  • Smooth Car Buying Experience

    4 out of 5 starsby D_Pro on 07/25/2014

I bought my 2014 Highlander here based on an Edmunds Price Promise certificate that beat out all the other dealers. Jonathan Y. from sales really impressed me with his responsiveness via email and candor when I arrived at the dealer. He had everything lined up to make my experience as smooth as possible. Jonathan really loves and knows Toyotas, and even volunteered more handy tips about my car than I could ever get from the manuals alone! His assistance made me confident it was the right time and place to buy my car. Although I got outstanding service and support from the sales team, I really wish I could say the same about the finance team. The finance manager I dealt with was fairly rude and unapologetic, leaving me to assume it's because I got such a fantastic deal on my car. That said, when it comes to a customer signing papers, a little consideration goes a long way. Regardless of that hiccup, it didn't stop me from completing my purchase and driving away a happy camper!
  • Purchase of a new Toyota XLE 2014 Highlander

    5 out of 5 starsby Xman116 on 07/12/2014

Okay i'll make this simple. Basically I requested a new car with certain trimmings. Karen B. who had been in contact with me for a few months was not only knowledgable however very helpful with purchasing the car. Furthermore Jordan H. also walked me through the accessories and how to use the car and what I could exactly do with the car. Jordan walked me through every bit of that car and furthermore gave me tips and pointers if I had any problems besides just calling the dealership since I like to learn things for myself to an extent. Eventually when I need to purchase another car, this WILL be the dealership that I go to. Couldn't be happier with the car nor could my family as it fits all our needs to the max. Thanks again Karen and Jordan.
    • Thank you for your kind words and review. We are glad to have helped you find the right car at the right price, and we hope you're enjoying the new car!

  • Thank you Bobby S.

    5 out of 5 starsby carbuyer240 on 06/27/2014

I'm a numbers guy when buying or leasing a car. There are certain numbers I need to have clearly stated so I can determine if the deal I'm getting is actually the deal I'm looking for. Bobby provided all the information I needed clearly and immediately. No games. Everything Bobby said and provided was accurate and matched well with all other online resources like Kelly Blue Book etc. All the other sales dealers gave me a song and dance and confusing calculations and never answered my basic questions other than saying I'm getting a great deal which was never the case while they killed a lot of my time going back and forth with their finance person getting more confusing numbers and calculations. Happily, this was not the case at Auto Nation!!!!! :-) Bobby explained the workings of the car, made sure was serviced, washed, full tank and ready to go. That's service I miss seeing with other car dealers. Also, thank you to Bobby for coming in on his day off and spending three hours with me to make sure I was able to drive off with the car that day. Much appreciated!

Personally thanks to William F. who is a great sale man at the store, and he helps me a lot with my limitation of the budget and cares about his clients very much. Also, we had a price deal by calls/emails and finished the entire purchasing process (including test drive) within 2 hours, which saves lots of time! If you ever consider this store to purchase a car, remember to ask William for help!

Fleet Managers-- Karen and Manny made this simple and clear. Karen kept me posted as necessary about the incoming vehicle/color I wanted. No surprises--pricing, timing, and delivery was exact. Would have gone to Toyota in San Juan where we live, but they didn't keep in contact. Too bad.
  • Power Toyota Irvine - Not Bad

3.8 out of 5 starsby bernalc on 06/15/2009

I have purchased a vehicle on 6/13/2009 with the Fleet Internet Department. The Internet Fleet Manager Carl Leung was very nice, non pushy and very helpful. I have been to this dealership before and have pushy sales people pressuring me to buy a car. I was here 2 weeks ago and walked in and some of the previous comments are true!! Pushy... Non professional... everything was do now buy now... you know that feeling. So I went home and applied on Edmunds.com. I was looking for the best deal and Carl had beat the TMV quote that was posted here. Once I agree to a price over the phone (which Carl e-mailed me a full listing Out the Door price) I felt nervous but comfortable in buying my vehicle. The transaction took less than 1 hour and a half. I did not haggle since Carl already disclosed the price via e-mail. I have received quotes that were $100-$300 lower than Carl, but I think that $100-$300 difference was made up with the excellent service. Today (Monday) I received a call from Carl congratulating me and I was please with his service. My advise... Ask for the Fleet Department. The Sales people they have are [violative content deleted] and all they want is your money.
  • Pushy Power Toyota

    1 out of 5 starsby s_smith on 06/05/2009

I went to Power Toyota in Irvine to "look" at the new '10 Prius. The sales guy understood I came to look and wasn't planning on buying. They didn't have any in the lot so he went to check the availability at the front desk and next thing I know a pushy front desk manager comes out with him wanting me to sit down (he sat down first) and talk about which options I wanted. I told him I wanted to look at the car first, but rather than telling me when more cars will become available he told the sales guy to take me out to the lot and look for a non-existent Prius. Looks like I'm taking my business to elsewhere.
  • My Bad experience with Power Toyota of Irvine

2.2 out of 5 starsby Sevugan on 01/12/2009

I have a Toyota Corolla 2009, staying in Orange County. I took my Car for the 10,000 Miles service to Power Toyota of Irvine. I was shown a plan for $98.99 which covers all kinds of checks for 10000 miles. I had 2 additional issues, as 1) Vehicle Acceleration at higher speeds, is not switching to higher gear ratios, for a smoother drive. 2) Car, is not having a good pickup at lower gears. The Dealer took 1.5 Hrs to do all the test where they claim they did driving test, all fluid levels top up etc. These were the worse part... (all) 1) They had damaged, my car engine hood, where paint was chiped in 3 locations , possibly due to some tools used during service. (Careless handling) 2) Break fluid and other basic fluids not topped up properly. 3) Disk Break dust not cleaned properly in the front wheels. 4) Instead of 30 psi on all 4 tires, they have set 40 psi on each tyre. 5) When I gave the car for service, the only issue was, the 2 which ive mentioned at the top. But after the service, they added one more which made me pannic when i was driving on Interstate - 5(I-6) at 65miles/hr. A constant rubbing sound, a high frequency sound from the front. As soon as I press the breaks it goes off. Power Toyota, did not resolve the 2 issues i mentioned at the top. But introduced one more, and damaged my Car's Engine Hood by chippping off the paint. Service Men, Joseph , after all his mistakes, talks as if I am guilty of some wrong doing, when I talk about the wrong pressure setup for my car wheels as 40 psi. Service Manager, hates to walk out, and solve the problem of a customer(sitting inside, at morning 7:30 AM, when a customer has walked in with all these issues, which she is aware of). Customer Relations manager, spoke to me once, and told will talk to Both the service men and service manager and get back, but did not turn up at all. They have spoilt my weekend. They damaged my car. Introduced new problems. Took my car, in the name of fixing the problem, and have asked 3 to 4 more day, for fixing the problems they created and introduced to me and to my car. I have lost hope on my car, if it is any more a good car / or a good company. They say, I have to stay with what ever car I am given as a replacement for 3 to 4 days for rent. They have held my $50 in addition to all this nonsence , as a car rental hold, and have given me the worst of all, Chevy Cobalt. Also $8.99 every day, towards the Insurance which Enterprise (their rental service provider, wants me to take, as the dealer will not pay for it) I, mean, the dealer will not pay for what ever the problem they caused. Does your dealer mean, Chevy Cobalt is better than my Car which was running fine before I got it to them? All the only mistake I think i did was, I took it for a service at 10,000 Miles, to end up in this mess. I am very upset and the reason : 1) My week end was spoilt 2) I have taken the risk of driving the uncomfortable Chevy Cobalt 3) No Proper response from the delership who caused all this problem, i would say, its a disrespect for any customer who has gone through so much. 4) Spoiling my week 5) I have paid $98.99 + $50 (in hold) + $8.99 a day(till they give my car back from service). And all this amount, for none of my mistake. 6) The Careless sevice man, says that, since the service was completed ( it was completed with lot of faults to cause all this mess in my car), that they cannot even hold the payment of $98.99 dollars. But they will charge me, as it was done as per records. I am loosing money every day.. and is this what toyota wants to support? Please help me and get me out of this mess.

I went in to look at a camry at this dealership and I did not feel I was given a through run down on the car I was interested to buy. The salesperson was not very interested in giving me the details and was not even aware of the financing rates.
  • A Painless Process

    4.5 out of 5 starsby commuter58 on 08/31/2008

I was impressed with the 2007 Camrys when they first came out late 2006. So I thought why not get one. I started shopping around by e-mailing the dealerships in the area. I got several responses and one of them was from Ken Banfield of this dealership. We exchange e-mails a couple of times to ascertain what I wanted and its availability, and to agree on the price. So when he informed me that he had what I was looking for, I went, checked the car, did a test drive, and closed the deal right away. It was as painless as can be. No haggling while in the dealership. No going back and forth by the salesman trying to get the approval of a "higher-up" and the "higher-up" employing the "good cop, bad cop" strategy. It can be a harrowing experience but this one was not.

Went to this dealership in September of 2007, was helping a friend, a single mother, who wanted to buy a new Corolla. As soon as we were introduced to our salesman, the first words he spouted were, "What can I do to get you in a car today?" What do these salesmen think when they use lines like this? So, I told the salesman, "Sell us the car we want for half price." Man, did I get a dirty look, and I knew where I stood with the salesman. I guess he never expected someone to take him seriously. Let me tell you about this dealership. They are so predatory towards women, if not to all potential customers. Seems that Power Toyota Salesmen try to use a strategy known as DIVIDE AND CONQUER. If you go there, the salesmen will try to separate the potential vehicle purchaser from the rest of the party, just to try to force a deal to happen. It gets even better. My associate and I went out to the car lot, to look at the inventory of new Corollas. A 2nd salesman was called out to the car lot, came out, and was showing me their inventory of new Corollas. Then the original salesman tried to show my associate used cars. SM #1 tried to make a deal with her on a used car, while I was occupied with SM #2. As I was surveying their inventory of new Corollas with SM #2, Mr. "What can I do" was trying to sell my associate a used 2006 Corolla, base model, with roll up windows, that had 15,000 miles on it for way too much money. Then, SM #1 tried to sell her other used cars that she had no interest in purchasing. It seems that many car salesmen think they can pressure potential customers into buying whatever they want to sell. Doesn't work all the time. My associate finally let SM #1 have it, and told him again, that she was only interested in a new Corolla, and nothing else. She told SM #1 very directly, that if he was not going to help her with purchasing what she wanted, she would go elsewhere. Finally, SM #1 realized he wasn't messing with an pushover, and we found the car we wanted. It gets better, read on. We had the Consumer Reports pricing with us, and we put in an offer. Since 2007 was the last year of this model Corolla, we figured that they would be willing to work with us. Yeah, they dropped the price down, not as much as we wanted but it was a good deal. The only issue was the financing. My associate applied for financing with Toyota at the dealership after we found her the right car. She had good credit and a good job. Financing should be no problem. Her FICO score was just above 650 - So, what's the problem? Power Toyota Finance was the problem. The salesman walked up to us, and let us know the monthly payments would be - after she was approved, and it was outrageous: $427 per month for a 5 year loan - for a total payout of $25,620 - This is for a $17,500 car? And that was with $2,000 trade-in. The Salesman acted like he was doing us a favor. Obviously, Power Toyota felt they needed to make up for the negotiated price reduction and increase the profit on the car by increasing the interest rate. It gets even better ----- We asked Mr. "What can I do" what interest rate the loan was, he told us it was about 10%. There was no way this was even close to 10%. I walked up to the finance people, and demanded to know the correct interest rate, or else we were walking. I told them that the salesman was lying through his teeth. Finally, I was told by 1 of the finance reps, who was rolling his eyes at me, that the actual interest rate was 17%! How dare we find out what the correct interest rate is, THE NERVE!!! As we walked out of the dealership, I told the salesman #1, that we don't like being lied to, AND - I told him that what he did, made sure that we wouldn't buy a car from him today - or ever. My associate got a much better loan rate at another Toyota dealership that same day, under 8%, and bought her new Corolla elsewhere. I realize Toyota is a good car, and I realize that de

Went in one weekend and an asian guy walked us over to sit my brother and I down. I believe he assumed that we were young and weren't going to buy, so he just said "sorry you have to make an appointment on weekends" and that was it. I didn't understand why he didn't just tell us when we were there at the frontdesk, probably because he didn't want others to hear. Next weekend, we went again and dealt with a pushy salesman who tried to sell us a year old, 6,000 mile fully loaded Camry SE for $30K before taxes and fees! Not only was carpet on side coming out, but it had scratches on it. Anyways, we continued to look for cars and he told me not once, but twice that the price I wanted to get the car for was crazy and that I was "looking at the wrong car". Afterwards, i did quotes online and received quotes $5,000 below what he wanted. [violative content deleted] I would NOT recommend them or even bother to give them my money.

I went to this dealership to test drive an MR2, which I was considering for purchase. The sales guy was laying on me hard from the very beginning, with all sorts of very cheesy and ridiculous pick up lines. He took me out to the lot, had me wonder around for a few minutes then took me to a Honda S2000 which was priced 10K more than what I was looking to spend on an MR2. He wanted me to drive this instead of an MR2. Seeing as I had never driven an S2k I decided to take it out for a spin. The sales person was a total [violative content deleted] who knew NOTHING about the car. He didn't know how to drive it and said the most ridiculous and incorrect things about the vehicle. You might argue that it was a Honda and he was a Toyota sales person, however he bragged to me about coming from a Honda dealership. He couldn't even find the start button! He was about to call someone over to jump the car when I figured out how to start it. He also tried to tell me that the car was built for straight line speed and wasn't really a track car. What a [violative content deleted]! After I returned to the dealership I told him that I still wanted to look at an MR2. At that point he brought me inside to "check the inventory" okay, why didn't he do that in the first place? After he found out (big surprise) that they didn't have an MR2s on lot he brought his manager over and tried to sell me the S2000! At this point I was pretty upset, I reminded him that I was here for the MR2 and that was the car I wanted to drive and my price range was NOT that of the S2K. THe sales guy got pretty mad at this point and told me that if I wanted to buy an MR2 they could bring one in for me tomorrow. I asked him why I'd want to buy a car I'd never test driven? Soon after that I left. I ended up calling the dealership the next day and complaining to the manager about the salesman, that's how unsatisfied I was with my service. I'll never buy a car from a Power dealership because of my experience there.

Bought a new 2013 prius from these guys, was a pretty good deal, what i liked was they gave me no [non-permissible content removed] from them like come in and we can negotiate price etc, they gave me a pretty good price out the door. They don't waste your time. My suggestion is do your research come up with a target figure(you are willing to pay) and then email these guys if they can meet your target price. They will tell you yes or no straight off. They usually don't harass with unnecessary phone calls emails etc. Well at-least that was my experience. Would have given them 5 stars had they given upfront good apr rates - in my experience it was better to go to an out side bank for financing.
    • We are happy you had a pleasant experience at our dealership. Feel free to stop by if you need any assistance in the future!

I purchased my new RAV4 through my Schools First FCU car buying service. It was quick and easy since they discount the vehicle already for you and you get no payments the first 3 months! There was no hassle of trying to negotiate a lesser price. That is all done for you. My salesman was Ali E. He was very thorough in explaining the vehicle and handled all the paperwork. In fact if you know exactly what you want they can have the vehicle ready for you along with all the paperwork ready. I probably could have gotten in and out in less than an hour if I knew what I wanted. Your salesman at Autonation will be there to answer any questions even after you leave the lot and for the life of the vehicle. The experience was not as daunting as I thought it was going to be, but that's what this car buying service is all about. To help you get a lower price, make you feel comfortable, and give you peace of mind when you drive off the lot. I recommend using Autonation Toyota. They have a wonderful staff and will treat you right.
    • Mike, we are pleased to hear of your experience with Ali. Customer service and professionalism is of great importance to us, and we are happy you were well taken care of in your dealings at AutoNation Toyota Scion Irvine.
