DO NOT HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT BIG STAR FORD!!!

by Valor Thomas on 04/16/2022

I brought my vehicle to Big Star Ford because I trusted the expertise that accompanies ford brand, but I was gravely mistaken. I feel like the service team was just shooting in the dark and charging me for their experimentation. I paid over $600 in diagnostic fees and I trusted that a complete diagnosis would be performed, but instead they took that money found some surface level stuff and led me to believe that if I paid the quoted price that my vehicle would be fixed. My original initial estimate was about 5-6K by the time everything was said and done the cost was up to 13K. They kept my vehicle for over a month and when I got it back it was actually in worst condition than when I dropped it off at Big Star Ford. After a month of them having my vehicle, I came to pick it up and before I could drive it off the lot my check engine light was back on, and the vehicle would not go over 50 MPH. I would think that after they made a repair someone would confirm that the repair actually fixed the problem. This obviously did not occur. A week later I came back to pick up my vehicle again and found that now my radio and rear-view camera were no longer working. I requested that someone look at it and I was told that my only option was to leave the vehicle for what I can only assume would be at least another week and a couple thousand more dollars. After being fed up I took my vehicle and left with no radio, no rear view camera, and the with the root cause never being addressed. I paid Big Star Ford over 8K and I feel as though I was taken advantage of. I was baited in with the low estimate and then once I was already locked in and had no other options they started finding things to repair all while never getting to the root cause. This was the worst service experience, and I will do what I can to ensure that they don’t take advantage of anyone else in the same manner that they took advantage of me. DO NOT HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT BIG STAR FORD!!!

Big Start Service 1st Impression Blues

by Frdmywholelife on 08/15/2017

1. Service was not good at time of drop off. The associate who checked me in did not even ask if I had any questions about the service. Nor did he clearly communicate any risks with the vehicle service not being completed on the same day. See point 2. 2. They did not call to inform me that my vehicle was ready to pick up or that it would not be ready. When I realized the time, it was past their service hours so I was out the vehicle for the rest of the weekend and had to make arrangements with my employer to be off on Monday morning to pick up the vehicle. 3. When I went in on Monday it literally took them 15 minutes to find my keys and service reports. Even after I called ahead to verify the vehicle was ready. 4. Upon review of the service report the consultant pointed out that the air filter was flagged as needing to be replaced. Of course it was not replaced because they needed my authorization to replace it. See point 2 again. No calls. I didn't have time to wait around on them to do it on Monday so now I have to do it myself. Not a big deal for me to do knowledge wise but they should have called. I would have told them to replace it. 5. The advantage care service says they top off all fluids. The DEF tank was not topped off. It's less than 1/2 full so I'll be filling it on my own before the next service. Again not a big deal to do but it should have been done. 6. To top off they whole service visit they did a great job of cleaning and washing the vehicle only to leave under their canopy which must be full of birds based on the amount of bird poop all over the vehicle when I finally did got it back. I am fully disappointed in this service visit. I bought a F250 Super Duty from them which is a high dollar vehicle (even when they are pre-owned). I have been a Ford patron my whole life. I have never experienced dealer service this bad. Big Star it is ... one big star for this service visit. I expect better results be time. If not Big Star won't get any other service or purchase business from me.

State Inspection

by kudocrx on 05/07/2011

Two months ago, I took my wife's car in for the state inspection at Southern Ford. I was a little surprised when they called to let me know that it had failed due to the wipers, because they were less than 6 months old. But, I agreed to allow them to replace the blades for $40, rather than hassle to bring it back again. Fast-forward to present, I take my car in to the Southern Ford Dealership for the state inspection. Having learned my lesson, I stop by AutoZone and pick up new windshield wiper blades and exchange them before taking my car to the dealership. As I'm test driving two vehicles with their salesman, the service department calls to say my car has failed because the wiper blades need replaced. Coincidence??? I told the service department manager that I had just exchanged them less than 2 hours ago. He proceeds to show me that the driver-side blade is torn. To me it looks as if, someone pinched the blade and tore the edge for 3 inches. The kicker, the receipt for the new blades is lying on the passenger seat. I grew up on a farm and have been maintaining my own vehicle since I was a kid. I have never had a pair of blades last for less than 2 hours. I will not be doing business of any kind with Southern Ford again.

Take your truck here... if you never want to see it again!!!

by bputch79 on 03/26/2010

I dropped my truck off because of a strange noise it was making and it had no power. This isn't just any truck, this is my work truck. My source of income. They did the diagnostic test and said they knew what it was and it would be ready the next day. Next day, $1800 later, ($1150 in labor alone!!! for one day!! what labor?? don't ask me!) I went to pick it up, didn't even make it 1/2 mile down the road. Brought it back. After much attitude and disrespect, the next day they said it needed a new turbo. 2 days later, $900 more, they claimed it was fixed, so instead of going all the way over there to be disappointed, we had the MANAGER test drive it. He, himself, stated he would be pissed off if it were his truck. The truck had no power at all. So they wanted to continue their guessing game, and took 2 more days to come up with another expensive problem and screw me out of more money. In this time, I went to drive it myself, and it was worse than when I brought it in!!!! I thought someone was playing a joke!! Like the show Overhaulin'!! I wasn't going to leave it there any longer, but the manager told me if this time they couldn't fix it, the mechanic would cover all the parts charges, $700. He wasn't going to screw up this time. ; ) The 3rd time is the charm. This time, after the full week's time of useless labor and parts charges that were completely unneccessary, they found the problem!!! Gee, a diesel mechanic finding the problem on a diesel truck?? Who would have thought!! Someone give this guy, and manager Dan, an award. Total time: 9 days Total Cost: $3,100 Total miles added to the truck while being "worked on": 90 miles (i guess driving it around is quite laborious!) This service crew and service managerial staff, are such a joke. I would be utterly embarrassed to have my customers wait that long and spend that much. I guess its a persons work ethics. Or lack of. Only Southern Ford mechanics and Meteorologists are allowed to be that wrong and still keep their job.
