AutoNation Toyota South Austin
Dealership Sales Review
So I bought a Matrix, financed, was told by salesman if I had any reason I didn't like the car I could return it within 3 days of purchase. So I drove it to San Antonio the next day (Friday) and really didn't like the ride on the highway and felt very uncomfortable in the car because of it's size, road noise, handling. I returned to Champion the next day (Saturday), found my salesman, said I wanted to return the car. It had roughly 190 miles on it. He said "We don't take cars back..." I was completely blown away. I told him "You said I have three days from purchase to change my mind, now you are telling me that's not true??!!" He said "I told you that was used cars only, and I sell used and new cars, so you misunderstood me." This conversation was dead in the water, and I was duped. I had to trade in my other car, trade in the brand new Matrix, which the salesman said had "already been titled" which on a Saturday I had a hard time believing could have happened already, and took a 6000.00 dollar loss on the Matrix, and bought another Toyota just to get out of this lousy car. What a serious lback-up on a promise that man made to me. I won't forget it, and tell anyone looking to buy from Champion not to bother buying from this dealership. You will not be dealt with honestly. So I lost a lot of money and I would have to think just so this salesman could make his commission. Really lousy sales tactics. And I had bought there before, had a great experience just a year before. I should have looked for my first salesman, he was honest! And not a b.s. expert. Sorry Autonation, I have since then talked to the General Manager, but I wasn't convinced that the advertised "If you aren't satisfied with your car bring it back within 3 days" that recently was advertised (2014) on this dealerships website which he explained is accurate, and that AutoNation took over/ bought Champion just a year ago (and my experience was in 2009 so...go figure, right?) that he would do whatever it takes to earn my business back. Ok, I have an idea, how about the new car I want on your lot minus the 6000.00 I lost on the last deal?? Now you might earn my business back, and I doubt that this would ever happen. Just because someone gives you an earnest answer by phone doesn't mean much if it isn't lived up to in person. just saying. I hope this salesman really doesn't work there anymore, but I would just have to go in person and see because if he was that sly then I am sure he could keep his job making sales for this dealership. Hope I am wrong, but hard to forgive a 6000.00 dollar rip-off. Also wanted to mention it took almost 8 hours for my first car deal to get finished. 8 hours!!!!! I would rate half a star but it wouldn't let me...
