New Acura MDX purchase
by vpl1 on 09/24/2014Bought a new Acura MDX FROM Vandergriff Acura in Sept and found the experience to be very good and straight forward. Sales persons Willy and Tio were helpful but not overbearing. They answered all questions but let the car sell itself. This… is my first Acura but will buy from them again if the car proves as good and reliable as advertised. So far love the car.Great service
by agnes4 on 09/19/2014Purchasing my vehicle here was a great experience! The customer service is excellent! Go see Willie B. for you next vehicle purchase, he does a great job!Great Internet Service
by KMcJ5 on 09/18/2014This was my third but my husband's first car buying experience. We had the pleasure to buy from Jeff C., the Internet Sales Manager. We submitted an online inquiry and Jeff got back to us the same day. Luckily the Acura MDX was… actually there, unlike other places where the vehicle was posted online but not on the lot or already sold. Jeff worked with the finance department to get our MDX at a monthly rate that was perfect for our family. That was the part that really made me write this review because that was really important to us. I will recommend any of my family, friends, co-workers, anyone to buy from Jeff!Great Dealership and service
by cwill15 on 09/16/2014Great experience at Vandergriff with my new 2015 Acura ILX. My salesperson, Matt C. was excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to work with. I will definitely recommend this dealership. All the staff was professional and friendly.Very Happy Customers!
by cila on 09/05/2014I have had he pleasure of doing business with Vandergriff Acura. Used car salesmen are by tradition hard to work with. This is NOT the case at Acura. As a salesperson, Willie is beyond reproach. He was polite and well versed in the… process. Even when were where still shopping, he maintained contact and reiterated he would still like to earn our business. Steve (his manager) was polite and respectful of our need to shop around. Even when we thought the service light came on (BTW - it was me who pushed a wrong button) they cared about the car purchase. Willie even followed up with me to make sure I was happy with the experience! Ultimately, we had a great experience that was far beyond the norm for DFW used cars dealers. I think it is because the team can sell any car on their lot - not just used or new cars. Way to go guys! You are running a quality business with Quality Sales People.Good Buying Experience
by chebbie on 08/11/2014We worked with Justin W. and Robert F. to find the exact optioned MDX we were looking for. They had one in transit and we made a deal on it. It took some back and forth during the negotiations, but we ultimately got a deal we were happy… with. Overall, it was a good experience working with Justin, Robert and Wes K. in finance.Excellent experience. Matt C. was great
by JGrl123 on 07/31/2014Best car buying experience. Matt C. was really great to work with. He was attentive, professional and made the experience hassle-free. Will definitely be buying here again.Fast, friendly, hassle free
by aron4 on 07/28/2014This is a great dealership to do business with. I have purchased 3 vehicles here and each time is better than the last. My latest purchase was no exception. Wade B. handled my purchase promptly, professionally , and politely. Will definitely… be back to buy another vehicle from him when it comes time again.Highly Recommended
by Amgin on 07/26/2014Just bought my 2015 MDX from Vandergriff Acura and I would highly recommend this dealership. I was visiting the DFW area and talked with Ray B. though both email and phone before coming in to the dealership. He was most helpful and was able… to get me a great deal on my car. Ray is hard working, professional, patient, courteous, and very knowledgable about his cars. Would recommend seeing him when going to Vandergriff! Great overall experience and I felt like I was treated with respect unlike some other car dealerships I went to see before.Matt C. is awesome!
by langley40 on 06/30/2014I have had my new 2014 MDX for a month now and LOVE it! Vandergriff offered the most for my trade-in and Matt was upfront and direct with his sale. No gimmicks or cheesy sales pitches!Purchased a pre owned Acura TSX
by Chickychick on 06/13/2014I worked with the internet manager, Matt C. who did a fantastic job. He made the car buying process simple and straight forward. I would definitely purchase again from Vandergriff.Horrible Experience, they sold a car that I placed a deposit on the next da
by akaonyx25 on 08/23/2010This is the worst experience I have ever had with a dealership! I found a 2004 C70 Volvo on Auto Trader. I live in NC and the dealership is located in TX. So of course, I wanted to have the car checked out before flying there. I was paying… for this inspection not the dealership. Just to get the car to another dealership to get inspected seemed like an act of God. The sales people were very unproffesional and kept giving me excuses. Their names are George and Kornelija by the way. After finally getting the car to the Volvo Clinic and several calls to the technician, the Volvo Clinic technician tells me that he was unable to check out the car because the dealership needed it back! At this point, I figured someone is lying. Remind you, that I have already placed a deposit on the car and negotiated the price to where I needed it to be. The deposit I was told, takes the car off the market for a few days. On Saturday 8/21/10, I email Kornelija asking for a bill sale. I think this is fair. She responded with the final numbers only. I responded that I absolutely needed a bill of sale and I was aware of the final numbers. Then I get an email stating that I would get an email from Dave Chapman, their used car manager, which I didn't! 8/23/10, I email Kornelija again stating that I did not receive the email from the manager and I would greatly appreciate a bill of sale via email of fax and I get a response that the car was sold to another person who did not negotiate the price.I will never go here again!
by young64 on 07/20/2010I saw an ad they had for a MDX I wanted. We live about 4 hours away so we found a couple to look at while we were in the area. When we arrived we looked it over and noticed a few places with scratches. As we started talking about price,… I told them that I was serious on buying that day and I ask what's the best they could do on the price. They immediately said that they could take off the certification (it was advertised as a Certified Pre-Owned, [CPO]) and that would lower the price by about $500. I told him the reason that I was looking at that one was because it was CPO and I didn't want it removed. I said we saw one that wasn't CPO that we liked a lot and had options that this one didn't and cost less (it was a year newer [2009] had the lift gate, roof rack, running boards, and a color that we liked better). He proceeded to tell me that they don't put options on their cars on purpose because they were pointless and then demanded to know where the other MDX was. I told him Sewell Saab and he immediately went and called them (I'm assuming because they thought I was lying). When he came back I told him that the price on this one would have to be low enough to make me swing to his MDX. He demanded to know what that price was. I didn't want to tell them a price because already told them I wanted to know what the best they could do. He then went and got "The Closer" (a term for a sales manager known for high pressure). They then proceeded to physically corner me and start pressuring me (and even got hostile toward me) for a price I would be willing to pay. I even told them I felt like they were pressuring me and they told me that they weren't but continued. I finally told them a price. They had a "printout" of what they "claimed" to be the total cost of what they had into it (no dealer would ever show you that). The price I gave them was $200 below what the "printout" said they had into it. I really stopped believing anything they said after that. They told me that they had a company policy that any used vehicle could only be on the lot for 45 days before they sent it to auction. It was about 24 days into its time and they told me they were willing to take a loss of $200 than risk a loss of thousands at the auction. After about 15 minutes of them hounding me and physically cornering me I left and told them I was going to Sewell. That is the last time I will ever come within 100 meters of this place.Fantastic Experience
by rm51 on 03/06/2010My and my wife's experience with Vandergriff was fantastic. I was interested in an Acura TL and knew my budget limitations. I initially called the dealership and was put in touch with Eric Blair, New Car Sales Manager, and, a little to my… surprise, we began talking by e-mail. I told him what I was looking for and he quoted me a price that was outside my budget, although not a bad price at all. I responded with the price that I felt would work for me and stated that I fully understood if the car could not be sold at that price. Eric stated that he could do the deal and we moved forward. Two days later, my family and I went to the dealership to handle the necessary paperwork and pick up the car. The process was seamless. The finance manager, Holly, was very nice and very low pressure regarding the various options that were available. Steve, the internet sales manager spent approx. 45 minutes going over the more technical features of the car and was extremely cordial. While most of Eric's work had been done previously by e-mail, he remained very involved and welcoming to the dealership. Landry, another salesman, was also involved in various aspects of the transaction and was extremely cordial and knowledgeable. Finally, I cant say enough good things about Robert Knowles, the General Manager. He, as most GM's are, was heavily involved in the process, but having already secured the purchase price by e-mail, there was no back and forth between the salesman and GM that I was used to when purchasing a car. Mr. Knowles is very courteous and gives the impression that he knows customers have a choice and truly appreciates people who enter his dealership. My experience is that this dealership operates with a high degree of integrity that starts at the top (Mr. Knowles) and flows down. I would not hesitate to do future business with them or recommend anyone to them.Don't buy a car at Vandergriff Acura - Especially Used!
by cattlecollie on 10/12/2009If you enjoy a miserable car buying experience, Vandergriff Acura is the place for you. If not, please go elsewhere. I bought a used car from the last month. I saw the car on Craigslist, and we went to look at it. Husband negotiated them… down and they turned down our offer, even let us walk, saying they would be losing money to sell it to us at that price. The next week, I see the same car posted on Craigslist at the price they let us walk away. I call and ask if the car is still available, and it is. We then ask our original salesperson how that can be. She says that some of the salespeople there post cars on Craigslist without approval. She agrees to that price, then goes back and says no, she can't do that price, only can do a higher price. My husband talks to the used car manager and he accepts the advertised price on Craigslist, but moans that they are losing money at that price. (They more than make up any "lost" money in the outrageous fees they charge you at purchase time!) Another thing that happed, when we first test drove the car, I noticed that a plastic piece of trim was broken on the side of the front passenger seat. I asked about it and the salesperson said it was on order and being replaced. When we came back to purchase the car, the broken piece was still there. She told me that the piece she thought was on order for that car was actually for another one, but she would order and replace it. During the finance/purchase process, I told the advisor that we had been promised that piece, and he put it in writing on a "We Owe" document. Lucky we did that, because after the fact, the saleswoman tried to back out of replacing the piece, saying it was more expensive than she thought it would be, and there would also be labor fees. We stuck to our guns and once I mentioned the "We Owe" doc, she changed her tune and ordered the piece, and had one of the other salespeople replace it. I had to keep after her about it though, (lots of calls not returned) and it took a few weeks. Lesson learned - Do not take delivery of a vehicle until it is exactly as you want it! Otherwise, do not purchase, walk away! One more thing...the car had locking lug nuts. I found that the key was missing. Saleswoman said "well, we can order you a new set...at your cost". I feel that a car with locking lug nuts should come with the key, right? I didn't notice this at time of delivery so enough time had elapsed that I didn't feel like messing with it, and took it to Honda and had them remove the locking lugs and replace with plain lugs. Saleswoman said she would call me last week once she found out the cost of the new set of locking lugs....still waiting for that call, not expecting it. So...if you want a great car buying experience, avoid Vandergriff Acura! They are disorganized, and one person doesn't know what the other is doing, and I feel they are not customer oriented.TL SH-AWD W TECH
by acuraprice on 08/08/2009Tried to buy a car from Vandergriff on 2 seperate ocassions in July as I walked and they later called me back, and after cooling off for a month finally again today. Made offers in the low and later mid 37K range. Sales Manager acted as… though he was highly offended, can't loose money, running a 10 million dollar dealership - bills to pay, etc. Raised his voice at me and whined and complained like a baby about my offer. Another guy claiming to be his boss called me back later today to try and help. He very boldly said, "I understand you had a problem with Bill S." "I can tell you though that we aren't going to loose money on any car here at Vandergriff". He acted as though I had done something wrong and would not even counter offer - he was totally unprofessional, very cocky and arrogant. Bottom line, I wouldn't feel comfortable dealing with these people in any way shape or form. At this point, I would not buy the car from Vandergriff Acura if offered for less than $37,500. They need to hire people with more integrity!! Stay away from this dealership!!My Experience w Vandergriff
by docgarner on 06/01/2009I knew without doubt what car I wanted and Vandergriff had a trim/color combination I was interested in. I was looking to buy within 48 hours, and didn't have a lot of time to waste. After reading several good reviews about this dealer on… various Acura forums, I contacted their internet sales mgr, Steve Morrell via Edmunds. He offered a slightly above-average price for the car I was interested in, but then didn't call me back that afternoon as he had offered. I figured he'd gotten tied up, or otherwise got too busy, but still needed a car soon so I went to the dealership that night in person to look at the prospect. A salesman (filling in for Steve, who had left) was extraordinarily enthusiastic and helpful. I made it clear that I wanted to buy the car that night. Now, I want to be completely fair, so here's the full disclosure: I was in early negotiations with other dealers at that time as well and thought the "right price" was almost $50/mo less than theirs. This is because of a math error in a quote given me by another dealer that didn't realize some TLs come with performance wheels/tires at extra cost. Laboring under this false assumption, I asked why there was such a price discrepancy This is where the trouble began. Someone who introduced himself as the general sales manager stormed out of his office, mumbled a "Hey" at me with clear disgust on his face, then sat me down to tell me how it was. He opened with "This is my price. You've been given it before (by Steve) and if that doesn't work for you, then you need to go find yourself another dealer." Stunned, I tried to de-escalate the situation by apologizing for our rocky start and asked him to help me understand the price differences. Again, he would have none of it. He stated flatly "I don't care where they get their numbers. Maybe they work on a different profit structure than I do. You have my price." His statements had become loud enough that the few people still in the dealership had started poking their heads around corners. If the goal was to show me who was the boss, I received the message. The man, and thus the dealership, had no interest in my business. I walked out. The next day, Steve called me back to ask what had gone wrong the night before. I explained all of the above. He reassured me that this was *not* the Vandergriff experience and promised to call me back after looking into it. I was happy he called and really hoping we could put things back on track, since I still wanted the blue color. As I write this review of my experience, it's been a week hence; he never called. It isn't a problem. The day after my encounter at Vandergriff, I bought the car from another dealer and had a great experience doing it. Buyer beware - even if you don't see him in person, this is the manager who's setting up your deals.A good experience
by khanzh on 08/30/2007Adam, was just about the best salesman i've dealt with during this buying expedition. he was a straight talker, told me whats what and helped me by actually suggesting that I should not put a large deposit down etc etc. told me how much… variance in the lease for a 12K vs 15K etc etc. it was just nice talking to a dealer's rep who spoke english and not higgedly piggedly dealer talk..................although Goodson was patient with me, but they kept doing the ol bait and switch and I got tired of it. thus adam, spoke to him on the phone, gave me the deal, went to the dealership, over in half an hour.........awsome. highly reccomended.Amazing Customer Service...
by venumy on 01/22/2014updated 07/28/2025Has to be one of the best new car buying experience I have had in ages. After having chatted with Wade B. (At Vandergriff Acura) a couple of times earlier in the week he gave me the best price around on a 2014 Acura MDX. Other dealers in… the region could not match the price. I called him at 7PM on a Saturday night and asked him if I drove 45 mins to his dealership that night, can I drive home in a new car given they close at 9:00 PM, his response: "We will work for as long as needed to get you in a new car"... at 10:45 PM that night he was shaking my hands and giving me keys to my new car.. He took the pains to take me on a test drive (that late), allow me to make a decision, help me move the process quicker, while not once asking me if I made up my mind to buy it or not and more importantly get me in my new car... to say he went out of his way to make (t)his customer happy is an understatement. To help him be successful was Vandergriff Acura team, as the financial advisor, the manager and another sales man (Wes) were around to help close the deal late in the night... They were all there when I drove away and closed out behind me. Truly and absolutely a pleasant experience... P.N: I made another call to a local Dallas Acura dealer (much closer to where I live) at the same time and was told we can start the paper work but they are closing and that I can come back early next week to get the car.... 2 dealers, same car, same city, different attitudes towards customer satisfaction...Thank you Wade/Vandergriff, love my new MDX...Execellent Buying Experience w/ Wade!!
by Candice_H on 02/17/2014updated 07/28/2025I received excellent sales service from Wade B.! He was able to listen to my wants and needs and provided a great car buying experience. I am extremely pleased with my new car and would recommend Wade personally for any car purchasing… needs.Best Car Buying Experience!
by mtcb2013 on 11/03/2013updated 07/28/2025We had the best car buying experience ever! We had been looking for a SUV for a couple of months- every time we walked into a Dallas dealer we walked out feeling like we were about to be financially raped- THEN we discovered David R. and… Vandergriff- David was knowledgeable, honest, and above all he did not pressure us. The whole experience was great- first time I can actually say we had an easy car buying experience. We love are MDX and David is the reason we chose Acura vs Infiniti and other brands. Will definitely be back and highly recommend Vandergriff- avoid Dallas and go to Arlington you won't be sorry!
About our dealership
Very true. The manager here is very shady. Would never do business with them. Don't expect that the deal you think is finalized, no matter how much time you have gone through, is the deal you are actually going to sign for in the finance office. Things have a habit of changing in the walk to the office.
