Something is rotten in the State of Illinois, and that's Ed Napleton Acura!
by MJ on 06/19/2024This dealership is filled with questionable practices, that the FTC already fined them before for. Looks like it was not enough! Their online prices are not real! They refuse to give you a total price of the vehicle, unless you come in… person and sit down with their manager. You offer to go to the bank and ask for an exact loan, so you can bring the money with you, they keep insisting that only when you sit down with the manager will you know the final price? If you schedule a test drive, don't keep your hopes up, because they don't hold the vehicles for anyone, even if you offer to put a deposit on it beforehand. If you do manage to see the vehicle, and want to purchase it, then you discover that they have added non removable fees, and there is no negotiation on the price. If you look them up, they were even fined by the FTC adding junk fees, and I guess the fines were not enough, because they are back at it again. Save your time, money and your mental health! Go someplace else, and when you do, look up the dealership review on BBB, there you will find the accurate rating for any dealership. Imagine my shock when I found that these guys were at 1.8 I think, which I still think is too high, since 0 would be too high as well.Bait and switch
by Mark B on 06/03/2020I recently visited Mapleton Acura of Elmhurst to purchase a. used Mazda CX-9. I travelled for 1hour from Indiana. My salesman was Wilson who was not very knowledgeable about the car. I currently own a Mazda so this really didn't bother me… much. The problem came when we got down to the cost of the car. The car was listed online at $24,500. When he showed me the final numbers there was a $4,000 UDI illegally added to the cost. For those of us not experts in the field this is a Used Car DealerInspextion fee. This is a non negotiable fee apparently added by unscrupulous dealers.Iwould expect Thurs For a back street car salesman. Shame on you Mapleton bait and switch at its finest2020 Rex

Bait and switch
by sajanjeena on 03/07/2019I contacted Ed Napleton Acura, Elmhurst, IL about a 2016 Acura RDX tech pkg CPO 28000 miles for $25825.00 listed on Edmunds. I texted Areli the screenshot from Edmunds and all details on the suv. She confirmed it is availble. So my wife and… I went to dealership on March 5th. Before leaving home, I called and confirmed with Subin that the car is available. When we arrived, the salesman, Landon showed us a base model asking same price. When we asked about the tech pkg car we saw listed on Edmunds, he searched and said it is not there. He then brought a car with lower miles but much higher price. When we asked about the car we saw at Edmunds, he brought the sales manager. The manager told us that another person with my same first and last name came earlier that day and bought that car. We were stunned to hear how can an Acura dealership tells a customer such a thing. There was no apology from the manager. We decided it is not worth our time and left the dealership. We simply waisted 2 hours of our evening. I will not go to this dealership again and will not recommend them to anyoneHi, we regret to hear that you are displeased with your recent experience with us. Sold my car to someone else when I had a deposit down!!!
by Jessiyoung3 on 07/26/2017I am not one to usually leave bad reviews but I don't want what just happened to me to happened to anyone else so in light of that, here it goes: I met with Kristen Montijo yesterday to look at a used Toyota Rav4. Kristen was great and… very friendly and I enjoyed working with her very much. We took the car for a test drive and then sat down to talk about numbers. I wasn't quite ready to go home with the car that night, so I asked Kristen if there was anything we could do to put a "hold" on the car for 24 hours. She ensured me that this was something they could do and that they do all the time. Kristen told me that if I put a $500 deposit down, it would prevent the car from being sold to anyone over the next 24 hours. I paid the $500 and we negotiated the price of the vehicle. We agreed that I would return the next day to either purchase or pass on the car. I had 1 other vehicle at a different dealership I was going to check out and then I would make the decision. So I go home, very excited about the possibility of getting this new car, feeling good knowing that it wouldn't be sold out from under me in the next 24 hours. I had just had an apartment sold out from under me the day prior (which I told Kristen) so knowing the deposit would prevent that from happening again gave me much peace of mind. Our appointment with Kristen was on July 25, 2017 at 7:15pm. On July 26, 2017 at 2:33pm I received a text from Kristen stating "Hey there... sorry to report but earlier this morning someone came in with a better offer on the RAV4 an my manager took the deal. So sorry. I'm not at work at the moment I can have someone refund your deposit." ........... To say I am furious is an understatement. I called the dealership immediately where I spoke with GM Benjamin Jacobs. I told Ben what happened and he told me that the deposit only secures the price for 24 hours it does not prevent the car from being sold. This was the exact opposite of what Kristen assured me on multiple occasions. The whole point of me putting a deposit down was to ensure the car wouldn't be sold the next day. While I do not believe it was Kristen's intention to lie to me, she did regardless. Multiple times. Ben then tried to make good by offering to sell me other cars that were also not in my price range nor were they the car I wanted and had put a deposit down on. I then called Kristen to get her side of the story and while she was very apologetic, did little to help me understand how this possibly could have happened. She stated that she received a text from her manager that morning asking her where the keys were for the Toyota Rav4 (the car I was going to buy) were. At this point, Kristen should have either 1 - told the manager it was on hold for her client (me) or 2 - called me immediately to let me know what was going on. I was so excited to get this car, we had a contract drawn up, I had a deposit down, everything was going very smoothly and yet here I am, writing a scathing review because I was lied to. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. As someone who doesn't a big budget to spend on a car, I was so excited to finally find a car that met my criteria and that I could afford. I feel completely taken advantage and am very upset. We will be seeking legal action.Jessi, I'm terribly sorry that you feel this way about your experience. Inaccurate sales information

For the listed price, this dealership said it is for pre-certification and the certified one is going to cost $3K to $4K more. The same car is advertised at several places sometimes as… certified and some times without certified. Also, the pre-inspection checklist that was provided ignores any mention of scratches or dents. I have no trust with this Acura dealership in the heart of Elmurst, IL and would rather go to other Acura dealerships.I am very sorry for the confusion in the status of the vehicle. We can always have a vehicle touched up if any minor cosmetic damage makes it past our inspection. It's just a game, nothing more than that
by snelluri on 06/05/2016I got a price promise quotes from edmunds.com from this dealer for a lease. The lease number provided in the certificate and the number provided at the dealer are completely different. Infact it is 35% more than what was given in the… Certificate. When i questioned the same, it started with a blame game that edmunds.com messed it up. I called edmunds.com and they say it is not a mistake on their side. So something was screwed up at the dealer. I almost wasted close one day of my time and when i said that the internet representative at the dealer reverse questioned me how come you can waste one day when you are 20 minutes away from us. The point she didn't understand is, how much time did i spend at the dealer and how much time was the commute. She doesn't even care from where i came from on that day. I hope some respect should be given when the customer say that before saying you are 20 mins away. I strongly recommend avoid this dealer.I would like to sincerely apologize for your inconvenience. The specific vehicle you inquired on was a retired service loaner but Edmunds.com placed it in new car inventory which caused the lease payments to be miscalculated. We have since taken steps to ensure this will not happen again to any further valued customers. by Disneyvince11 on 05/18/2016Buying a car shouldn't be a hard, painstaking process. Once you find that car you love the dealer should do whatever they can to get you into that car. At Napleton Acura they did and we couldn't be happier for the way we were treated and… left not as customers, but as if we knew them for years. The salesperson; TJ, the GM; Andrew, the finance guy; who I forgot his name, but he wasn't trying to force add ons. He wanted to give us all the options and said this is your choice I'm just here to help, and the Tech guru; Mike, all went above and beyond for us. We left there beyond happy with the car and even 3 days later are still getting asked if we are happy with the car and if there is anything they can do to let them know. Everyone was professional and helpful and I wouldn't go anywhere to look for a new car. We went to a few Acura dealers, but this was by far the best experience I had not only with Acrua, but any dealer for any car. by italiandiva on 12/30/2015I walked into Ed Napelton knowing exactly what I wanted. A 2016 Acura MDX black on black loaded. They did not have it on their lot. Tim McLean was our salesman. My boyfriend and I immediately liked him. He wasn't pushy like most salesmen… are. He had values and we could tell he cared for his clients. He found my car and drove it back himself and took wonderful care of it. I walked in on a Thursday and needed the car by Saturday so I could go back to work on Monday. He didn't fail us. My car was ready for pickup by Saturday at 10:30. I will most certainly recommend Tim to my family and friends who want to purchase a new Acura.Buying a vehicle can be stressful sometimes, I am so glad to hear Tim and the Napleton Autogroup were able to provide not just the vehicle you wanted, but the experience you deserve. A lot of unnecessary aggravation
by 2016_MDX_buyer on 12/21/2015updated 12/28/2015Bought a 2016 MDX a couple of weeks ago. Price of MDX was agreed upon via email. However, sales put $1,595 for 'protection package' and said it was already installed and cannot be removed. When I decided not to buy the vehicle, they brought… down the price of the 'protection package'. Once we agreed on the price, I bought the vehicle (paid cash) but had to go back the next day to take the delivery (as I didn't have anyone to drive home my own vehicle). This is when the aggravation/drama goes full throttle. Sales associate (Maz) tells me 2 of the required components of 'Protection Package' were not installed and absolves himself from further conversation by referring me to sales manager - Andrew Tomlinson, who was flat out rude and unwilling to do anything about it (charging for 'protection package' and not including it in its entirety amounts to cheating).His attitude was totally different (much callous) today since I had already bought and paid for the vehicle the previous day and insisted that I should drive home the veg=hicle as-is. After a few minutes of back-and-forth and heartburn, Andrew only softened his stand when I told I will take the matter to the general manager. After having to wait for additional 2 hours, he finally had the service dept put the missing components. Insult to injury was then the fact that Dan Mullcahy backed out of his commitment to give a free remote start.I apologize for your experience at my Acura dealership. We do have vehicles in stock that we added accessories to keep your vehicle protected and help maintain the value of the vehicle at a very discounted price, HOWEVER, those accessories are never mandatory to purchase. Worst Car Dealership Experience Ever, period!
by jodyshak on 12/19/2015updated 12/28/2015I had one of the worst experience at this Dealership Today. This was completely Bait and Switch operation at this dealership. Truly opposite of what they claim. They made an appointment for me to see a used car, and when I got there… (driving 50 miles) they told me that the car (they acknowledge last night being available) was suddenly sold late last night, but they have other cars available for them to test drive and see. This is Very Sleazy operation. I would not recommend anyone going there, All the 5 star reviews are probably bought. My experience not only left me not trusting any other dealership but left me in doubt about humanity. I just walked out of the place, and the sales man Dan Mulcahy's co-worker name Dennis try to run after me followed me to the car trying to convince me to look at other cars. No Way I was going back in there. I would also give them negative stars, if I could.I apologize for your experience and I am confident we DO NOT use those type of tactics.
