Gillman Honda of Fort Bend
Dealership Sales Review
We've been meaning to buy a 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L for quite sometime now. I sent out requests via www.carsdirect.com to get the best quotes from all car dearlerships within a hundred mile radius from Pearland. I've received a lot of responses but most of them we're typical high-pressure pitches coupled with their not-so low price quotes (despite their claims of being otherwise). One dealership that caught my attention was Gillman Honda of Fort Bend more popularly known as Rosenberg Honda. For starters, I got a quote that stated the OTD (out-the-door) price while all of the others had a fine print that TTL (tax, tags and licenses) were not included with quote. Second, the OTD price was very close to the other quoted prices that didn't include the TTL. To me that said a lot. I just had to put them on my short list. Just before Hurricane Ike came, I sent out feelers to my short listed dealers to see if they can lower down some more. I wasn't expecting an immediate an response specially with the looming hurricane and all. But days after Hurricane Ike passed, all of my short listed dealerships except Rosenberg Honda, started calling up and e-mailing to pressure me into buying their vans. I was so upset that I just crossed them all out. After mending the fixes on my property and I was curious why Rosenberg Honda didn't contact me at all. So I sent an e-mail to inquire if the quote I got a couple of weeks back was still valid. They said yes and with a couple more exchanges and haggling over nitty gritty stuff, I finally drove to the dealership to close the deal. On the day of the pickup, I finally met the internet sales consultant that I was exchanging e-mails with. His name is Bill Cockerell. And I must say he is an OUTSTANDING fellow. I was so used to talking to deceitful and overbearing sales people, that talking to Bill seemed a bit awkward. The last time I ever experienced this kind of extremely good salesmanship was at a Saturn Dealership (but that's another story). Anyhow, we test drove the van, he explained the new features of the EX-L (like that awesome rear-view camera mirror) and the other extra bundles that the Odyssey 08 had. All along being friendly, courteous and honest. I also had the pleasure in dealing with their finance guy I forgot his name but he too was outstanding. He laid out all the pricing options, he explained the pros and cons of each. And how much down payment would affect how much interest I got and so on. He even helped me get a better rate for my loan compared to my own bank's. If I didn't like an option I just said so and that was the end of it. No pressure, no bull-crap, no lies. I was in disbelief, normally this was the most dreaded part of the buying experience (to me at least). But I was happy. It even felt like that I won something. Weird huh?! And that's not all, after signing the papers I was given the van keys, Bill did another pre-delivery inspection and found a dent at the tail gate. I was so happy with the whole buying experience that I was willing to let it go and just do a paint touch up instead. But NO!, Bill said it wasn't up to their standards, he wanted to fix it the right way. So we arranged a service date, I got a loaner car and it went smoothly as expected. Now, I'm one of the many extremely happy 2008 Honda Odyssey drivers who bought a car from Rosenberg Honda. Special shout-out to Rhonda Kirkland, Rosenberg Honda's Excell Manager, not sure what that title means. But she knows how to handle customers properly, if you have any issues just give her a call and she will sort it out. Overall, I will definitely buy another car again from Rosenberg Honda aka Gillman Honda of Fort Bent. It maybe a bit far from Downtown Houston but it is well worth the drive.
