Dealership Service Review
I called to find out the part number for a Camshaft Position Actuator (getting DTC code P0013, which means ONLY that the actuator is failing) and was hassled to bring the car in for a diagnostic, which is utterly unnecessary. I just needed to find out if "bank 1" was the intake, or exhaust, so I could get the right part. I had planned to buy the damned part from them, so lying to me and telling me that I would have to take it in for "additional diagnostics" is just being greedy. I spoke with Randy (Service Manager) and the General Manager (Clay Lyon). Randy simply couldn't get his mind past the fact I was asking which part was bank 1, and insisted it was diagnostic information I was after (my question is the equivalent of asking which spark plug the ECM claims is failing based on an already obtained DTC code...it's not diagnostic information). When I spoke to Clay, the man was an extraordinary ass! Clay was antagonistic, intentionally rude and condescending, and also claimed I was asking for my vehicle to be diagnosed for free...WHICH I'M NOT -- I ALREADY KNOW WHAT THE GOD DAMNED PROBLEM IS!!! I wasn't asking for anything for free...just the information I am entitled to, and the dealership is required to provide (they may charge a simple and reasonable fee, but must provide the information since they are the licensed representative of the manufacturer. See https://www.autocare.org/workarea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=1440&gmssopc=1). US courts have consistently re-affirmed the consumer right-to-repair, and these guys just think they're above the law. Simply put...Randy and Clay acted like total [non-permissible content removed] over an issue where someone wanted to buy a part from them, and simply needed to know the right part number based on a DTC code obtained through GM onboard diagnostics that would render no different information if they hooked up a Tech2 tool. They decided to risk a terrible review, simply because they wanted to play like they're wearing the big britches in the room. Congratulations, Randy and Clay. I'm going to buy from a different brand. GM dealers are the absolute worst. FWIW - this USED to be a beaming, five-star review.
