  • Fantasitc Experience at Crown Honda of Charlotte

    4.8 out of 5 starsby pengyou2 on 11/11/2010

I submitted request to several dealerships for internet quotes in the Charlotte, NC area. All of the dealers were quick to respond but the process for all of them took about a week. I asked all the dealers for the "drive away price" and several of the dealers gave me the price without (tax, tag, title, etc) so it was hard to find out the final cost. (They did not answer my question) I was able to get this cost from two dealers in Charlotte. Greg Butler at Crown Honda gave me the best price right off the bat no playing games. The other dealers kept wanting me to come in and talk about it and would not answer my e-mail questions. Greg provided me the information with no pressure and was quick to answer questions. It was the best car buying experience I ever had. I left feeling like I got a great deal and did not have anything added that I did not want. I know I got a great deal because it was in sync with what Edmunds and other websites said I should pay The drive away price I was told on the phone was what I paid when I drove off the lot. I even got an excellent deal on my trade in and I have never traded in a car before. (This was after I had agreed on a selling price of the new car).

  • Great salesperson, scam business office

3.5 out of 5 starsby wcwilson on 11/09/2010

Had a great experience with Bill Schwartz when I drove an Insight, Fit and ultimately bought a used Prius from him. Had a horrible experience in the "business office" completing the transaction. They tried ramming over $6k of warranty/service plan down our throats (on a $20k car) after scaring us with everything that could go wrong that the manufacturer warranty would not cover. They wasted our time trying to sell us stuff that we did not want while our documents were "being generated." We left with a bad taste in our mouths, which was a shame because up to that point we likes the experience and can recommend Bill.

  • Aweful!!!! Never again!!!!

I wonder about some of these reviews, after visiting Crown I will never go back there again. When I went there a group of sales guys were standing on the side of the building, and had no interest in talking with me. I was in the showroom, sat in three cars, and noone would talk to me. Place was a ghost town. No one was buying there, didn't feel right. I bought from a different store, and felt like they really wanted my business. You are much better off just driving by this place. It's a waste of time.

  • Great deal, no pressure or surprices, best service & people!!!

4.8 out of 5 starsby sunrays on 10/30/2008

The internet manager Eric Cover was incredibly helpful and gave us a truly amazing deal on Honda Odyssey EX-L. He made the buying experience as painless as possible with no gimmicks or surprises. He nicely explained all the features of the van.All of the Crown Honda associates that we met were extremely friendly (incuding Sale Manager Steve) and they treated us with the upmost respect. They beat the best deal we were previously offered, they deliverd on every promise they made via email & phone conversations. They made the process simple, honest and straight forward. We would highly recommend purchasing a car from this dealership.

  • Crown Honda is Fabulous- Eric Cover was the BEST!!!

    5 out of 5 starsby alicia75 on 10/24/2008

My husband and I have always been big Honda fans. This purchase was our third. With the economy in such bad shape we really did our due diligence to get the absolute best deal. Eric Cover was the internet specialist/manager at Crown Honda that we had the pleasure to work with. He was truly a standout right from the start with his direct no BS emails. When we finally met him at the dealership he was waiting up front with the vehicle we were interested in right there to see and test out. The whole process was professional and enjoyable... we didn't feel like we were getting the runaround, and Eric's great offer never waivered. We have purchased from two other Honda dealerships in Charlotte, I can honestly say we will never go anywhere else from here forward!

  • I'm ashamed to say I bought a Civic from them

    3 out of 5 starsby jparker3 on 06/26/2008

I love my new Honda Civic but would never do business with Crown Honda of Charlotte, NC again. Due to the shortage of Civics in May I purchased my car from them as no one else had the car/color/equipment combination I wanted. I find it interesting that others have found Richie Carter, the internet sales manager, as unprofessional as we did. At one point, in the middle of our transaction, he even told us he needed to go out for a smoke. Hey Richie, I don't care if you smoke, they're your lungs, just don't make me- your customer- feel like I am getting in the way of of your smoke break. Another time during the "internet" negotiation process he called me 9 times within an hour on my cell phone. BEWARE - Never give Richie Carter you phone number. Bottom line: I wish I had been more patient and waited for [violative content deleted] to get me the car I wanted. They were giving me the same price and they treated me in a very professional manner. While I got a fair price at Crown, it just wasn't worth it. The first thing I did when I got the car home was remove all of Crown's "name tags" from the car as I didn't want anyone to know I did business with them.

I emailed thier "internet sales manager" over 20 times over span of two weeks in attempts to get the best price on a civic. We finally came to a good price. I went in, they acted like they knew who I was, everything was cool, I was there waiting on them. But I thought that was ok because I was about to get a great deal on a car. I test drove it and all was great, until it came to pricing time. They then quoted me at 3k more than we talked about in our emails. When I brought up the price, my salesperson went to get the manager so he could try to convince me that I was an idot and that the price on the emails was just a base price. All of our discussions centered around an Out The Door price. They basically lied to get me in the door, then tried to [violative content deleted] me. Do not attempt to do business with them. They will just waste your time.
    • Crown Honda of Charlotte certainly ran me off today when I simply called about an unpriced internet ad for a used vehicle. The receptionist first transferred me to an invalid extension, so I called back, and waited while she paged the "internet manager" repeatedly. When "Richie" finally answered, I inquired about the price of the vehicle and he said he'd have to check on it and call me back in 10 minutes. I offered an email address instead (he is, after all, the INTERNET manager). I told him it would help me better organize all the quotes I was collecting. He was not amused and sarcastically remarked, "well obviously you don't want to give your phone number..." I politely repeated that an emailed price quote would be ideal for my situation, gave him the address, and he confirmed it. But his response was half-hearted and equivocal: "okay, I'll see if I can try to get that out to you in a couple of HOURS." So originally it was going to take 10 minutes, now it's hours? Shouldn't email be a preferred method of communication for someone whose job title has the word 'internet' in it? Slightly put off, I still cheerfully thanked him for his help, but his response was a monotone, disinterested "mmmm" which he followed immediately by hanging up. I've waited all day but still no email. I'm very put off. Even if I were to receive an email quote right this instant (unlikely since it's night time), I'd still be put off because of such lack of professionalism. Richie, if you're reading this, I seriously doubt I'll be doing any business at Crown Honda. I did not feel like you cared one way or the other about me as a potential customer. Our conversation left me with a very bad first impression, but at least now I know not to waste any more of my time with your dealership.

  • Just Awful!

    2 out of 5 starsby 08camryxle on 11/03/2007

This dealership is corrupt from the top down. They are only after money. I first visited on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to look at the new 2008 redesigned Accord. When I arrived on the lot I was initially pleased with the lack of salesmen. I thought, wow, they're going to at least give me a minute to get out of my car. Well, after walking around the lot trying to find where the Accords were parked for about 8 minutes, I figured that I would go find a salesperson. Well, I stuck my head in the door, and found no one. I left the lot, but placed a call to the sales manager, Mr. Rob Beard, letting him know that I was interested in looking at a new Accord, but was unable to find any assistance during my visit. Two days later, on Friday, I received a call from Rob apologizing for my experience and he begged me to give him a second chance to make this up to me. We agreed that I could come back on Saturday afternoon. I asked if this would be a busy time for the lot, but was assured that I was a V.I.P and would be "taken care of" by him personally. I arrived on the lot and was immediately greeted and taken inside to Mr. Beard who explained that he would set me up with his "special" salesman who was very knowledgeable about the Accord. He said he would give us time to look and then "take over from there." Well, I test drove a top-of-the line Accord Coupe V6. The guy made sure to tell me that this pearl white car was loaded with everything, including a Nav system and was only 1 of 4 in the South East. This process took about 45 minutes. Then, I had them appraise my car. This process took much, much longer. During this time a group came in that was purchasing 4 new vehicles. Not only did I lose my salesman, but Mr. Beard also focused on this new group. I was left to dangle for a very extensive period of time. Next came the most outrageous part. The price they offered for my trade in was beyond laughable. They also were only willing to negotiate $1,000 from the sticker price of the car and trade allowance ($500 each). They talked in circles. When I asked to talk to Mr. Beard personally, since I was supposedly the V.I.P guest that would be "taken care of," I was greeted by Frank who said he was on the same level as Beard. He was condescending and didn't offer to help. The story continues with me sitting around while other people took priority. To make a long story short, when I finally did approach Mr. Beard to tell him that I was disappointed, he turned and walked away without saying anything. All of these guys walk around like they own the world and think too highly of both themselves and the cars on the lot. During the time that I was left to wait I was constantly hearing other groups of salesmen pep each other up and talk about how they were "key holing" a certain family. I don't know what this means, but the conversations I heard weren't comforting. I left the lot happy that I didn't do business with this company but frustrated that I wasted 4 hours of my day (and never made it to a finance office). Granted, this 4 hours included my 45 minute round-trip drive time. There are other Honda places in the area -- send your business that way. I will tell my story to everyone I know and make sure that this business practice that is corrupt from the top down is known.

I leased a new car on a Monday - worked with a very nice sales associate, and everything seemed to go great. Went through finance, signed contracts and walked out happy. I returned to the dealership that same week on Friday to bring them my down payment and was told another form needed signing. I was brought to the finance director who informed me that our financing wasn't set, and my payment was going to go up $100/month. They didn't call me to tell me there were any issues, and when I walked out of there on Monday we were told everything was all set. After a hassle of figuring out what to do, they discounted the price of the car so my payment would remain where we originally settled. Today, 2 weeks later, I received yet ANOTHER call from financing stating that a new contract needs to be signed because they didn't use the rebate money correctly on the deal. I live 30 minutes from the dealership, it has been two weeks and this deal still isn't completed. I am so extremely frustrated, and will not return to Scott Clark Honda in 3 years when my lease runs out... nor will I advise anybody to purchase a vehicle there.

I've been to many car dealerships in the Charlotte area that rush you into to buying a car. David G. at Scott Clark Honda patiently helped me with all my questions and needs with purchasing my next vehicle. I recommend him for the best car buying experience. Thank you

I recently purchased a 2013 Honda Odyssey from Scott Clark Honda. Steve C assisted me with the purchase of this minivan. Steve listened attentively to my needs and wish list. I also had a positive experience with the Finance department. I was in and out of the dealership in less than three hours.

I had a great experience at Scott Clark Honda on Memorial Day. It was my first car buying experience and I visited another dealership that day, but I was not impressed with their customer service/sales process. I walked into the door at Scott Clark Honda feeling like my business was wanted and appreciated. Austin was our sales guy and he was very personable and inviting. He asked me several important questions and helped me through the process because I didn't know what to expect. I was not planning on buying a car that day, but the way Austin and George treated me made me change my mind that day! I walked out with a great deal on a brand new Honda Civic and they even bought my friend and I dinner because we were there for so long. Highly recommend this dealership if you are in the market!

First, let me say that when we purchased our Tundra from Scott Clark Toyota, it was a very good experience. I wish I could say the same for our purchase at Scott Clark Honda. My 18 year old son and his mother purchased a '98 Camry from SCH on May 7th. When test driving, my son told the salesman, David G, that the car pulled to the left. Mr. G said, "we'll put our best mechanic on it right away." Afterward My son was told that the front end had been aligned and was "perfect". On the way home my son noticed the car still pulled to the left. He went back to the dealer and was told "that's just the tires. It will go away after driving it for awhile." Everyone knows that tires do not cause a car to pull to one side unless the are mismatched, and that it won't "go away" in time. My son returned for a third time, and was told to just give it time. I then had my sin take the car to our local mechanic. He said the car had severe alignment issues and would wear out the tires in a short time if not repaired. The fact that the salesman took advantage of an 18 year old is one thing, to flat out lie is another. Mr. G LIED to my son about the alignment, the repairs done and the "problem will go away on its own." statement. The Scott Clark dealerships have a good reputation in the area, but continued service like this will ruin that reputation very quickly. I would NOT recommend Scott Clark Honda to anyone in general and Mr. G specifically. This is a very difficult lesson for my son, and unfortunately, the "used car salesman" lived up to the stereo type.
    • Dear conantb, I am sorry to read of your poor experience at our dealership. Please call me at the dealership, at your earliest convenience, so I may learn more of your experience and see what I can do to correct any challenges you are still having. My purchase of the 2014 Honda Odyssey EXL yesterday was very smooth. The staff exceeded my expectations from the sales floor to the finance department. Terry W in Internet Sales was very courteous and prompt in all communications before coming into the dealership. Unlike other dealers, I got the pleasure of actually meeting the staff who has been working with me over e-mail. Holly made sure that I had the details on the trade, gave me a wonderful test drive experience and showed me that she cared genuinely in getting the right van. John G in finance made sure that I had all the information for the purchase and went through it in detail including staying late to make sure I had everything I needed to complete the sale to be able to drive my van home that night. I have bought many used and new cars before and well, Scott Clark has provided the best experience that I have ever had in buying a car.

I have now purchased 2 Honda Odyssey's from Steve B at Scott Clark Honda. I had done a lot of research on the Odyssey, when I went into Scott Clark Honda to purchase my first Odyssey, Steve B was very helpful and answered any questions I had. I actually left the first time I went in to Scott Clark Honda, he was very nice and didn't pressure me to stay or try to talk me into purchasing at that moment. I went to visit another brand and was pressured and felt very uncomfortable. I immediately returned to Scott Clark Honda and worked with Steve B and purchased my 2012 Honda Odyssey. This past June I returned to Scott Clark Honda and worked with Steve once again to trade my 2012 and purchase my 2013 Honda Odyssey. Everyone was wonderful to work with and I can't wait to go back in the future to purchase another Honda vehicle. Thanks for everything Steve. Vicki
