  • Don't get repairs here

1 out of 5 starsby Illidan on 05/16/2025

I truly feel taken advantage of. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and have purchased three cars from this dealership. Yesterday, I was told I needed a thermostat replacement. Trusting the team, I approved the charges without knowing the full extent of the work. The job was completed in under two hours, yet I was billed over $1,000 in labor alone—amounting to more than $500 per hour. It’s incredibly disappointing to see loyalty mean so little. I had every intention of continuing to buy and service my vehicles here for years to come. Unfortunately, this experience has completely eroded that trust. I hope the inflated labor charge was worth losing a lifelong customer.
    • Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Illidan. We understand your concerns regarding the thermostat replacement and the charges incurred. Your loyalty over the years is genuinely valued at Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet, and it’s disheartening to hear that your trust has been affected. We strive for transparency and fairness in our pricing, and your feedback will help us improve. If you'd like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to reach out directly. I had a good experience with them. They did what I needed them to do, provided a shuttle and were very helpful.

  • Bad attitudes

    1 out of 5 starsby unhappy1 on 06/18/2018

I called to find out the part number for a Camshaft Position Actuator (getting DTC code P0013, which means ONLY that the actuator is failing) and was hassled to bring the car in for a diagnostic, which is utterly unnecessary. I just needed to find out if "bank 1" was the intake, or exhaust, so I could get the right part. I had planned to buy the damned part from them, so lying to me and telling me that I would have to take it in for "additional diagnostics" is just being greedy. I spoke with Randy (Service Manager) and the General Manager (Clay Lyon). Randy simply couldn't get his mind past the fact I was asking which part was bank 1, and insisted it was diagnostic information I was after (my question is the equivalent of asking which spark plug the ECM claims is failing based on an already obtained DTC code...it's not diagnostic information). When I spoke to Clay, the man was an extraordinary ass! Clay was antagonistic, intentionally rude and condescending, and also claimed I was asking for my vehicle to be diagnosed for free...WHICH I'M NOT -- I ALREADY KNOW WHAT THE GOD DAMNED PROBLEM IS!!! I wasn't asking for anything for free...just the information I am entitled to, and the dealership is required to provide (they may charge a simple and reasonable fee, but must provide the information since they are the licensed representative of the manufacturer. See https://www.autocare.org/workarea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=1440&gmssopc=1). US courts have consistently re-affirmed the consumer right-to-repair, and these guys just think they're above the law. Simply put...Randy and Clay acted like total [non-permissible content removed] over an issue where someone wanted to buy a part from them, and simply needed to know the right part number based on a DTC code obtained through GM onboard diagnostics that would render no different information if they hooked up a Tech2 tool. They decided to risk a terrible review, simply because they wanted to play like they're wearing the big britches in the room. Congratulations, Randy and Clay. I'm going to buy from a different brand. GM dealers are the absolute worst. FWIW - this USED to be a beaming, five-star review.

  • Service Department - Not worth your time

2 out of 5 starsby StacyLap on 01/22/2018

I have had he best experience purchasing vehicles from Gus Paulos, but there service department is one of the worst I have experienced. We recently had our 2014 Suburban in on 2 different occasions. Both times the issues was not fixed, but yet we ended up paying for what they did to "fix" the problem. We ended up with another appointment and more money spent the 2nd time around to fix the issue we took it in for the first time. Terrible customer service and no communication.

  • Terrible Customer Service on follow up.

1 out of 5 starsby crandrews on 09/13/2016

The initial work was done to satisfaction, but I have never been more disappointed in an overall customer service experience. I have been a loyal customer for the past two years after I purchased my vehicle here. I recently brought it in for some service and once I got my car back, I noticed a three foot scratch among a number of other scratches in the area and a dent that pushed out some paneling in the back. I understand my car is 9 years old and has a lot of wear and tear, but I know my car and to have the service manager flat out deny that they could have possibly done it and offer me absolutely no resolution is ridiculous. I will state clearly that the service manager has cost you a customer and I will never buy another car or have my car serviced here again.
    • This doesn't make sense. Why would a Dealership do this to your car? Did they try to sell you body work or something?

  • Professional Service

    5 out of 5 starsby NanRN2012 on 08/20/2016

Very professional. The service department service writers took the time to evaluate my issue, which was that my middle driver side seat would not fully go back into place. The back of the seat was stuck and I could not but it back into position after I had put the seat down to take some items to a friend out of town. The service writers and the Technician solved the issue with little time and expense. I am so appreciative that the seat works great.
