  • Unethical Service Employees, Incompetent Technicians, Hands-Off Management

    Inexperienced and/or incompetent service technicians that fail to identify safety issues and deceptive sales practices. Since August 2021, I have taken my 2016 WRX in 3 times. The first for a routine oil change and inspection, the 2nd time to correct a loose lug nut that Lithia Reno Subaru failed to torque correctly on the previous visit, as well as to replace rear brake pads which were in fact at 3mm and in the "replace immediately" range despite Lithia Reno Subaru indicating them at 6mm and in the "green" range during the previous visit. On the 3rd visit, I was charged nearly 50% more than first quoted for a 60k mile service due to the service advisor taking it upon himself to recommend services himself that Subaru of America does not recommend. At no point was it indicated these were personal recommendations or Lithia Reno Subaru recommendations, not Subaru of America recommendations. I did not find this out until after the fact from doing my own research. Going to get your car serviced, you need to be able to have peace of mind that your car is in good mechanical condition after getting scheduled maintenance and inspections done. You should also have confidence in the ethics of the service advisors you do business with. In my experience, you won't find either at Lithia Reno Subaru's service department. Following a complaint to Lithia corporate, Lithia Reno Subaru finally reached out to me on January 11th. They offered no resolution and instead offered a generic apology for the inconvenience and stated they believe everything was represented fairly. Moral of the story: Potential customers do not be fooled by any responses by the owner posted by Randy Goldman the GM suggesting he is a problem solver who cares about resolving customer concerns. I can tell you firsthand he is equally unwilling to resolve complaints about his dealership and is hands-off in the process. As a result, he defers to his department managers who evidently condone unethical behavior exhibited by their employees. Save yourself the headache and go to a local automotive shop or Michael Hohl Subaru in Carson City.

    The incompetence is astonishing! I scheduled my service appointment online. then four days Later I called to confirm my appointment and confirm that it could be done in one day and I was told that it could be done in one hour. So, I took the day off work, I showed up to my appointment 20 minutes early and when I was finally helped I was informed that my car cannot be fixed today and they would be happy to reschedule. every time I go there to get my car serviced, they have never been able to do what they promised, in the timeframe they promise.

    I want to personally commend John Drake who always takes care of me when i visit Lithia Subaru, this is also why I have purchased 3 vehicles from this dealership. This particular visit was a last minute decision to have my car serviced and was finished in a fast manner.

    I brought my car in for it's 30k mile service. I was told that it would be 4-5 hours. It was done within 3-3.5 hours! They even gave my family and I a ride to meadowood mall and back. Thank you to Rob in service! Thank you to John for giving us a ride! And Thank you to the staff/mechanics that made this a quick and easy experience!! My car is running so good right now!!!

    I was impressed with my service advisor's attempt to get the car repaired in a short period of time and for less than her estimate. I also was impressed with th shuttle driver that took me to where I was staying.

    My experience at Lithia Subaru was great! I had an Appointment at 10, they were very busy! I was out in 30 min. Free coffee in hand!

    My oil light had come on, so I had to drop in to get checked. Even though it was a very busy day & the service lounge was busy & full of customers, all of the service guys were right there to help you & Randy, the GM, was greeting people, offering refreshments, pleasant conversation & comfortable seating. Very impressed with the level of customer service! I hope it continues after the dust settles with the new construction. I'm also happy that you have reinstated the appt. policy for car services - the 'drop-in' thing didn't seem to be working... The only thing I would suggest for your customer service lounge (& maybe it's already in the making...), are charging stations for mobile devices while waiting.

    We are our very happy with our first service from Subaru - everyone was friendly, we were offered complimentary coffee and bottled water. The wait area was clean.

    The service writer and master tech didn't want to make me wait and fixed the car immediately. Not only that, after the Service writer noticed it, the Master Tech fixed a problem with my door trim I was unaware of, and...at not charge. They really do care. And they should be recognized as exactly what the person that created customer satisfaction as a marketing tool had in mind! They are glowing examples of what Service is all about! David

    I had an appointment for 10:30am and was told my oil change would take an hour and a half . It was 3 hours before my car was ready to go. This was unacceptable.

    Just bought a legacy from the lithia dealership and love the car. The sales person Homero made our experience amazing and will be referring everyone to him. After a couple days of owning the car it had a check engine light issue which turned up to be a Cam timing issue. We were a little upset that this happened on a brand new car but nothings perfect and we understand that. Luckily the car is under warranty for it being new. Unfortunately the service took about a week in a half to finish because they had to order new parts. They gave us a loaner car which was good and their service was very friendly. I'm just happy that we got the car back and it seems to be running good now.

    Exceptional service, Writer Misty from Service Department is very professional and knowledgeable. I wouldn't take my Subaru anywhere else.

    From making the appointment via phone ( your on-line) schedule did not work. The person who took the cal was great and access to service was very easy. I arrived a little early and was taken in the office and helped by Rob. He was friendly and set me up very quickly. Within 30 minutes he came in and told me the car was ready. He also relied my service record i.e. brakes etc.. and i really appreciated that since I rely on Subaru for my records. He walked me to my car and I was off. Solid Experience. Service seem to have improved in the past year and that will be the difference maker when Im ready to make another car purchase. BTW the up front oil change was well worth it when I purchased my Outback.
