On 1-30-16 my step son and I stopped by Jeff Wyler used car lot to see what all they had and to get some ideas on pricing. My son has 04 Grand Prix with 180k miles and was looking to get something newer with less miles. Buying another car without selling his first or trading it in as a down payment to lower his payments was NOT an option and I made that very clear multiple times to the first sales guy we dealt with, Kyle Thielmeyer. We did find an 09 Charger that my step son and I were very happy with so we started to work toward that deal. I asked Kyle several times through the 2.5 hours we spent there how much they would give us trade in on the car. He finally took all the info on the car and left for a while to go see how much they would give as trade in. He came back and said $500. I explained the car is worth more than that and I could not accept that. He explained that we could get the Charger today then when we sold the car we could put the money in a bank account and use it as a buffer to make the payments on the Charger. I explained we were not going to do that. We talked about the trade in value of the car and he told me many times that they would send the car to auction and it would only bring $500 and that they could not do more than that. I understood his position and he understood mine so it seemed. I asked him for his card so I could contact him when we got the Grand Prix sold. He said the Charger will likely not be there in a week or it may be at a higher price at that time. I told him that if that is his answer when I contact him I would completely understand and asked him again for his card. He just kept ignoring the question and kept asking me questions to get me more interested in the Charger so I simply kept explaining my position over and over again. Finally he said "ok, I will go get you one of my cards but if my manager comes out to talk to you just let him know what is going on". I said sure no problem. 3 seconds after Kyle walked away Greg Flick walked up with a big smile on his face, shook our hands and asked if there was anything he could do to help. I explained my position to him all over again and he explained how their numbers are down for the month, down for the day, the last day of the month is tomorrow and he would be willing to do just about anything to get this deal done. He says well how about I do $1000 on the trade in. I said I would still need to come back at a later time with my wife since she works at the bank we will be getting the loan through. He said well how about I do $1500 on the trade. I said you are getting closer, then repeated what I said about my wife needing to be there. He said how about I do $1800. I said the same thing. He said how about I do $2000 on the trade in as he wrote the numbers down each time on his paper. I said yes, that would get the deal done, he then handed me the marker and asked me to initial the deal and I did. Then repeated for the 5th time what I said about my wife needing to be there. I explained we could come back today or tomorrow and make the deal then but I have a 4pm appointment to get to. He asked me what the appointment was for (as if he was going to try and talk me out of going to it) and I replied it was a long story. Then he tried to get me to believe that we could have this deal wrapped up in time for me to be at my 4pm appointment without even knowing how much drive time was involved. This told me that he did not respect my time and he had no concern about me making it to my appointment on time. He only cared about what was in his best interest. At this time it was 320 and we had been there at least 2.5 hours. Obviously at this point Greg the "closer" and so called manager was put out he could not get me to buy on the spot and told Kyle to give me his card. He got very short with us and was visibly agitated as I recapped the next steps and said our awkward goodbyes and thanks. This was extremely high pressure sales antics and Greg had been trained extremely well to nearly handcuff customers to keep them from leaving. The reason I say "so called manager" is because Greg is listed on your website as a sales consultant just like Kyle. Bottom line is if we could do the $2000 trade in deal then everyone walks away happy, it would save me time selling the car and our son would have the car for his birthday the very next day. I spoke to my wife after my 4pm appointment and she agreed so we all returned at 6pm. I called Kyle before we were on our way to let him know but he did not answer his cell phone. I found Kyle when we arrived and simply said if we can do the $2000 trade in, then it's a deal. Kyle went and got Greg and explained the deal to him which was the same deal we discussed just 2.5 hours earlier. At this point we had no further dealings with Kyle, Greg took over and I thought this was strange since he was the "manager" and they were not that busy. Greg led us to believe the deal was on and proceeded to get the financing paperwork in order. I asked about the trade in and Greg said they were inspecting the car. The body and interior were in amazingly great shape even with 180k miles on it. The engine runs very well with the normal 180k mile ticks etc. Based on what I was told from Kyle several times they were only looking to get a maximum of $500 for it at the auction so in my mind the extra $1500 Greg was offering for it was coming off the price of the new car. In either case that was fine with me. 2+ hours went by getting the financing part taken care of (a lot of this delay had to do with my wife's bank) and the trade in car was inspected much earlier and there was no mention of any kind of problem, hold up or deal breaker. Again, we were led to believe the deal was going through as agreed. Our son was getting more excited by the minute and at this point was 100% emotionally invested. Another 30 minutes went by sitting at this table as it was 830 in the evening and none of us had dinner yet. As soon as the financing was 100% and we thought we would be leaving soon, Greg comes to us and says "the trade in car has a bad motor, we will not give you anything for it and we will not take the car in trade". At this point Greg's demeanor had completely changed. He was no longer smiling. His voice was stern, his questions and statements were short, dry and to the point. I asked him some specific questions about the "bad motor" findings and he went to get the mechanic to talk to me. He explained there is a "tick noise" in the engine that is likely wear on the cam shaft. He said you can hear it while the car is in park or neutral if you rev the engine to 4000 RPM. It did not sit well with me that he was out there revving the engine multiple times to 4000 RPM! I said the car is a daily driver and runs great. He simply said because of this noise they can't take the car in trade. I'm thinking the whole time with 180k miles did they think the car's engine would sound like it did when it was new?!? I was disgusted with their apparent attempt to derail the deal we agreed upon. Anyway, I sat back down and recapped with Greg that they were only expecting to get $500 from the car at the auction even if everything checked out fine with it and that we could still get this deal done by taking the $1500 planned loss for the trade in and take that $1500 off the price of the new car. He said no, the trade in car would bring $1500 to $2000 at an auction. (Not enough room to finish)

My experience with Jeff Wyler Eastgate used cars has been extremely disappointing. I have purchased a truck previously from Jeff Wyler Alexandria and had no problems. When that vehicle had warranty issues, I never had a problem with them honoring the warranty so I trusted the Jeff Wyler name. However, I just purchased a vehicle from Jeff Wyler Eastgate and feel compelled to warn potential buyers about their shady practices. I purchased a used Highlander from them. When I purchased the vehicle it was making some noise, but I was told it was just a pully wheel and not to worry. I immediately took the Highlander to Toyota for inspection. I anticipated having to do some minor repairs to the vehicle. However, I learned that the water pump needed to be replaced and the differential was leaking. I had the water pump replaced by Toyota but the leaky differential was covered under the 6 month warranty. When I took it back to Jeff Wyler Eastgate to address this issue they declined the warranty. Initially they said it was not a covered item but I verified with the warranty company that it was. Then they said it was a pre-existing condition so it would not be covered. They acknowledged that they put a vehicle on the lot knowing that it needed major repair. I exchanged multiple emails with them, and while they offered to take the Highlander back, I had already invested over $800 into a water pump that they would not refund. All I wanted them to do was honor their warranty and repair the vehicle that they knowingly put on the lot with a leaky differential. It is a shame when a company as large as Jeff Wyler has no integrity and cannot do the right thing by their customer. I will never buy a vehicle from them again.

Mada a deal on a truck, only to then have them try to buy my trade for 4K under trad in value. Theytried telling me this is all thet seel for, wen they had an identical vehicle with more miles on their lot selling for 4K more than they are telling me they could even try to sell it for.. I guess they still don't realize the Internet exists and consumers actually look at it. The worst for them is I was already a customer (purchased from them just last year) Now they have lost all my business and will never be considered again. Wake up, the car business isn't what it used to be. BTW I bought elsewhere and they offered me the 4K you were trying to stea and I got a better deal on the new vehicle.
  • Took advantage of a 80 year old with a 20 year old

1 out of 5 starsby RNTonya on 10/27/2014

My son bought a truck from the used lot and I can hardly believe how this happened. According to the sales manager- My son with developmental delays saw a truck on the back lot. He was told it was not for sale, it would be wholesaled (auctioned off as unsafe) He pleaded with them"-it's the truck of my dreams" They charged him 20,000$ for a truck with 200k miles! They kept it a extra few day and put "1900$ of my own money into it to make it safe". They passed that cost on at closing. I'm out of state on a business trip. They said they had no idea he had parents, despite the insurance card he presented them has both his parents name on it. He brings in grandma who is 80 and has a check book of his unused college money. They see stars now- By the way grandma is literally in a walker/cane. She gives 1/2 of the money down and he signed a "as is statement". I find out about this mess three days later when he picks me up from the airport in this truck with BALD tires! So much for keeping the truck longer to make it safe! I called the manager, he said at best he could "throw in 1-2 used tires". He said my son told them he is a mechanic and could fix anything. I guess they felt that was convincing, since he works at a landscape company and is only 20! The manager has had 2.5 weeks to call me back about the tires, I've never heard from him again. I imagine there is no point to doing the right thing at this point- they have their money and my son is driving a expensive unsafe truck. I just can't imagine trusting a car sales man again. What a horrible way to take advantage of this young man with Asperger's and his elderly grandma. I guess the sleep like a fat cat every night!

An extremely sexist and rude operation. I purchased a car with my then fiance this past year. Even though the trade in was in my name, I paid a 5 figure downpayment our of my bank account, they decided it would be most appropriate to put it in his name. If we go back and change it now, it will appear that I am the second owner of the car which is not ideal. Even changing the contact info at Mazda has not been successful. Everything goes to him. Mind you I had better credit than him as well. There is absolutely no reason my brand new car should be in anyone else's name but mine. But according to our salesman, "happy wife, happy life." The buying experience itself was terrible as well. It took us 6+ hours, ending an unexpected 3% interest rate when our salesman informed us that the cx-5 was currently offered at 0% and we most certainly qualified for that rate. At midnight when we were signing the final paperwork (arrived at 5:30pm), we were surprised to see 3%. Apparently the salesman was "misinformed" and the 0% was currently offered on the Mazda 6. They quickly adjusted the payments back to what we expected after I started walking out the door. I should have just left. THEN I brought my car into have it serviced. I was 15 minutes late due to one of the polar vortex winter storms. I apologized upon entering for being late, and they rudely corrected me that I was now 18 minutes late and everyone had left. This was at 11am. They said the car would be ready in 30-40 minutes. 1.5 hours later I went to the front desk and it had just pulled up. I regret the fact that I purchased here, although I love my car. I hate that I am locked in for service there or else my warranty is voided. Stay away and if you get a bad vibe from a place, go somewhere else. Especially with a brand new car, you can find the exact same one across town.
  • Bait & switch the price!!!

My Review Of Jeff Wyler Eastgate Auto Mall: I was contacted by Brent M from Jeff Wyler's Eastgate Mazda in Ohio by e-mail after sending in a trade-in request indicating an interest in the Mazda CX-5 at a price of 10K plus my trade, out the door. When he 1st contacted me, I informed him that he was too far away and I had no interest, but he persuaded me in another e-mail to at least consider doing business there. I also provided him with some info about other dealerships I had visited & the amount I had been offered for my trade-in. After about 6 e-mails and a phone call, we worked out a Internet deal for a specific vehicle, Stock # A80802, and how much it would cost, "out the door". (max. of 11500.00 + My 08 Mini Cooper S) For him to consider and value my trade, I had sent quite a few recent pictures of my 08 Mini Cooper S that included every angle, including the engine compartment & wheels. I had informed him that I walked out on an offer of 12800.00 for my car, as it was worth far more in the condition it is in. (NOTE THE USE OF THE WORD "WE") HIS COMMENTS : "Here's where we are: There is a history of transmission issues with the Mini. Obviously we will need to test out the car in order to commit to a firm number. That said, as long as it drives as good as it looks, so to speak we feel like we can get you very close if not all the way to $14000 for your car. But I have to let you know that even if we do that we'll still be about $1000 to $1500 away from your $10000 out the door target including taxes and fees. If you think that's close enough I'd love to help you put this together today. We communicated again, I told him my schedule had been cleared and I intended to be at the dealership at 12:00 on Sunday. I arrived Sunday at 11:30 & checked out the vehicle, then waited until noon to learn that Brent wasn't there. Larry was now the "Salesman" who indicated that Brent was involved in other things and that he would handle the matter. After letting him get caught up and get some info, he drove the car (with me) over to the Used Car Mgr or appraiser, (not sure of the title). That individual drove my MINI for a short ride, indicating that it was a good looking, good performing Mini, and making no inference of any problems. (THERE WERE/ARE NONE) My 2008 Mini Cooper S is a great looking vehicle that has only had me and one other person as the owner. I had recent service (preventative maintenance) replacing the Turbo, Water Pump, belts, friction wheel, spark plugs, and other parts that are known to start having problems after 70K. My Mini had never been broken down or towed in for repairs. This was all conveyed to Brent. I had added a new set of floor mats that I had saved just for when I decided to sell it Sunday morning before leaving. I also cleaned the interior completely to present the best possible appearance before I drove up to Ohio from Louisville Ky. to make the deal. All recalls are up-to-date, and I drove from Louisville Ky to Batavia Oh., in just over 2 hours. Now to the paperwork. As Larry prepared his proposal to take into Mgmt., you know, began to work up the deal, I send in my OK to buy at the difference of 11,000.00, and infer a willingness to go to the extreme end of 11,500.00 that Brent had mentioned. (NOTE: This is already 1500.00 higher than my initial request of 10K out the door, that Brent said he could get me near.) Larry returns shortly and informs me that it will now take 13,500.00 to make the deal. He commented that they only want to give $12,000.00 for my car. (no reason, just decided apparently to drop the price knowing I had driven 2+ hours to get there and was a captive audience), he also made a comment claiming they were losing 1500.00 in making the deal. (I'm thinking, you didn't know this yesterday before sending me the firm offer-right, 1st deal ever right?? Amazing) I offered 11750.00 to them since I had invested so much time to date, and was told the 13,500.00 was firm. My wife was waiting elsewhere for me to return in the new Mazda. (only slightly embarrassing) This was unethical and unfair, similar to a bait & switch, but without switching the product, just raising the price 2,000.00 after committing to a lower price. It may even be illegal, I've got to check with the Ohio Attorney General and a local attorney. I got in my Mini and drove back home with a total investment of over 7.5 hours of my weekend time, and needless fuel/money wasted! There was congested traffic for hours on the way home that day. After not showing up for the appointment and costing me quite a bit of time and a little money, Brent sends me this note! E-MAIL I RECEIVED AFTER MAKING THE LONG TRIP HOME: Just wanted to say thanks for coming in today and letting me help you in your vehicle buying decisions. If I can do anything else for you let me know. (He wasn't even there for the appointment, and he's sending me mail after costing me time and money, not my favorite person right now!) I responded by e-mail in an angry tone, which prompted Tim, one of the Managers there to call me. He called 2 times & I was home the second time the next day and spoke with him. He of course knew that I was angry, and wanted to make it all better. The problem is, he wanted to make it all better if I were willing to pay him more money. Again, unethical behavior from this dealership. Unwilling to honor their commitment! SUMMARY: They made a FIRM offer based upon seeing my car, then found no problems with my Mini. The manager that called, Tim, stated that it was being considered as Excellent, but that they couldn't go higher on the amount. After a lot of conversation, it ends up that he only wants to help himself & the dealership. They could care less that they made a deal and basically lied to me about the price they would pay for my trade. According to Tim, their "Low" offer was the most they would ever pay. Kind of makes me wonder why the made me the offer in the first place. (remember all of the "WE" pointed out above, that was COPIED & PASTED from Brent's e-mail to me. There are honest people in the world, and even in the new car business, but you'll have to search high & low from what I'm seeing. They all want to say that if you run your car through an auction, this is the price you would receive. I wasn't at an auction, I was at a New Car Dealership where they expect Retail & want to act like a guy running a Pawn Shop by trying to take advantage of those that they can, when they can without regard for basic honesty. What a waste of my time and energy. I'll waste some time & energy now by sending postcards (so the info will be readable on the way) with this same info on it to nearby businesses and residences near that zip code. I've committed my own financial resources and my Stamps.com account to spreading the word as best I can. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Especially when dealing with Jeff Wyler & Associated dealerships

We been a regular customer of Jeff Wyler for over 10 yesrs. We have purchased 4 new cars, a used car and an RV. We have always been satisfied with the service. We just purchased the 2013 Chevrolet Spark. I'm am thrilled with it. It drives very nice and gets great gas mileage, and it is so cute. I love the color (Denim). Nicholas B. was the salesman. He was very professionbal, courteous and extremely helpful. He was also very through in showing us all the options on the car. Although we didn't come in to buy. The car just caught my eye as we drove by. I had not seen one like it. I ask my husband if we could stop into see what kind of car it was. Needless to say Nick persuaded me to take it home with me.

After some extremely unsuccessful car shopping excursions, this morning, my parents and I headed to Jeff Wyler Eastgate. I had called to ensure that the fact our missing title for our trade-in wouldn't be a problem. Brad answered the phone and assured me it wouldn't be a problem. When I arrived, my parents had already started working with Chris, and Brad and Chris professionally worked out the confusion. We continued working with Chris and it was a pleasure. I recommend him to anyone buying a car. After several truly nightmarish experiences in looking for a car, I could not have asked for a better experience than this. My parents purchased their vehicle from the same location 2 years ago and also had a great experience. Please shop here and ask for Chris!

I have purchased many cars from Jeff Wyler's over the past 30 yrs. And with each year they get better with the service. I used to take car of all my own repairs but with my age and the new technology I just can't do it any longer and I trust the service team to do the work just like it was their own vehicle and they do that. The prices are fair and the the appointments are always kept and the work has always been done with professionalism. I also have had numerous cars repaired due to deer collisions and the work there has always been exceptional also. Unless something drastic happens I will continue to purchase all my vehicles from Wyler's and will also recommend them to my family and friends and as of right now both of my sons have purchased cars from Wyler's and the customer service just can't be beat. And just as Jeff said years ago when I bought my first car from hi, "Cars like eggs, are cheaper in the country." And I was given a dozen eggs and a tank of gas when I purchased my car. I see a few bad remarks sometimes and if you have a complaint maybe you should see the manager and it would be made right if it was a legitimate complaint. Keep up the good work.
