CMA's Colonial Honda
Dealership Sales Review
My wife and I had been shopping around for a new vehicle for her for quite some time. We had narrowed our choices to the Honda Accord and the Toyot Camry. She liked the accord better. Well I had been shopping and negotiating online and got the best deal from a dealer in Northern Va. We went to look at the vehicle at Colonial because it was closer and we thought if they could meet the price we wouldn't drive to NOVA. They told us that day they couldn't meet that price but to give them a chance. The vehicle we looked at at Colonial actually had roughly $500 of extras added on, pin stripe, all weather floor mats, cargo carrier, splash guards, etc. So I made an offer on that vehicle for a little more ($200) than the Northern Va vehicle since it had more extras and would save me some driving time. Colonial Honda accepted my offer. When we got to the dealership after work that evening to take delivery of that vehicle Colonial Honda had brought in another vehicle and switched it with the one we had made the offer on. It was identical except it did not have any of the extras. They lied and said the extras weren't really on that first vehicle that they were just things that could be added. Well I could physically see the pinstripe, and splash guards. The salesman even held a piece of paper over the extras list like we wouldn't know what he was doing. I don't think the salesman was smart enough to do that on his own so I'm sure the sales manager had that plan concocted but they are both still guilty of switching vehicles on us. Granted, we should have walked away from the deal but we had put so much time and research into we just wanted to get it done. Of course we have regretted it ever since. My wife refused to drive the car for several months. I had a very good friend who was ready to buy a Honda CRV but when I told him this story he went to Mechanicsville and bought his vehicle. Don't deal with Colonial Honda and if you do make sure they give you a VIN number on the car you are negotiating on.......they sold me a vehicle with about $500 less equipment on it than the one I made the offer on.........as far as I'm concerned I will never buy another Honda......and definitely will never buy from Colonial Honda again. In fact nobody I have talked to can believe a so called reputable car dealer would pull an underhanded deal like that but Colonial Honda sure did. Also I filled out the Honda Corp survey to tell them how shady this dealership was and I never heard back from them..........so I take from that Honda is not too interested in customer satisfaction either.
