NOT real mechanics!
by imaluthier71 on 05/08/2014updated 07/30/2025My truck is a 2006 F150 with only 34000 miles on it. I started hearing a whirring noise from the rear axle, knowing it was possibly a bearing of some type? I take it in, explain to the service writer what I've been experiencing, left the… vehicle and was on my way. A day or two later he called saying the tech diagnosed the issue as the driveshaft and should be replaced to the cost of $1350...I approved, and they ordered the driveshaft and it comes in a week later, then says they took the old one out and it looked fine, then looked around and noticed the yoke to the rear differential had some unusual play, so without opening and examining the rear differential, the tech "diagnosed" a COMPLETE REAR DIFFERENTIAL REBUILD to the tune of $3045.00!!!! I found that unacceptable considering the suspicious circumstances of the "diagnosis". I declined, paid the diagnostic fee, though I feel it was undeserved, and took my vehicle to my longtime mechanic for a second opinion, who was able to diagnose a simple rear diff pinion bearing R&R to a total repair cost of only $869. Way better than an unneeded rear differential for $2100 more! This wasn't a real mechanic, but just a removal and replacement specialist who has no real diagnostic skills whatsoever. Fun fact: a dealership's service department only needs one ASE Certified technician to claim the entire facility as ASE certified. I will NEVER take my truck back to a dealership for service unless it is under warranty, period.Hellok, thank you for your detailed review about your experiences at AutoNation Ford Katy. We viewed vehicles on the internet which had prices, incentives and all the details for us to print out 3 choices in vehicles. We arrived at the dealership after… noon and Jerry S. immediately got the keys for two of the vehicles. He showed us some of the Escape's features (there's lots) and we test drove two of them. We decided on a white 1.6 liter which had a great starting price for us. We went into the office and asked to trade-in out 2006 Mercury Milan. Jerry S. and Mark C., the Sales Manager, gave us a trade-in price that we were very happy with. Jennifer W. explained the after market items that we could purchase for our new Escape and she was very friendly about it. Craig helped us finance our new Escape from Ford Motor Co. at a reasonable finance fee and he made it easy and pleasant. We had a great shopping experience and would like to thank everyone that helped. We were able to leave the lot before 5pm. and have enjoyed our new 2013 Ford Escape a lot.DO NOT allow the dealer to wash your car

The dealership management eventually "fixed" the problem but only with multiple visits and eventually having the car partially… repainted - leaving me with a new car that already has signs of repair work, degrading the trade in value even further. No alternatives or concessions were offered and even though it was pointed out at time of delivery, the dealer refused to void the sale, leaving me with a car they had damaged but for which I am responsible.Great buying experience

We had recently had trouble with another dealership in Houston and so we called Auto Nation before we left to ensure we would not have a wasted trip again. Our salesman… was Edward J. He was really helpful on the phone and so it prompted us to go and visit the dealership. It was an easy place to find and we were greeted by friendly staff. Edward was a really friendly and helpful guy. Nothing was too much for him and he happily sat in the car explaining all the gadgets to me with a screaming 6 week old baby. We did not feel pushed into anything and he stuck to his word and agreement we had discussed on the phone. The car itself was exactly how it was online and was washed and ready for us. The whole experience was an excellent one and i would definately recommend these guys to anyone looking to buy a car. We will be using Auto Nation again when we are ready for our next car. My only complaint, not towards Jonathan, but after we agreed on a final price, it came back with… an additional cost for wheel locks and window tinting. To me, that should been included in the final negotiated price, since apparently they were already installed.Fastest truck purchase in history

After getting of work we went directly to the Autonation lot and found the truck we had seen on the dealer website. We were greeted by James G. who was… very professional and courteous. I have purchase several vehicles in my life but I had never had such great and fair service by an auto dealer before. Then had the odasity to say it was not their fault, and then wouldn't work with us on a convenient time to get the plates changed. We do not live in the Katy… area, so the drive to go back up there so they can fix their mistake is a HUGE inconvenience. Treated us poorly when we expressed how difficult it was to make the arrangements to get back up there, we have 2 very small children, and they told us well then drive with an illegal vehicle. WILL NOT recommend this dealership to anyone! Beware of these RUDE people.Excellent!! No buyers remorse here!!
