  • Fine experience

5 out of 5 starsby jamesmark on 08/20/2008

I have now purchased two Volkswagens from Ourisman VW in Laurel. Both times resulted in pleasant overall experiences. The sales people were courteous and knowledgable. The time it took in both cases were a couple of hours if that (even with bringing in a car from another dealer). Thank you to the team there. I will be back again.

  • Dishonest sales tactics

1.7 out of 5 starsby klookup on 08/12/2008

The key sales manager was not even close to a the fair market value for a 2008 Honda Pilot. He quoted a ridiculous price on a SUV that had sat in the lot for a year. We had asked him for the best price possible and he gave a price that was no where near the competitions price.

  • Rude Sales Manager

    2.3 out of 5 starsby tl2 on 07/31/2008

Overall I will not go there or recommend anyone but maybe my worst of enemies to them. But if you would like to know why.......... Well my wife and I went out looking for a new vehicle for her. So went looking after seeing an ad in the paper to Oursiman Honda here in Laurel Md. After spending about 4 hours testing and comparing vehicles we decided on an 07' CRV and an 05' pilot we were moving into the negotiations. I had decided on a price that I would pay for both cars so of coarse shot lower than my decided price. At first I made no attempt at justifying the price, personally I feel no need to tell people why I will spend as money as I will or won't. After sending the dealer back only once to talk with the manager about my initial offers the manager came out and started off rude and nothing but. Between the talking down to me, cutting me off and being flat out insulting, he told me I knew nothing about the car business and that it was over before he came out. With that said I would like you to keep in mind I did not use direct quotes but know that my wife got up to leave before I did due to the fact she couldn't believe someone would say that to me. The sales managers name was Brian, the dealer was nice though a little disorganized good hearted. During this conversation between myself and the manager he was sitting behind the manager shaking his head in disbelief as well. The prices that I had agreed with my wife on before negotiations for the pilot we had decided on anywhere between $17,500-18,500 and for the CRV $23000-24000..Also with this there was an 05' dodge ram that I am trying to get out from under they offered me 6k I wasn't thrilled but was taking it. Sorry so long but don't want someone to deal with something they shouldn't have to.
    • I completely understand your position with regard to the way you were treated by an employee at this dealership. I am still cannot believe and I am really struggling to accept the way my family and I were spoken to and treated by employees at this place of business. I will make it my business to let everyone know where not to buy a car.

  • Great Experience!!!

5 out of 5 starsby omg on 07/25/2008

Overall, the best car buying experience I have ever had. I called Ourisman with a quote from another dealership looking for a better offer. I told the sales manager, Steve, not to waste my time or gas if he could not do better. We worked out the details over the telephone and I got the deal I wanted (and a few extras without paying any additional costs). When we arrived (me my husband and three children) at the dealership, Steve put us with the perfect sales rep. - JJ. JJ was easy going, knowledgeable, personable and patient - perfect when you are trying to by a car with a 7 y/o, 5 y/o and 18 m/o. With the price set, all I really needed to do was to pick the color (this dealership has a great inventory). While my husband and I waited to see the finance group, the customer service rep, Bianca, helped keep my children entertained. The entire process from start to finish was perfect!

  • Trap making expert and they accept it

    1.3 out of 5 starsby auto_freak2 on 04/04/2008

They will make a trap==> Give you price lower than the CR bottom line. In a nice formated email. You have to trust it because it is written and you can take printout there with you and if they move back you can fight. Once you go there They will tell you they have added accessories to the vehicle and it will cost ( $1695) . Now no matter what you do You have to take these accessories. Accessories are ( Mud gaurds , Door Trim, One nutbolt on each tire with special key) When you say you traveled so much from then they will not hesitate to say have a nice trip back to ..... Vehicle I tried for Email Quote: 26900 ( Sale price) 27902 ( Virginia OTD price) Sale was notcompleted: They were asking for 29000 OTD price in VA. I came back wasted one day and money.

  • Stay away..

I had exactly the same experience as someone described on their review "Deceitful or Incompetent?: You decide" The email offer was not honored when I went to buy the car, and the desk manager called me next day with revised offer at below invoice as shown in kbb.com. When I went to get the car next day they showed me a price list which looked fake and had listed the invoice price over 1K more than KBB. The staff is very laidback and not professional at all, including the desk managers. Take your business somewhere else, The salesman lie through their teeth

I requested an email quote on a 2008 Honda Odyssey from Ourisman Honda of Laurel through Edmunds.com. I received an email quote from Ourisman Internet specialist Ryan Dunn that had a few different charges and discounts listed. At the end of all these, it displayed an “out the door” price of $28,806 for the model with my requested specs. I responded to the email saying I was confused by some of the info in the previous email and that I wanted confirmation that $28,806 was indeed an “out the door” price for the model I was looking for. Mr. Dunn responded that it was the out the door price and that he had the model and the color that we wanted. I then sent another email asking how trade in values were determined. Mr Dunn replied that Ourisman was very competitive in this area and right in line with Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book pricing. Ryan Dunn was not working the day that I went to the dealership but he had arranged for another sales rep and a sales manager to be ready for me to discuss financing and to put a value to my trade in. These gentlemen informed me that Mr. Dunn had made math mistakes on my quote. The actual out the door price was $30,867. I told them there must be some mistake because I had questioned the price when it was given to me and Mr. dunn had confirmed it. They also gave my trade-in a value more than $2000 less than either Edmonds or Kelly’s Blue book gave it in “fair” condition with similar mileage. So now I was being offered a deal over than $4,000 higher than I had been led to believe it would be. Did they mislead me to get me to the dealership or are they just that clueless? My experience is that no one will write down a price to anything without a manager’s approval, so I suspect that it was some kind of bait and switch from the beginning. Don’t despair, I WAS promised 5 free tanks of gas. It should have been 5 tanker trucks full of gas to make up for the time that I wasted with this dealership. Ourisman Honda of Laurel is the kind of dealership that makes people dread buying a car! If you do choose to request a quote from these guys, get the name of the sales manager that approved the price with the stock # of the vehicle that it applies and plan on selling your trade-in yourself. On August 31, 2007, I called Ourisman Honda dealership of Laurel, MD because they were advertising 0% financing on new vehicle sales and I needed to purchase two cars. The sales manager (Steve) told me that I needed to come into the dealership in order for him to explain the details of the deal. I stated that I didn’t have transportation at the moment, but could come in later. He then sends a salesman (Bryan) to come pick me up as I live an hour from the dealership and the dealership is not near public transportation. The sales person states that I will be buying a car from him that day. When I arrive at the dealership, I reject their offer because there is no 0% financing available nor are they offering me the price that they quoted over the telephone. I ask the salesman to take me back home, he says “no, that you will have to take the shuttle and I don't know what time it leaves.” He also accuses me of wasting his time by ‘shucking and jiving.’ He (Bryan) then leaves me sitting there and returns with the sales manager, they both state that they might be able to come up with another offer. They disappear into the sales manager's office for over an hour. As Ourisman Honda is not located near public transportation, I wait because I don't have another ride home. I didn’t’t feel well. Other dealership employees notice this and offer me medication and food because they saw how sick I was. During this time, I receive numerous telephone calls from other dealers such as Pia Glenn of College Park Honda and Mike (Last Name?) of Bowie Honda, but cannot talk to them because Bryan has my phone. My telephone records will attest tot this. When, my phone rings, the salesman notices it from the glass-enclosed sales manager's office; he exits the manager's office and grabs my phone and places it in his desk drawer. He instructs the other dealer staff to keep me off of my phone. I retrieve my phone from his desk. When I leave the dealer showroom, to use my phone in the parking lot, he follows me and intercedes in my telephone conversations. He does this every time I leave the showroom to use the phone. I constantly begged him to take me home b/c I am diabetic and am getting sick. Finally, I buy a car. Before, I leave the dealership, Bryan insists on dancing for me. He executes a wild and spirited dance in the parking lot in front of several customers who appear aghast at his actions. I have been trying to return the car since 9/1/2007. Only after I threatened to contact the Better Business Bureau, did the General Manager, Ed Wheaton return my call. My previous attempts to contact him were unsuccessful as his staff claimed that he was ‘on vacation.’ Mr. Wheaton says that if I return the car, that he will have it impounded. Dennis Rippen, one of the owners of the dealership states that he is not accepting the car back either. Mr. Rippen told me to leave him alone and hung up the phone on me. No-where on my paperwork is there a statement saying that the car cannot be returned, nor is this posted anywhere in the dealership’s offices. Finally, the car did not have a MSRP sticker attached as required by federal law and there is intensive damage to the car which Ourisman has not repaired yet. In addition, the dealership reported incorrect mileage on the car. They reported that the odometer read 19 miles at the time of purchase, when in fact, it read 247 miles. Please contact me so that this matter can be resolved.
  • Great Internet Experience

I had read several of the reviews and decided to give Ourisman Honda a chance to earn my business. Unlike some of the other reviews, I will not give names but I did visit two other Honda dealers. They told me the deal I had from Ourisman was not possible. When I arrived, Rebecca (my salesperson) did everything just like she promised me via email. There were no games and I did take advantage of several of the options. I had bought my last to Hondas in Ellicott City and I will drive to Laurel to get my next Honda. I love my new Accord and everyone I met in the store. Thank you Ourisman.
  • Good sale / poor delivery

4 out of 5 starsby morogan on 08/16/2007

Salesperson was great to work with over phone, internet and in person when ordering my vehicle. Vehicle arrived a few weeks late and with a quarter-sized ding in the trunk lid and a broken air vent fin in the rear. Vehicle looked rushed through prep and had not been thoroughly inspected. Promised a new trunk lid. Later called and told they would not replace the trunk lid. Dealer brought in 3rd party to perform ding repair and he removed the ding but buffed almost the entire rear-facing part of the trunk lid. Repeated attempt to improve the condition did not help. Any glance at the trunk lid in any sunlight reveals significant swirls. Other minor delivery issues were corrected satisfactorily.

Loved my smoothe and easy car purchase experience at Ourisman Honda in Laurel!!! James J. was the most courteous, knowledgable sales person I've ever dealt with at a car dealership! I got the price I wanted to pay on my 2004 Toyota Sienna and feel so blessed to have worked with James J...thank you so much! Debbie L. was also terrific and friendly and helped us close out all the "details" =)

My husband found Ourisman Honda of Laurel yesteday while he was on line helping me look for a used car. I visited the dealership, told the sales person, Erika M., of my financial needs and how much I wanted like to spend. She worked with Chip W. in Sales and Debbie L. in Finance Department and they worked with my budget and credit needs. I feel very blessed to have had a great experience and am enjoying my 2009 Saturn Aura. The car rides nice and is in excellent condition. My husband and I have purchased several cars over the years and the quality of the customer service, care, professionalism, and patience of the staff in making sure I had the BEST deal was amazing. They have a number of lenders with great financing options and most importantly, they do what is best for YOU - not them when it comes to getting you in a quality used vehicle. I am so blessed to have had such an experience buying this car and am sending them thank you cards, TODAY!!! You have to pay it forward and they do that at Ourisman Honda of Laurel. Thank you, Erika, Chip and Debbie (HD Gal)! Tomika

He is very nice and did not trick us at all. His service is the best I ever see in Maryland. I am glad that I have Ramon's help. Thank you again, Ramon and best wish for your future career.
  • Very Very Shady!

VERY VERY SHADY! (PLEASE READ!) My girlfriend recently visited this dealership and was looking at a new Jetta. She test drove the vehicle at several places and decided to e-mail her sales rep for their best price. She was quoted in an e-mail their best "out the door" price and was happy with it. When we went back to Ourisman of Laurel, the salesperson had the correct price but when the sales manager came into the room, he had a brand new set of numbers to show for the final price. His number was several thousand higher than their "out the door" quote was. He immediately began to say that the salesman made a mistake and that he shouldn't have quoted that price. After 10 minutes of running around and asking the salesman questions about how he quoted the car price, the sales manager said he could "almost" give her the internet quote but he would have to include a $345 fee that was overlooked. After discussing this so called "fee" with the sales manager and how the dealership should honor their internet sales price, he wouldn't honor it. My girlfriend was still getting a decent deal but if it was me, I would have been out the door. Second part of the story....When we went into the finance office to complete the deal, the finance officer - Joe, spent about 30 minutes looking up her credit score and was "crunching the numbers" He finally began to break down her car payments and they were much higher than she anticipated. It turns out Joe was giving her a finance rate of 5.9% with a credit score of 750! Volkswagen is running a special incentive of 1.9% if you qualify and with a credit score of 750, she definitely qualified. When asked about this special rate, he acted as if this was news to him and hadn't heard of this offer. He starts to type away on his computer again and says he can honor the 1.9% rate and that it must be a new incentive. (It wasn't it was being offered for several weeks before she began looking) This dealership is completely shady and I would recommend staying far away as possible! I would never buy a vehicle from this dealership.

Recently I visited the Ourisman Automotive Group in Laurel, MD with my college-age son and had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Anthony D. He was informative, pleasant and patient. (he answered a million questions) and never once became frustrated. He showed us around and we test drove 2 different vehicles. After my son made his decision he stayed with us and helped us with all the paperwork and even gave my son some good advice. Mr. D is such a wonderful man and Ourisman is very lucky to have him. He truly wants you to be happy, he's just not trying to "sell" you a car. Overall my son is happy and so am I. Thanks Mr. D and Ourisman.
