I hope AutoNation rebuillds Champion lousy salesman's tactics
by SameOldGame on 11/21/2014So I bought a Matrix, financed, was told by salesman if I had any reason I didn't like the car I could return it within 3 days of purchase. So I drove it to San Antonio the next day (Friday) and really didn't like the ride on the highway… and felt very uncomfortable in the car because of it's size, road noise, handling. I returned to Champion the next day (Saturday), found my salesman, said I wanted to return the car. It had roughly 190 miles on it. He said "We don't take cars back..." I was completely blown away. I told him "You said I have three days from purchase to change my mind, now you are telling me that's not true??!!" He said "I told you that was used cars only, and I sell used and new cars, so you misunderstood me." This conversation was dead in the water, and I was duped. I had to trade in my other car, trade in the brand new Matrix, which the salesman said had "already been titled" which on a Saturday I had a hard time believing could have happened already, and took a 6000.00 dollar loss on the Matrix, and bought another Toyota just to get out of this lousy car. What a serious lback-up on a promise that man made to me. I won't forget it, and tell anyone looking to buy from Champion not to bother buying from this dealership. You will not be dealt with honestly. So I lost a lot of money and I would have to think just so this salesman could make his commission. Really lousy sales tactics. And I had bought there before, had a great experience just a year before. I should have looked for my first salesman, he was honest! And not a b.s. expert. Sorry Autonation, I have since then talked to the General Manager, but I wasn't convinced that the advertised "If you aren't satisfied with your car bring it back within 3 days" that recently was advertised (2014) on this dealerships website which he explained is accurate, and that AutoNation took over/ bought Champion just a year ago (and my experience was in 2009 so...go figure, right?) that he would do whatever it takes to earn my business back. Ok, I have an idea, how about the new car I want on your lot minus the 6000.00 I lost on the last deal?? Now you might earn my business back, and I doubt that this would ever happen. Just because someone gives you an earnest answer by phone doesn't mean much if it isn't lived up to in person. just saying. I hope this salesman really doesn't work there anymore, but I would just have to go in person and see because if he was that sly then I am sure he could keep his job making sales for this dealership. Hope I am wrong, but hard to forgive a 6000.00 dollar rip-off. Also wanted to mention it took almost 8 hours for my first car deal to get finished. 8 hours!!!!! I would rate half a star but it wouldn't let me...Exceptionally great. Highly recommended
by ndb1 on 11/13/2014AutoNation is the place to go if you are seeking for a new or used Toyota. The sales personnel are very courteous and knowlegeable. They are also sincere in their dealings with you; no hidden details. They also provide you the chance to… negotiate with them and when you are still not sure about the deal, you may choose to back out without being coerced. I like this aspect about them because it gave me the liberty to decide for myself. I met their Salesperson Rafael Martinez. This guy is just great. He is one of the very reasons why I finally bought the vehicle. I wish Toyota will employ more guys like that.Great Service
by sylvia26 on 10/29/2014I had a wonderful experience having my oil changed at AutoNation Toyota Scion South Austin. Art G. got me in and out in no time! Keep up the good work!Austin TOYOTA AUTONATION IS THE BEST
by alexoz6 on 10/21/2014Sales Rep : MARK COLLINS... good ol' boy for Jersey that is willing to do anything it takes to get a customer into the car of their dreams! And I mean that in the most non pesky salesperson kind of way. Mark was willing to do all… negotiations by phone (call/text) once we came in an test drove the new 2015 Highlander. We knew we wanted an XLE in a particular color, but it was slim pickings since we are still in Fall of 2014. Long story short, once we negotiated a price and a vehicle was located to be delivered, Mark Collins was nothing short of courteous, kind, fun to chat with, willing to tug on his bosses coat tails, and ended up sealing a deal with us and the Highlander we wanted. We couldn't be happier. The vehicle is amazing and very luxurious compared to high dollar, similar type vehicles like lexus, bmw, etc. All bells and whistles are there even though you may not even want them. Mark was very knowledgeable when it came to certain features and functions offered, and if he didn't know something, he'd call back within 10 min to give you the answer. This has been the 3rd new vehicle we have purchased since 2009, and the other two dealerships we were at were pretty much your typical down your throat and [non-permissible content removed] pushy sales people, but here at Autonation Toyota, we felt no pressure and even got to test drive on our own as long as we wanted too. Mark Collins, as i'm sure the rest of his team is as well, are grade a, down to earth people that are simply there to make your new car buying experience a pleasurable one. In financing, we worked with Korey D. who was also a great, kind heart, down to earth gentlemen that didn't mind our 6 month old at the signing table making noise, fussing, and even spitting up on the table a little bit! hahaha... but, seriously, smooth process, no bs, and worked with us and our target monthly goal payment as best he could. Thank you autonation sales and management for the amazing 2015 Highlander XLE...we love it and plan to run it til the wheels fall off.Awesome
by xtinabandy on 10/15/2014Long Tran was my salesman and he really helped make my car buying experience a great one, I was not thrilled when I first started looking for a new car since I just wasn't ready for the payment, but Mr. Tran was attentive and really… listened to what I was looking for. I bought a 2012 Toyota Camry and am very happy.Great experience
by bostonall on 10/16/2014I got exactly what I needed and paid for nothing more. I was dealt with fairly and openly, and was fortunate to get my first choice of car. The salesperson with whom I worked, Aaron G., fought on my behalf to be sure I could stay within my… budget.Best Car-Buying Experience Ever
by cnichols1 on 09/26/2014Sales Consultant Laura D. made it all happen seamlessly because she knows her stuff. Got the right price, the right color, the right financing, the right trade-in value, and the right warranty.Just Leased 2 Camry SE sport 14.5
by rlp3 on 09/26/2014If you live in the Austin area and you're thinking about buying a Toyota and you're not sure which Toyota dealership to use - don't think twice- let AutoNation Toyota Scion South Austin, especially Laura D., my Sales Consultant, take care… of you! While you may not think which salesperson or dealership you choose matters, let me tell you, it definitely does. Laura, her manager, Darren M., and Katie E., my Customer Financial Services Manager, know every aspect of this business and how to make every customer feel special! I just leased 2 Camry 14.5, the SE sport model; one for me and one for my daughter. Every detail is taken care for you; they pamper both you and your car. They even have a specialist to show you all the features of your new car; thanks Stephen. This time around was the easiest, most enjoyable experience I ever had (no pressure at all) since I started purchasing or leasing a car (10 cars ago). As long as I live in Austin, Laura D. (and AutoNation) will always be my go to person for all my new car needs. Robin PTwo New Toyota's in the Family
by roost3 on 09/13/2014Our daughter bought a new 2014 Corolla from AutoNation Toyota and was very pleased with the experience from start to finish. After driving many cars we settled on a new Toyota Avalon. We bought from AutoNation Toyota as well and were also… very pleased with our experience. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the process was transparent throughout. We are happy you found us so helpful! It is our goal to provide a positive customer experience, and we're glad to hear that your visit was an overall pleasant one.
Smooth Buying Experience
by MsMollie on 09/05/2014I was fortunate (blessed) enough to have just recently purchased a new Toyota. I initiated contact with Toyota through an online contact form, and within the hour I had a response from an actual salesperson. I responded back with what I… was looking for, and the salesperson responded with pricing for three options. In addition, because I indicated that preferred to be contacted via email, the salesperson respected that, and did not bug me with repeated phone calls. Actually, he sent me an email entitled, "OK, let's do this your way", and that's how the buying process began. He was able to keep up with me via email/text, and it just so happened that he was off on the day that I could actually do a site visit. This factor did not hinder the process at all. Without skipping a beat, my original contact named an alternate salesperson, and the buying process continued. The alternate salesperson was able to continue the "flow", and the buying process was completed. Because I had done my research beforehand, I know that I ended up with a pretty fair price for the new vehicle and my trade-in. At the end of the day, I feel really good about my purchase and my experience with Autonation Toyota. A shout out to Teddy L. and Roger S. for making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.Toyota Camry Purchase
by RBBB2 on 09/03/2014We went to AutoNation South Austin to look for a new Camry. Barry I. showed us many autos. We told Barry that we wanted a specific Camry. He looked for the car we wanted and came back with a good offer. We were delighted and accepted the… offer. Barry listens to his customer and delivers. It was a good buying experience at AutoNation.Good People, Good Work At, a Fair Price
by JeffVillarreal on 08/11/2014I am blessed to have worked with Kimberly D. at AutoNation South in the service department. Their mechanics helped to find out what was needed to get my car on the road. Kimberly helped me to separate the needs from the wants. Then, we… worked together to get the lowest price possible. She was patient and kind during the process, which made it easier to bear. I am grateful for AutoNation and Kimberly for helping to get me back on the road with a vehicle I can trust. I think that she can help you too. Sincerely, Jeff VillarrealAs Easy As it Gets!
by KimLalande on 08/08/2014Long story short...I had been looking at a Tundra for 7 years.finally got the chance to consider a new one and Jesse Jimenez at Auto Nation Toyota made it happen. No long drawn out haggling or back and forth. I knew what I wanted, his… dealership had it and the deal was made. Both sides of the deal came away successful. Jesse had the harder job as I had to take some time to get my financials in order, but he stayed true to his word worked within his means to get my truck for me. I'd recommend Jesse anyway if you are in the market for a Toyota.Five stars for new car salesman..
by avaloneowner on 08/10/2014This was our third Toyota dealership having visited two others in the north part of Austin earlier in the week. Obviously there were reasons why we could not consummate the deal. When we arrived at AutoNation Toyota South Austin we started… looking at the cars and almost immediately Mr. Ray B. showed up and pointed us to the models we were interested in. He immediately offered a test drive of two models. We took advantage of his offer, liked the cars and asked for quotations. That also came very quickly, with a smile. We took the proposal home and next day we called Mr. Ray about our decision to purchase one of those model. Mr. Ray had a day off yet he came back to help us with paperwork and pricing of our trade-in. All that was done without any difficulties. The selected car was taken to the shop for sale check up. All went well. We could have paid for a car in full but Toyota was offering 0% financing so we took advantage of that. We were really satisfied with everything which went in the show room and Ray's office. Preparation of financing / sales documents also went easily until the Finance Manager pulled information of extended warranty, a $2,499 charge starting after the basic warranty is up in three years. We refused this offer but Finance Manager did not want to take our "no thanks' for answer and tried it three more times with the same no, thank-you from us. He was so annoying that we almost walk away from the deal. We did not take this ridiculous policy, closed the deal yet Finance Manager was visibly unhappy with us not taking his offer. As we were leaving he did not even say thank you, good bye and showed us where our car was to be picked up. Fortunately, we will likely will not need any future financing from Toyota. So bottom line, Thank you Mr. Ray B., you were very helpful and thanks to you Toyota sold another car.. :) We liked the dealership but be aware of the Financing Department...AutoNation Toyota South Austin is the gold standard!
by shibaguymike on 08/05/2014I got the run-around with some other dealers in the area before going here. My sales rep has been great about everything since our first conversations several months ago. The customer service and fair prices will make me a long-term… customer. I have already been talking with my friends, family and colleagues about the pleasant experience I had. If you're looking to buy a new or used Toyota, I wouldn't bother going anywhere else. AutoNation Toyota South Austin is the gold standard!Fantastic Experience!
by Mander1851 on 07/11/2014LOVE my band new Toyota Camry SE!!! It is a beautiful, sporty car and drives like a dream! My experience with my salesman, Jim L., and with Katie in the Finance Department was second-to-none! Both were so very kind and easy to work with,… willing to answer any questions I had, and never high pressure in any way. I HIGHLY recommend - absolutely a very pleasant and enjoyable experience!Thank you for your wonderful review! I'm so glad to hear that my staff treated you so well--just as I would expect ;) Thank you for your recommendation and happy driving!
Excellent Service from Jesse J.!!!
by jrawl004 on 07/01/2014We do not regret the 1 hour drive to this location to make my Highlander purchase. Jesse J. is a EXCELLENT Sales Manager. He is very knowledgable and makes excellent recommendations based on your individual needs. We never felt pushed to… make the purchase. Jesse also made us feel at home during our wait to finalize financing options especially with our child. Jesse provided a thorough overview of the vehicle to make sure we were comfortable with all the technology and other features before leaving the dealership. Based on other dealerships, this transaction was by far the best. The outlook of a dealership is very dependent on the Sale associates and managers involved. Several at other dealerships caused me to become very displeased during my search for a new vehicle but Jesse quickly erased those feelings. Thanks for everything Jesse!!!!!Thank you for your review! Jesse really is the best and I am so glad you had the chance to see why :) I hope you are loving your Highlander! Thanks again. Dennis Annabelli General Manager
Excellent Customer Service from Mr. Nassir Ahmed
by camry14 on 09/23/2010I bought a 2011 Camry LE from Champion Toyota. Mr. Nassir Ahmed was my sales person. He guided me through the whole buying process so smoothly. I even got the car for an hour to drive around and feel before closing the deal. Did not have a… single hassle on the price. paid $20.2K for the Camry. Very happy with the treatment that I got from both Finance and the sales. Went to San Marcos Toyota and really bad customer service. They even did not return my call on the new Camry that I wanted to buy. Strongly recommend this dealership.Talk to Jim Lee!
by moriahc on 09/03/2010I did all my research online, requested dealer quotes via edmunds and only dealt with those dealerships that responded. Though the Honda dealers in town were quick to jump on email, the only Toyota dealer to respond was Champion. After… test driving a CR-V and Rav4, I decided to go with the Rav4 - the flat fold seats and acceleration (even though both were 4cyl engines) won me over. Jim answered all of my questions via email and I was able to walk in and buy the car I wanted in just a few hours (that is how long it normally takes) at the price I wanted (about 100$ above market value was my limit). Jim was human in his emails (most others I received were cut & paste form letters) and actually has a sense of humor - a big deal to me when having to decline 10 phone calls a day from the other dealers (First Texas Honda will hound you to your grave!) Outside of the Finance guy trying to get the upsell (extended warranty, other stuff), I felt totally unpressured throughout the process (just turn it all down, you can get it later). Thanks Jim, for making this large purchase easy and affordable!Pleasant Car Buying Adventure
by longhornfan49 on 08/13/2010I'm the type of person who researches for weeks before narrowing my search to one or two items. In the case of my new vehicle, I'd narrowed it down to a Toyota RAV4 and a Nissan Murano. So, my next action was to test-drive both. Once I'd… test driven both vehicles, I knew, hands down that I wanted the RAV4. It was sportier, handled better around curves and in tight radius turns, got better gas mileage and had probably the best A/C of any car in this class that I'd ever driven. My next step in the adventure was to visit dealerships. The relationship between a car salesman and a buyer has to have an element of trust as the basis. After visiting two other Toyota Dealerships, I visited Champion Toyota. My salesman was Scott Foss and he could not have made my dealership decision easier unless his was the only Toyota Dealership in the state of Texas. He took the parameters of what I wanted, brought up every vehicle that matched my wants in a tri-state area, gave me the details, pointed out the vehicle that most closely matched my specifications, described some of the other options available on the different models, but let me make my own decision without a hard-sell. Once I'd decided on the one I wanted, Scott bent over backwards to get me the best deal (which beat both of the other two Toyota dealerships I'd visited) and I now drive a very pretty white RAV4. Everything about this dealership was professional personified, from the sales staff to the financing group. I would not hesitate to recommend this dealership and this salesman to my closest friend or family.Negative Stars
by unhappyintx on 08/10/2010f I could give negative stars I would. This is the WORST car buying experience I have ever had in my life. I have bought several cars from places all around Texas and have never ever had problems like I have experienced here. To start… off the salesman had $$ in his eyes from the moment we met. I understand he is a salesman and most salesman like to pull a fast one on you so I let it go but made it clear that no one would be taking me for anything. So I found a car I liked for a pretty good deal. I have always bought used vehicles because I've found that it is a much better deal. That being said I've never "felt" like I drove home a used car. I've always felt that I drove home new cars because it is new to me and the dealers make it look and feel like a new car...that being said Champion did none of the sort. First they tried to give me 18.9% interest!!!! I quickly turned that down and he said it was the best he could get me with my credit...to which I quickly responded that I know perfectly well that my credit is good and told him I would find another deal somewhere else...before I could get out the door he stopped me and said he would see what he could do...he came back with 10% to which I replied was still waaay too much and began to leave again. I was promptly stopped and was asked if he could give it one more shot...after literally 4 hours of all of these shenanigans he finally came back with an ok interest rate (after 4 hours of wasted time) Then they only offered me $4000 for my trade in that I quoted on KBB to be worth $5700 in "good" condition and they said basically that I was incompetent and did not do the search right. I let it go because I really liked the car and it would be hard to find another that had all the features for that price... Then I proceeded to the finance dept. which was slow as sin where I waited for another 4 hours in their overcrowded waiting room and finally got called in to sign... During the process with the salesman I found a large gash in the front bumper and told him that it was a breaking deal and I did not want a car that was wrecked. He assured me that they would fix it to look like new and also fix a scratch that was on the side. During the finance meeting the finance guy wrote in the contract that they owed me a car with the bumper fixed....so I took it in later that week and came back to pick it up only to find that they had done nothing but paint around the gash! I asked the salesman about this and he said there was nothing they could do short of using superglue to glue it together!!! What the hell kind of body shop uses superglue to paste together a car? All this aside I told him that they owed me a fixed bumper. I asked to speak to the manager and he told me the same thing...I asked him what my options were and he said "Well, we can glue it together, but it will break apart again as soon as you bump into something...or you can get a new bumper...that'll be about $600 to $700" I was taken back by their blunt responses that basically the "We owe" paperwork meant nothing in my contract. I still have 20 days to do something about this as on this paperwork it says it is only valid for 30 days and I plan on perusing this vigorously but I don't plan on them doing anything about it with their past responses. I would definitely not recommend this place if it was the last dealership in Texas...go somewhere else and get the service car-buyers deserve. On another note - after I signed the paperwork and got into my "new" car it was dirtier than the car I traded in! They didn't even bother to clean it out! Stains on the carpets and dust and dirt everywhere...even what looked like mud on the leather seats in the back. All this my salesman assured me would be taken care of....never again. Don't waste your time, patience or money going here
