Front brakes
by Uncle_Steve on 07/01/2014I brought my 2010 Ram 1500 with 30k mi. in with a vibration in the front when applying the brakes. The service adviser informed me that to repair the truck new rotors and pad were required. After some back and forth regarding how the… required repairs were determined I moved up to the service manager who contradicted a statement by the service adviser regarding whether it was the dealership's or manufacturer's policy not to "turn" rotors. Also, he was confident given the long service credentials of the service technician that the diagnosis was correct. However he did offer a 10% discount for my trouble. Thus, with less than complete confidence since this is the only place I've taken my truck for service, I went ahead with the repair work. When the work was done, I was informed that the rear brakes needed work (40% pad life remaining) as a vibration was now detected. Upon driving the vehicle myself, I can't believe, given the intensity of the vibration and noise, that I would not have noticed this problem as well. However, I declined to have this work done at Herb Chamber's Dodge and will take my truck somewhere else as my confidence is shaken. Lastly, I have usually received my truck returned washed after service at this dealer, but somehow this service wasn't performed this time. I wonder if my questioning the service adviser and/or technician had anything to do with the omission?Exellent Experience

Jorge Sanchez walked my girlfriend and I through what could have been a complicated process. He took his time to make sure we understood every… step of the purchase. He pushed his team to expedite the process to get us on the road as soon as he could. We at all times felt that he was looking out for our interest. I've been in hotel management for some years. Jorge has great customer service skills. He truely cares about his customers. Anabel Otero, closed the sale for us. She too was a true professional that gave the sale a personal touch. by j_mckenzie on 03/18/2010I purchased my 2006 Dodge Charger from Herb Chambers Dodge in Danvers, MA on 2/15/07. I spent months researching & printed a copy of the window sticker from the Dodge website to keep with my records. When I arrived to look at the car, the… window sticker was missing so I asked the salesman about it. He replied that he didn't know what happened to it or where it was, so I asked the sales manager when we went inside & he too had no idea where the window sticker, which they are required by FTC regulation to display, had gone. I had searched & this was the car I wanted, so I compared the VIN from my copy of the window sticker i obtained from Dodge to the car & it matched, so I was reasonably sure this was the car that I was looking at. The salesman, Mike Lewis, was unable to answer the simplest of questions, like how many speakers it had, whether it included a factory amplifier, what brand of speakers it had & whether it was a 4 speed or 5 speed transmission. He didn't know if it was 4 or 5 speed, but it had auto stick (the 5 speed is the only 1 with that feature, so common sense doesn't run rampant at this dealership). 1 month after buying it, I had a problem with the blower motor that I needed fixed & the salesman & GM acted like they didn't owe me anything, it wasn't their problem & they both even said what do you want me to do about it?Good info on apparent unscrupulous business practices on the part of this dealership but why would you go back to the sales team with a car problem a month after you bought the car? The car was under warranty so you go to the SERVICE DEPARTMENT..
Terrible service experience at Herb Chambers
by j_mckenzie on 03/18/2010I purchased my 2006 Dodge Charger at Herb Chambers on 2/15/07. On 3/15/07, the blower motor stopped working & I couldn't drive my car to them to have it repaired, because it was impossible for me to drive without a working defroster. I… called & the salesman with whom I had dealt in my purchase, which was another hobbible experience, said that I could have it towed by using roadside assistance, because AAA wasn't towing that day due to a snow storm & because they were working to get stuck cars freed. I reminded him that I had an extended service contract, which provides me with a rental any time my car needs service & Mike (the salesman) told me that there was no way they could give me a rental if I wasn't there by noon, because Enterprise closed at 12 & they apparently wouldn't set up my rental before I arrived, so that I would have a car & be able to get to work on Monday. I then spoke with Jim Klimas, the general manager of the dealership, who said the same thing. I then asked him if they could arrange the rental through an Enterprise location near my home, which was much more convenient than traveling 25 miles out of the way & he agreed & promised that he himself would set up the rental for me on Monday. At 12:30 Monday afternoon, I received a call that my car was ready & I could pick it up at the dealership when I wanted. I had to inform the service advisor that their general manager hadn't given me the rental car which I had been promised & to which I was entitled through my service contract & he didn't know what else to say. After a brief conversation, he finally used common sense, which is lacking at this dealership, & agreed to have 1 of their porters give me a ride from Tewksbury, where I work & had managed to find a ride earlier that morning, to Danvers, which is 25 miles away to get my car. Herb Chambers Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge is a disgrace to the Dodge name & if any of their employees read this & wish to contact me, please do so for a discussion.Excellent Experience

Oil Change, forget that...New Car!

My dad purchased his SUV here, and was just having a general, fun conversation with… salesman Seth A. I am a very picky person when it comes to my cars and people I deal with, and I refuse to deal with anyone I do not connect with. Because I was able to get to know Seth before ever beginning any kind of talks of buying a car, I knew I would walk out of there with something I was happy with. So I brought up buying a car and Seth was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Questions were answered and we found the right car for me. Never felt pressured, never was dissatisfied in anyway. Excellent experience buying my new mini van

Was ready to NOT let him walk all over me but that was the last thing he wanted to do. He was so helpful,… knowledgeable and friendly. Was willing to go to my mechanic with me to have the car looked over. Mechanic was so impressed with him and the car he asked for his card. I question Herb Chamber Mission Statement
by bfrost on 05/27/2011updated 06/13/2025I question Herb Chambers Mission Statement. I bought my 2005 Dodge Caravan at Herb Chamber in Danvers and had it serviced there for 5 years. Recently the check engine light came on, so I brought the Caravan in for service. I dropped it off… 9:00AM they had the vehicle all day but stated they fixed the Evap hose cost $59.95. A few days later the check engine light came on, I took it to a local repair shop and they came up with the same code and advised me to bring it back and have them do a smoke test on it. When I call and requested the repairs be corrected I was told a smoke test was already performed which later was found not to have been done. When I brought the vehicle back and the necessary test was done the issue was the gas tank needed to be replaced, cost $1235.00. Two days later the caravan is fixed. That night it is repaired it breaks down on Rt 93 at 9:30PM and is leaking gas with my wife and children in it. Well I have it towed back to the dealership. The next morning I call and unfortunately the tow company dropped it off at the Herb Chamber Chevy dealership across the street and not the Dodge and the service depart requires me to call tow company and have it deliver to correct dealer. After voicing my dissatisfaction I have the tow company deliver it. The dealership agrees to pay for a rental for my inconvenience for one day and the towing after I brought it up. Two hours later they call saying the caravan is fixed. No cost. Now the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty is good till June 2012 but the van has little over 74,000 miles which renders the warranty invalid. Now the service department wants me to believe that their poor service and inability to fix the issue correct the first time is not the problem it is just the wear and tear on the parts. So it must be Dodge quality. A Evap hose takes 9 hours to fix, Gas tank replaced 2 days but leak in gas tank when dealer paying for rental 2 hours. HHHMMM? Which leaves me with: 1) Not buying a Dodge in the future 2) Definitely not buying or servicing any vehicle from Herb ChambersHerb Chambers Davers - Great Experience

I asked about the Dodge Durango, and he handled my initial inquiry and my purchase of the Durango I wanted. He was very professional and also friendly and very helpful and attentive. I couldn't be happier with my experience with Mike and with the dealership. As I had previously stated, EVERYONE made the experience a real pleasure. Now that the good weather is upon us, we decided to remove the hard top and set… the soft top in place. Unfortunately, neither my husband nor I are mechanically inclined or particularly clever. We (and a friend) worked on it for HOURS. I think my husband was ready to kill me! Finally, we called our sales rep Glen C who graciously offered to have me swing in to get some help. I was promptly met by Glen and super-top-installer Seth A. He explained that the top was brand new and that was why it was so tight and reluctant to be cooperative. He also crawled all over that thing and got it on and secured. I am going to revisit Seth with my husband so we can be better versed in soft-top instructions (but we'll NEVER be as good as Seth!)Im so happy to hear Glen and Seth were able to assist you with the soft top. Herb Chambers of Danvers was recommended to us so we made the trip from Dorchester. Mark C. was our sales rep and was outstanding. He worked with us for over a month to… help us find the right car, was incredibly patient, never pushy and very respectful of all the whims of our decision making process. We stuck with this single dealership because Mark was so kind and considerate. He even went out of his way to pick us up at a distant train station! In addition, the GM, Jim K., made us feel welcome and made sure we knew he was available if necessary and business manager, Zac P. was terrifically friendly and put us at east. I have bought allot of cars over the course of my life, and also worked at a dealership… for many years- so I am pretty tough to please. I worked with Seth Anderson throughout the entire sales process, and he was friendly, easy going (not pushy) knowledgeable and professional. As were his colleagues, George Sanchez & Joe DiPietro- whom I also worked with during my purchase. I am a very satisfied customer, I have recommended them to friends and will continue to do so. The entire sales, service and parts team were friendly and informative. I am looking forward to going there for my oil-changes and to buy some accessories for my new Jeep. I am glad that I did not pay attention to the crappy reviews on here- because I did visit this site prior to visiting the dealership- because my sales experience was wonderful. I also wasnt even sure I was going to buy a car the day I stopped by the dealership... I saw the Jeep I wanted, Seth offered me a test drive- with no pressure and a promise not to "harrass me" and that actually put me at ease and got me in the Jeep for the test drive that ultimately led to me falling in love with the Jeep and subsequently buying it. So if you are in the market for a Jeep, or one of their other models- give them a shot- you will not regret it. I got a GREAT deal on my Jeep, and they gave me a very reasonable valued to my trade in. They were also very willing to work with me to make the deal happen. My husband asked a friend who knows a lot about cars to recommend a place to start the process. Without hesitation, he told us to go to Herb Chambers in… Danvers. We played it smart and made an appointment so we wouldn't have to wait around if they were busy (and they were!) I don't think we were the most difficult customers to come through those doors, but I'm sure we weren't the easiest. Glenn C. gave us his undivided attention, and was incredibly thorough with his explanations about the different types of Wrangler vehicles. We drove several Wranglers and even changed our minds more than once. He NEVER showed any sign of frustration or being impatient. He made the whole process seamless and painless. All the staff we interacted with (General Manager, Financial/Credit Manager, etc.) We very professional AND personable. There was no "back-and-forth" on the pricing. They gave us a fair deal on my trade-in and were honest and upfront about the cost of the new vehicle. My husband will be turning in his lease next year and will be buying a car.
