2023 Jeep Cherokee Review

The 2023 Jeep Cherokee is a small two-row crossover SUV. The Cherokee was last redesigned in 2014, making it one of the oldest vehicles in its class. That said, Jeep hasn't let the Cherokee wilt, updating it with new trims, new features and a mild refresh just a few years ago. Last year, the Cherokee benefited from a revised trim lineup and more standard features on some models. For 2023, Jeep pares down the Cherokee lineup even further. The optional V6 engine has been discontinued, and there are just two trim levels: the nearly fully loaded Altitude Lux and the Trailhawk. It's a curious lineup to be sure, as both trims are priced higher than even the top-level trims for other small SUVs.

Some of Edmunds' favorites in this class include the spacious and comfortable Honda CR-V, the sporty Mazda CX-50, and the venerable Toyota RAV4 and Subaru Forester. Outside of the off-road-ready Trailhawk model, the Cherokee doesn't excel at any one area that would put it above its rivals, though that's not to say this Jeep isn't worth a look.

The 2023 Jeep Cherokee is a small SUV that comes in two trim levels: Altitude Lux and Trailhawk. The Altitude Lux uses a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (180 horsepower, 171 lb-ft of torque) while the Trailhawk comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (270 hp, 295 lb-ft).
