The Jeep Renegade is the subcompact SUV you go for if you're looking for something that can drive you around town and take you off-roading as well. It is small and does not offer as much capability as its rugged siblings, but it can definitely tackle trails that its competitors cannot.
The Renegade is a fun and versatile SUV you can easily get along with. Although we admit there isn't anything particularly remarkable about the Renegade, its off-road performance, easy-to-use tech features and affordable price are upsides. As for downsides, the turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine found in every Renegade is a bit sluggish. And compared to its rivals, you do compromise with less cargo space and a more stiff ride quality. If you opt for the Trailhawk trim, which we expect will make a return for 2024, you will get the most competent Renegade available.
There are no signs of a redesign for the 2024 model despite the fact that this particular generation was introduced way back in 2015. Even though some of the Renegade's rivals, like the Volkswagen Taos, the Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Mazda CX-30, are rated higher, we still find this little Jeep engaging.
