/2015I visited Honda of Princeton in December 2014. They tried their best to give me a lease on a CRV but due to time constraints i was unable to close on the car. But the amazing part happened after that. In my life i have not come across a… sales person who was so diligent, not aggressive, as one would expect from a car dealer, and yet extremely professional and thorough. It is due to their sales person Derek Mullins whose constant follow made me come back with Princeton Honda to close a deal on a CRV today. Every bit of his interaction until the time he handed the vehicle to me was exceptional. You can always get the deal you want by shopping aggressively but not many can precisely understand your needs, overcome your objections, and give a customer-centric experience as Honda of Princeton. Thanks Derek.Uma Rocks!
by vinayshankam on 08/04/2015updated 12/03/2015Uma Desai is the best sales person I have worked with. She is open, honest & direct. Very impressed with her no nonsense/hassle free style. Would love to do business with her again. Great Job Uma
Got an online quote from this dealership. Went to look at vehicle hours later and they didn’t have the vehicle I was given quote for. Sat there for a half hour while they tried to find a phantom vehicle. Even gave them stock number. Snooty receptionist made me wait till she got done her personal phone call, then gave me attitude cause she didn’t know the staff members name I gave. Beware......too good to be true probably is!
