The Best Place to Buy a Honda in South Texas
by mlardizabal on 10/05/2008We've been meaning to buy a 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L for quite sometime now. I sent out requests via www.carsdirect.com to get the best quotes from all car dearlerships within a hundred mile radius from Pearland. I've received a lot of… responses but most of them we're typical high-pressure pitches coupled with their not-so low price quotes (despite their claims of being otherwise). One dealership that caught my attention was Gillman Honda of Fort Bend more popularly known as Rosenberg Honda. For starters, I got a quote that stated the OTD (out-the-door) price while all of the others had a fine print that TTL (tax, tags and licenses) were not included with quote. Second, the OTD price was very close to the other quoted prices that didn't include the TTL. To me that said a lot. I just had to put them on my short list. Just before Hurricane Ike came, I sent out feelers to my short listed dealers to see if they can lower down some more. I wasn't expecting an immediate an response specially with the looming hurricane and all. But days after Hurricane Ike passed, all of my short listed dealerships except Rosenberg Honda, started calling up and e-mailing to pressure me into buying their vans. I was so upset that I just crossed them all out. After mending the fixes on my property and I was curious why Rosenberg Honda didn't contact me at all. So I sent an e-mail to inquire if the quote I got a couple of weeks back was still valid. They said yes and with a couple more exchanges and haggling over nitty gritty stuff, I finally drove to the dealership to close the deal. On the day of the pickup, I finally met the internet sales consultant that I was exchanging e-mails with. His name is Bill Cockerell. And I must say he is an OUTSTANDING fellow. I was so used to talking to deceitful and overbearing sales people, that talking to Bill seemed a bit awkward. The last time I ever experienced this kind of extremely good salesmanship was at a Saturn Dealership (but that's another story). Anyhow, we test drove the van, he explained the new features of the EX-L (like that awesome rear-view camera mirror) and the other extra bundles that the Odyssey 08 had. All along being friendly, courteous and honest. I also had the pleasure in dealing with their finance guy I forgot his name but he too was outstanding. He laid out all the pricing options, he explained the pros and cons of each. And how much down payment would affect how much interest I got and so on. He even helped me get a better rate for my loan compared to my own bank's. If I didn't like an option I just said so and that was the end of it. No pressure, no bull-crap, no lies. I was in disbelief, normally this was the most dreaded part of the buying experience (to me at least). But I was happy. It even felt like that I won something. Weird huh?! And that's not all, after signing the papers I was given the van keys, Bill did another pre-delivery inspection and found a dent at the tail gate. I was so happy with the whole buying experience that I was willing to let it go and just do a paint touch up instead. But NO!, Bill said it wasn't up to their standards, he wanted to fix it the right way. So we arranged a service date, I got a loaner car and it went smoothly as expected. Now, I'm one of the many extremely happy 2008 Honda Odyssey drivers who bought a car from Rosenberg Honda. Special shout-out to Rhonda Kirkland, Rosenberg Honda's Excell Manager, not sure what that title means. But she knows how to handle customers properly, if you have any issues just give her a call and she will sort it out. Overall, I will definitely buy another car again from Rosenberg Honda aka Gillman Honda of Fort Bent. It maybe a bit far from Downtown Houston but it is well worth the drive.terrific salesman
by cbrunson1 on 07/27/2007I found Gillman Fort Bend through an internet reference and requested a price on a Pilot. Bill Cockerell responded promptly and gave me a great price. The particular combination of interior and exterior color and features that we wanted are… fairly uncommon (apparently) but Bill didn't try to switch us to something else, he began searching for what we wanted. It took several days to find and transfer, but he found exactly what we wanted and we couldn't be happier. Bill is a great guy, friendly and courteous, and he gave me daily updates on where we were in our car search. It's a little bit of a drive from Houston, but the dealership is clean and uncluttered, the people are as polite and friendly as you might hope for in a smaller town, and the drive is pleasant in a new Honda. The vehicle was ready to be delivered when it was promised and Bill made the transaction very comfortable. Talking to Bill is like talking to a neighbor (that you like). I hope that the service department is as good when I have the oil changed, etc. Even though I'll drive by one or two other Honda dealerships to get there, I hope to have my service done by Gillman Fort Bend and hope to buy there from Bill again.Good experience
by mashbh on 08/14/2013updated 06/06/2025I went to buy Honda CRV here. The sales person was 'Clay K'. He was hones, courteous and professional. I already a got a good quote from the internet. So I went with that quote and after some bargaining they further reduced the price and… gave me the vehicle. I think the manager name is "Nick". He was also very professional and gave me a good price for the vehicle.Horrible Dealer, Stay Away and Save Time
by naazim on 12/28/2013updated 06/06/2025Had a really bad experience here. They kept switching numbers and trying to confuse me. To make things worse they didn't even have the Accord in stock. They play all the old dealer games and it pissed me off. I blow up on everyone there… including [non-permissible content removed] the manager. This place is a joke and they have no respect for you or your time. Super sneaky. Don't believe a word they say, and get everything in writing. I would not recommend them to anyone. Also the other Gillman dealer out near Southwest freeway and beltway 8 is even worse then this dealership. I have made up my mind that I will never shop at a Gillman dealer ever in my life and stop others from shopping here too, as its a waste of your time, and time is money.Bait and Switch Scam
by Boringlife247 on 08/02/2013updated 06/06/2025I arrived at the dealership with a signed copy and an email from their internet manager, Carlos G. only to be informed that the dealership could not honor Carlos' deal because he made a mistake. Here is how the bait and switch scammed… happened: They Baited me by promising IN WRITING and provided me with a Signature, a very attractive price for a Honda Accord 2013 EX Coupe, FREE locator service, mud guards, wheel locks, tinted windows, and trunk trays. They had one sitting in the holding lot. When I arrived ready to pay, they SWITCHED the entire deal and car. The person that was handling my case was out "sick" for the day and I was tossed from one manager to the next. I sat through 7 hours of debating with them and I even showed them the SIGNED copy of the agreement and EMAIL agreement their internet MANAGER committed too. If you cannot honor your own employees signature, even if he was wrong, than you are NOT trustworthy and reliable. They made me, a CUSTOMER suffer for their inability to train their managers. The ONLY reason why I brought the car was the attractive price and overall package. I had at this point already missed 3 hours of work and what was suppose to be a quick and easy deal turned out to be the WORST experience of my car buying history. (This is my 5th car within 6 years). I cannot even believe they call themselves a Honda dealership because this place and their manager showed me NO customer service and did NOT honor anything. I would never wish this experience on anyone. When I was there, I also heard the manager do the "this is the end of the month sale only, today only for this price, if I can make your monthly payments this low for a 72 month lease vs a 60 month lease would you buy today, I cannot pay my bills if I don't see you this car today, and I cannot pay my rent the price you are asking is so low, and I have to check with my manager (good cop, bad cop)" He said that all to one customer. RUN. Thankfully I had a very good person there with me to help me, a company called From Car to Finish, owner is Mike, R. If you buy from this place without From Car to Finish get ready to get scammed and be ready to show them signatures and documents that mean nothing to anyone at the dealership.Fantastic place to buy a car.
by ladyred2005 on 11/28/2012updated 06/06/2025My experience with this dealer was fantastic. The owner, Chris G., sent me to his Fort Bend dealership for help finding an affordable Honda Pilot. I got everything I wanted in this car and more, and the service was excellent. They made me a… fantastic deal, and Phil, the man in charge of finance bent over backwards to make sure my car payments were affordable. That's hard to do, as I'm a teacher and don't make much money. Priscilla, the sales representative with whom I worked and Louis, the General Manager, were waiting for me at the door when I showed up, having already been told I was coming, and were nothing but polite and straightforward with me when I had questions. I went in to choose the car on a Monday, and picked it up the next day. Priscilla even helped me to install my car seat! :-) The car itself is phenomenal, and has all the bells and whistles I could possibly need on it. I feel safe in it, and I feel safe driving my kids around in it. I could not be more pleased with the service or the product I received.
