Dealership Sales Review
My son bought a truck from the used lot and I can hardly believe how this happened. According to the sales manager- My son with developmental delays saw a truck on the back lot. He was told it was not for sale, it would be wholesaled (auctioned off as unsafe) He pleaded with them"-it's the truck of my dreams" They charged him 20,000$ for a truck with 200k miles! They kept it a extra few day and put "1900$ of my own money into it to make it safe". They passed that cost on at closing. I'm out of state on a business trip. They said they had no idea he had parents, despite the insurance card he presented them has both his parents name on it. He brings in grandma who is 80 and has a check book of his unused college money. They see stars now- By the way grandma is literally in a walker/cane. She gives 1/2 of the money down and he signed a "as is statement". I find out about this mess three days later when he picks me up from the airport in this truck with BALD tires! So much for keeping the truck longer to make it safe! I called the manager, he said at best he could "throw in 1-2 used tires". He said my son told them he is a mechanic and could fix anything. I guess they felt that was convincing, since he works at a landscape company and is only 20! The manager has had 2.5 weeks to call me back about the tires, I've never heard from him again. I imagine there is no point to doing the right thing at this point- they have their money and my son is driving a expensive unsafe truck. I just can't imagine trusting a car sales man again. What a horrible way to take advantage of this young man with Asperger's and his elderly grandma. I guess the sleep like a fat cat every night!
