2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L

The 2026 Grand Wagoneer L is Jeep's biggest SUV and an upsized version of the regular Grand Wagoneer. It's about a foot longer and has additional cargo space. If you want a big SUV that's upscale but not luxury-priced, the Grand Wagoneer L is what you want. For 2026, Jeep has dramatically cut prices, bringing the base trim well below those of its main rivals. We discuss how Jeep went about this below — there's no such thing as a free lunch, as you know — but overall we think the 2026 Grand Wagoneer is a solid choice for an upscale full-size SUV. This is especially true if you plan on towing. The Grand Wagoneer L has a 9,860-pound maximum towing capacity, which is plenty for most of the trailers or boats you'll likely want to pull.

The big domestic luxury SUVs are the Grand Wagoneer L's primary competitors. The Cadillac Escalade ESV, the Lincoln Navigator L and the GMC Yukon Denali XL all play in this segment. We like the Navigator a lot, but the Escalade is hard to beat for sheer street presence. The other SUV alternatives are smaller but include the BMW X7, Infiniti QX80, Lexus LX and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

A base Grand Wagoneer L now costs about $35,000 less than it did in 2025. Nice, huh? Well, there are a few trade-offs. The elimination of the 540-horsepower six-cylinder engine, which was the only engine offered last year, is the most notable cut to the Grand Wagoneer's standard equipment. In its place is a detuned version that makes 420 hp. It's still pretty powerful, so we don't see this as a big loss. The other major standard feature cut is the adaptive air suspension (it adjusts to improve ride quality and the SUV's ride height), which is now only found on the most expensive trim level. The bottom line here is that Jeep is making a value play, and we think it merits giving the Grand Wagoneer L a closer look.
