Such a great experience!!!
by ariel.daniel91 on 07/02/2018My husband and I went to Colonial Honda without any intention of buying a car that day. I drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee and needed to downsize to a car with better gas mileage. Our sales rep, Malcolm, approached us in the lot and asked if we… needed any help. We told him that we were just looking so he told us to take our time but that he was here if we needed him to answer any questions. (Mind you, my husband and I are not the type of people that want someone following us around… normally if that happens, we leave the dealership and come back after hours). After Malcolm gave us his card and left us to look at the cars, my husband immediately looked at me and said “If we buy a car today, that’s the guy we’re going to work with.” We looked at different models and different colors and I found a Silver 2018 Civic that I fell in love with. At that time another salesman approached us and we informed him that we would like to speak with Malcolm. During the test drive, Malcolm was not pushy at all, but made sure we were aware of all of the awesome features of the Civic. We then informed Malcolm that we were upside down on our Jeep and although we really liked the Civic, we weren’t sure if we were at a place where a deal could be made. However, Malcolm was up to the challenge. While we were negotiating prices and discussing numbers, Malcolm really made us feel that he was working for our benefit. We really felt like we were getting the absolute best deal possible! My husband is normally a hard sell when it comes to buying a new car; however, he could NOT stop singing Malcolm’s praises on the ride home. He and I have both shared with friends and family that this is the absolute BEST car buying experience we have ever had. We will absolutely be referring friends, family, and colleagues to Colonial Honda (and even more specifically, to Malcolm). Thank you all for such a great experience! I love my little Civic! :) :)Happy Customer
by SSlaughter78 on 01/27/2016updated 02/14/2016I recently purchased a 2016 Honda CR-V EXL and I love it. RJ Jackson was my sales associate and he was amazing to work with. RJ did everything he could to help me with my purchase and was professional and friendly. I will definitely… recommend Colonial Honda and RJ Jackson! Thanks RJ!!! You made this car buying experience awesome!Great Car Buying Experience
by Cstiedle on 07/28/2015I recently bought a CRV from Colonial Honda! Gordon Winfield sold me my new vehicle and made the experience the least stressful car buying experience one could have had! He worked diligently to insure I bought a car I was comfortable with… and worked with me to stay in my budget! His relaxed demeanor was an important reason why I bought my car at this dealership!Used to be our Honda dealer
by farmerbob1 on 12/08/2014My family has bought new Hondas from Colonial since 2006. My sister and I recently attempted to buy two 2015 Fits to replace our 2013 models purchased from Colonial. I was unable to get what I wanted as a trade in which is fine but the… salesman continued to insult my intelligence by only wanting to talk monthly payments and not price. My sister payed 12000 down and had an approval letter from her credit union and contact and fax numbers in order to finance the remainder. We were told when everything was complete that either they had to have the money from the credit union in hand or they would put dealer tags on the car and she could return when the credit union sent the check. Since we live too far from the dealer this was unacceptable. She did not have this problem when buying her 2013 car in the same way. The managers rude reply was that he was not at the dealer then. Apparently they never tried to contact the credit union. We drove to West Broad Honda in Richmond and the process was effortless. She got her car in much less time than we had spent at Colonial and they did not understand why we had a problem at Colonial. The credit union rep said he had never ran into this problem before and suggested that Colonial didn't deserve our business. I agree. Our loyalty apparently means nothing.Unprofessional and Dishonest
by tjhorne on 04/12/2008At first there was some confusion on the pricing of the vehicle that I was sent via e-mail. The price included with that description wasn't what they were offered when I got to the dealership even though I showed them the e-mail. Supposedly… it was a mistake. I was really hoping the dealership would honor the price that was sent via e-mail but that wasn't the case, strike #1. Next, I was low balled on my trade-in by almost $3,000 according to KBB.com and Edmunds.com, striked #2. We couldn't seem to come to an agreement and the Sales Manager walked over and didn't say anything but hand me and my wife his card and said if we have any questions give him a call and that was it, kind of rude if you ask me, especially for a Sales Manager. If it were me I would have handled it a little more professionally, instead he chose NO EXPLANATION of any kind, just a card and good riddance, strike #3. For this treatment he lost 2 potential sales, my Mom was looking at a S2000 which she was going to pay cash for and myself looking at a Civc EX-L w/ navigation. This is the second time my family was treated poorly and have had to go to Richmond, VA to get a better deal and better service, I'm truly disappointed and promise never to step foot on the dealerships lot again. For such tight economic times you'd think a car dealership would try to pride themselves on customer service, especially a manager, but this doesn't seem to be the case with Colonial Honda.2014 CR-V purchase
by jeff275 on 01/08/2014updated 06/05/2025After shopping around at other dealerships, we chose Colonial Honda for their great price on our new CR-V. Our car buying experience was very pleasant and virtually stress free. Also, Gary S. (our sales Rep) was very accommodating in… answering our questions about the vehicle, warranty details, etc. He made us feel confident in our purchase and really made us feel at home. We would definitely recommend this dealership to our friends! Thanks, JFWonderful buying experience!!!!!
by tigergirl804 on 01/02/2014updated 06/05/2025I gave the dealer a five star rating due to the fact that there price was excellent and there customer service wonderful! I bought a 2013 Honda civic and everyone was excellent. Anyone looking to buy a Honda should go there first and save… yourself a lot of time. They are far ahead of the other dealers in the Richmond, VA area. Definitely worth the drive to Chester, Va.Great Price + Great Sales Team = Perfect
by Accord_2014 on 01/12/2014updated 06/05/2025Bought a 2014 Honda Accord today , Experience was A++ They promised a price and delivered at exactly that, no haggle, no hassle, no pressure. They have changed my mind about buying cars. Could not have gone smoother. Best price in Virginia… and maybe USA. If you have good credit, know what you want and what you should pay, it is clear sailing. Delivered on their word. Thank you!Great Deal at Colonial and Great Service
by Retiring on 05/14/2013updated 06/05/2025I shopped online for several weeks before contacting Colonial and Richard M. was the salesperson that I dealt with. He was able to match a competing Tennessee Honda dealers price so I bought my new 2013 Civic from him. The experience was… amazing from beginning to end. I was able to walk in with the deal already set and all I had to do was drive my new car and sign. I was especially pleased with the extended powertrain warranty that was part of the Colonial package. If you are looking for a new or used Honda I would certainly recommend Richard at Colonial.Happy with my Honda!
by HauntedZoso on 01/16/2014updated 06/05/2025Great experience with Colonial Honda. The sales associate I dealt with was very professional, courteous at all times and had a no pressure sales approach which was quite refreshing after visits to many other dealerships in the Richmond… area. While the dealership was not able to meet a more favorable offer on my initial visit, after some additional negotations and comparisons to the other dealership offering, we were able to successful seal a deal on a brand new Honda. So far, very happy with the purchase, the vehicle and the overall process with Colonial Honda. Do yourself a favor, skip the rest and go find a great sales associate at Colonial to help you with your vehicle search!New Car after 11 years.
by liz59 on 04/25/2013updated 06/05/2025I went to 2 other car dealerships to compare 2 other cars with the Honda before making my decision to buy a new car.. I believe I got more for my money--at Colonial Honda. I bought a Honda Accord EX L. The price was excellent and received… a reasonable amount on trade-in. The Honda had more room inside especially for sitting in the back seat. The seats were more comfortable and I had better peripheral vision . The back up camera was a real selling point for me.The salesman Richard could not have been more helpful. He explained all the features of the car--some of them more that once as I am technically challenged . He helped me program my phone and radio stations before I drove my car off the lot. All of the staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The waiting area where one waits for their car to be serviced is a real plus with large TV and snacks and drinks. I received excellent service and highly recommend Colonial Honda .2014 Accord Sport
by 2014sport on 11/07/2013updated 06/05/2025Using USAA's auto buying service, I solicited on-line quotes from several dealers in the Richmond VA metropolitan area. Among the responses was one from Mr. Jimmy M. at Colonial Honda and it was the lowest for "unit price" of the vehicle… excluding title, taxes, processing, etc. I replied to three dealers by e-mail requesting firm out-the-door (OTD) pricing. Two dealers responded by e-mail with pricing. Ms Melissa W. at Colonial replied by e-mail saying that Colonial typically does not provide written pricing (to avoid auction bidding) but had left the information in a voice message. I spoke with Ms W. by phone, requested written OTD pricing, and received it within 10 minutes. After review, I contacted Mr. M. to inspect the vehicle and conduct a test drive after which we agreed to final terms. Mr Mike R. administered the paperwork, explaining each element in detail, and completed the transaction. Mr. M. then arranged to help shuttle both cars (old one - not traded and the new one) back to my residence about 15 miles away. From first telephone call in the morning to having a 2014 Accord Sport in my driveway took about seven hours. I can't speak to service yet but would encourage anyone considering a new Honda to contact Jimmy M. at Colonial Honda.Excellent Purchasing Experience!
by 80TIGR on 12/30/2013updated 06/05/2025First-time buyer at this dealership and had to write how painless the experience has been. My sales representative- Dane K.- is a consumate pro who made the entire process enjoyable and worthy of future purchases. He did a very thorough job… explaining the 2014 CR-V features to my daughter during a comprehensive test drive and followed up with a house visit once we surprised her with the vehicle Christmas morning! His level of expertise and no-pressure sales style was greatly appreciated and interactions with the sales management team and financial representative were friendly and professional. The greatest compliment I can give is that the entire transaction was a study in how automobile purchasing should be for the consumer. My only regret is that the CR-V will reside out of state and that we will not get to enjoy the service department at Colonial; hopefully the dealerships that my daughter will employ for service are as good as Colonial. Thank you again to Mr. K. who will sell me my next Honda!Colonial Honda Will Switch Vehicles on You
by susnrus on 06/03/2011updated 06/05/2025My wife and I had been shopping around for a new vehicle for her for quite some time. We had narrowed our choices to the Honda Accord and the Toyot Camry. She liked the accord better. Well I had been shopping and negotiating online and got… the best deal from a dealer in Northern Va. We went to look at the vehicle at Colonial because it was closer and we thought if they could meet the price we wouldn't drive to NOVA. They told us that day they couldn't meet that price but to give them a chance. The vehicle we looked at at Colonial actually had roughly $500 of extras added on, pin stripe, all weather floor mats, cargo carrier, splash guards, etc. So I made an offer on that vehicle for a little more ($200) than the Northern Va vehicle since it had more extras and would save me some driving time. Colonial Honda accepted my offer. When we got to the dealership after work that evening to take delivery of that vehicle Colonial Honda had brought in another vehicle and switched it with the one we had made the offer on. It was identical except it did not have any of the extras. They lied and said the extras weren't really on that first vehicle that they were just things that could be added. Well I could physically see the pinstripe, and splash guards. The salesman even held a piece of paper over the extras list like we wouldn't know what he was doing. I don't think the salesman was smart enough to do that on his own so I'm sure the sales manager had that plan concocted but they are both still guilty of switching vehicles on us. Granted, we should have walked away from the deal but we had put so much time and research into we just wanted to get it done. Of course we have regretted it ever since. My wife refused to drive the car for several months. I had a very good friend who was ready to buy a Honda CRV but when I told him this story he went to Mechanicsville and bought his vehicle. Don't deal with Colonial Honda and if you do make sure they give you a VIN number on the car you are negotiating on.......they sold me a vehicle with about $500 less equipment on it than the one I made the offer on.........as far as I'm concerned I will never buy another Honda......and definitely will never buy from Colonial Honda again. In fact nobody I have talked to can believe a so called reputable car dealer would pull an underhanded deal like that but Colonial Honda sure did. Also I filled out the Honda Corp survey to tell them how shady this dealership was and I never heard back from them..........so I take from that Honda is not too interested in customer satisfaction either.Internet experience good, in-person experience bad
by midlocarfan on 02/24/2011updated 06/05/2025I received quote online for a new vehicle, had great correspondence with their online staff. Unfortunately, as soon as you arrive at the dealership, you are handed over to a salesman who has no authority to do anything. We wanted to… trade-in our current vehicle, and they gave us a decent trade-in price. But when we sat down to go over numbers, the salesperson had to keep running to the manager. I had already calculated price and payments, but somehow their calculations were "off". We explained our bottom line price, the trade-in and the fact that our payments were not what we thought they should be. We finally left with a promise from the manager that they would call us back and figure it out. When they finally called me back (3 different times), they gave me a monthly quote, but then extended the payments by 6 months! When I asked for bottom line price, they didn't know it. At this point, we walked away and purchased the same vehicle at another dealership (Mechanicsville) in less than 15 mins.Odyssey EX-L
by rvk4 on 11/12/2013updated 06/05/2025Great experience with Dane k. Up front great price -- spelled out all costs including additions (hitch, roof rack etc ) with installation price. Didn't ever feel like they were trying to slip one past me. Quick communication via email.… Only went to the dealership to make the final purchase. I bypassed 4 dealerships that were much closer because of the price and way they did businessThe reasons I go back to Colonial
by hondaannie on 08/29/2011updated 06/05/2025I have be buying by Hondas from Colonial since they were in Petersburg. Not just because they give me pricing that I feel is fair. They know my name when I walk through the door, I trust they will find me a good APR or lease rate and many… of the people who work there have been there for years. They seem to care if I return. They have a courier Mr. Goodwyn that can take me to get lunch if I set my appt during this time or take me home if need be. The icing on the cake is the free car wash that I get as well. You worry when a business that you have used for years moves and may not maintain the same level of service and ease of doing business. This is not the case, the service manager has been there for years and takes the time to speak each time I am there. Good business and great treatment have gone a long way! I will continue to recommend them to anyone who asks.Very impressed
by ted103 on 04/01/2012updated 06/05/2025Facebook already has my review posted, but I thought I'd share my experience here for others to read. I needed a new vehicle that had lots of space, plenty of power and good gas mileage. A friend suggested I try a 2012 Honda Accord V-6. I… did, and I loved it. After deciding on the EX sedan with the V-6, I began my search. This particular vehicle seems to be a bit rare compared to the 4cyl versions of the Accord and the EX-L V-6 version. There was only one in the immediate area I live in and I never got a price quote from that particular dealer. Then came Angela Ramsey's price quote, and after reading it, I thought it was a gimmick. I didn't believe I could get a price quote as low as she gave. After we talked on the internet about the vehicle, she called me and promised that the price quoted would be the vehicle price. I scheduled an appt for that Saturday and then decided to take Friday off, secure a loan and visit Colonial. I called Angela to inform her of my intention to visit and she was more than happy to see me. When I got there, she had the car ready for a test drive and I was sold. We sat down and discussed the price and paperwork. Angela went to verify that her numbers were correct with her sales manager, came back and informed me that she was mistaken......SHE WAS $1 OVER THE PRICE QUOTED!! Needless to say, we completed the paperwork with the price that was offered over the internet minus the $1, and within an hr or so, she had sold me a new car at a price that was below anything that's suggested as an asking price. The longest part of the process was waiting for the insurance cards to be faxed to the dealer. I had to come back the next day to get the car because I din't have a second person with me. I showed up around 3 pm and Angela had the car prepped by 9 am for me to take home. At 43 years old, this is only the second car I've purchased new, but this ranks as the most satisfying large purchase I've ever made. When customers think about Honda, they think about the quality and pride that Japan puts in every vehicle. Well, Honda should be beaming with pride the way that Angela Ramsey and Colonial Honda treat their customers. Sometimes, it's hard to separate business from personal and they seem to integrate the two seamlessly. If you live in the Richmond area, or like me in the Hampton Roads area and are looking for a Honda at a truly unbelievable price with quality service, give Colonial Honda a chance to earn your business, I doubt you'll be disappointed. I have nothing negative to say about the Honda dealers in the Richmond metro area or the Hampton roads area, Colonial met my budget and buying a car from them just had that small town family owned feeling. Angela, I owe you an apology for not believing you on the phone, I hope you forgive me, you not only earned my trust but future business as well. I only hope you feel the same way. I'll let readers here know what I think about their service department when I use it, which I plan to in the future.Best Honda dealership in Richmond area
by rkv87 on 09/29/2011updated 06/05/2025Today I purchased 2012 Honda Odyssey Touring model from Colonial Honda and I had the best buying experience. Angela Ramsey (Internet Sales) gave me the price quote online which was the most competitive within 100 miles radius of Richmond. I… put in a deposit of $ 500 for 2011 model they were expecting in 3 weeks. She kept me updated about the process when car was in transit. It ended up being 2012 model rather than 2011 model they quoted me but didnt charge me extra on their promised price. Once car arrived, Maurice (sales assosiate) helped me in paper work. I was in and out within 40 minutes with everthing as promised. Ethical business practice with no gimmicks. I would highly recommend them.Great dealer
by 2013Pilot on 07/29/2013updated 06/05/2025I submitted requests for quotes to about 6 dealers around the Richmond area. After a round of emails Colonial was one of the lowest prices. I sent a final request to two Richmond dealerships to see if they would match the low price I… received from Brown Honda in Charlotesville. Colonial matched it without a question. Worked out everything through email and over the phone with Richard M. and picked up my new Pilot the next day. I would definitely recommend Colonial Honda to anyone looking for a new car!Thrilled with our CRV
by Lejacob926 on 10/17/2013updated 06/05/2025Would highly recommend using this dealer. Professional and very easy to work with. We did not have to endure the usual games that most dealers play. Spreading the "good news" to friends and family!
